A lot of people don't like this book cause they think it's boring. But I think it's a little more than that...

I think that the reason some people didn't like the way the book ended was because it challenged some of their assumptions from the start of the series.

Such as Katniss living happily ever after, the relationship love triangle being worked out with everyone a winner, all the good guys come home, and justice is served.

Mockingjay well to put it bluntly mocks that ideal. It shows a darker more realistic way things pan out. The triangle is broken and Gale is never seen or heard from again because he killed Prim.

Not all the good guys come home in a war, the good and the bad die in war, hence Finnick.

And it shows the idea that you can't walk away from so much pain and suffering and live happy ever after; hence Katniss and Peeta who can never be like they were before.

It shows that best intentions don't result in a happy ever after where all is right and just in the world. People get hurt and die, and actions have consequence that we don't foresee.

I think that dose of reality in pop fiction is much needed and that people know it and they didn't want to hear it.

I loved Mockingjay! It was amazing and all the events that occurred were needed to make the book realistic and personal. And in the end everything unfolded and was solved the way it should have.

Are there any other NON Y.A. (or close to it ) readers out there?? I am 67 and GRANDMOTHER of 7 (older than Mags)....I sure would like to hear from some of you, I have been reading from the smart kids, now how bout the smart elders?

I loved Mockingjay and I agree with what Mockingjay (lol) said up there. Like I've said before.... That's what Katniss did, that's who Katniss chose, those were the results, that's what happened, that's what it is.

Very slow paced and pointless

i think that mockingjay took on a whole different meaning and style from it's prequels. that's why everyone is kind of unsure about it.

I enjoyed Mockingjay. I mean I did like the prequels a little better, but I think it's because Peeta is my favorite character and he was missing in most of Mockingjay. Also I do feel like the ending was rushed. There was so much summary of what happened and not enough action. Truthfully, I wish she did take the time to write out the details. I'm sure she could have made it work. Also I think a lot of people were upset about the deaths. It didn't bother me because I'm used to authors killing off the best characters (thank you J.K Rowling and a couple others...so mean).

So other than that, I enjoyed the book and would read it again.

This book is amazing! i loved it!! i dont get how people could find this book boring

I don't think it's boring. But, it's a much slower pace than the two previous. Not only that, but it's difficult book, period, because the characters have been through a great deal of mess and it's beginning to wear on them.

I think it's the same issue that Harry Potter fans have with the 5th Harry Potter book, which is also very emotional, has a slow pacer than the four before it, and has the main characer going through some junk that turns off many of the series's fans.

It's not that it's a bad book, it's just that it's so different from the first two, that it leaves some of the fans in an aggitated state.
