Samantha Jones | 7 comments Since I wrote my first entry, I have had one question throughout the entire book: What is Peekay's real name or why did Courtenay decide not to reveal a real name for Peekay? I have started to think that the reason the boarding school boys gave Peekay his name of "Pisskop" is to foreshadow for Peekay's crisis later in the book, which is his desire for independence where he doesn't want everyone else to make decisions for him. The Judge and his Nazi Party made every decision for Peekay, including his name. When Peekay was getting his new tackies with Mevrou, Harry gave him his name of Peekay. I think the concept of Peekay never making decisions for himself is why Courtenay never introduced Peekay's real name.

Kate Leffner | 8 comments I thought your prespective was very interesting, as I had thought of it differently. Although I wondered throughout the novel what Peekay's mother named him, I thought that in keeping his name, Peekay, which is rather unorthodox, he was asserting his independence (especially when he went to the second boarding school). I felt that by accepting Harry's choice of the name Peekay (which is the initals of "Pisskop") he was accepting good into his life, which is a very adult descision.
