Since you guys aren't asking me anything I'll start. Who is your favorite character in the series and why? (can't choose? why not?)

message 2: by Penny (new)

Penny Brandon (pennybrandon) | 3 comments I'm going to re-read them to give a definate why. But I think it has to be Jared. I'll post a comment when I've re-read just to be sure, 'cause it's hard as I like them all.

Stacy (LaStacy) | 5 comments Diane, Question is . . . how many of these "making of a man" books do you think you'll be writing? Is the end in sight? Did I miss your master plan somewhere else (I haven't searched this entire board yet, so it's a possibility!). I'm loving the fact that the angst in each of these is moderate and not due to "stupidity" or major character flaws. Thanks for a great escape into a lovely romance.

Stacy -
PS Where should I put this question? Argh!

Jared is a popular guy lol. I think we all want one.

I finally had an idea for titling the question answer threads. I'll go start them now. Stacy once I do feel free to copy your question into it :D

Jared is my fav...I just love how mature he is even at a young age, how loving, caring, protective...oh so many great qualities!

Oh that made me think of another question I need to keep notes!

message 7: by Heather (new)

Heather Diane, My question is about Alex's dad. Why didn't he stand with Alex when Alex was treated to badly by his mother. I mean, he got him out of town...but as a parent I would have never let my son feel so hated in his own home.

I feel that he did stand with Alex. Frank's choices involved not only protecting Alex but trying to preserve the family as a whole. The family home is Janet's just as much as Alex's. If Alex had chosen to go home and confront his mother that summer his father was prepared to support that and he even said as much.

His hope was to allow things to cool off, and give everyone time and space to adjust. How successful that was remains to be seen as Alex's mother, while no longer ranting, has not given her blessing. Her actions are causing what may be irreparable rifts in the family.

Some would say what she's done already is unforgivable. Neither Frank, Jared, nor Alex believe that. They all continue to hope for reconciliation. Is that realistic? That remains to be seen, the drama with Alex's mother has yet to be played out completely. Only time will tell if Frank's attempts to moderate the situation made a difference. (excellent question Heather)

Lydia (lyd55) | 63 comments I think my favorite character is Jared. Why? Because he's always trying to do what's right. He has a lot of great qualities. I love all of them except for his mother. I'm reading a Place to run and she just got the pictures of Jared and Alex. Ugh, okay I love Alex. He goes for what he wants and he wants Jared.

I agree that one of Jared's enduring (and frustrating) qualities is his effort to do the right thing. Sometimes he needs to just relax lol.

Alex? He must be the most single minded, driven person on the planet. Jared never had a chance. I think Jared's fate was set, not the first time Alex smiled at him, but the first time Alex saw him lmao. Jared is just too innocent to realize it ;)

We haven't seen the last of Alex's mother yet...my that sounds ominous doesn't it? lol.

message 11: by Kat (new)

Kat (cutestsubever) I hope Alex Mom comes around - she is just too disturbing.... and reminds of the Mom of one of my best friends.... *ugh*

There are a lot of mixed opinions about whether Alex's mom should come around, or if the guys should forgive her if she ever does.

I like to think her love for her son will overcome her pride one day, but I really don't know what's going to happen there.

message 13: by Lydia (new)

Lydia (lyd55) | 63 comments It does sound ominous! I actually pity her because she's lost out on so much time with Alex and she knows of Jared but she doesn't know him. He's a good person. If Janet does ever come around I think the guys will forgive her. That's the way they are...good people. Does she deserve it? Probably not. :D

message 14: by Kat (last edited Aug 25, 2011 07:54AM) (new)

Kat (cutestsubever) hmmmm.... but is it possible to forgive something like that?
Cause (at least I have that feeling) what she does is a kind of betrayal on Alex.... she is his mother, she should not judge her son but support him. I don't talk about unconditional love because I don't think that's possible although a child should be able to expect that from his parent.
Alex's mom is absolutely prejudiced and she never ever made the slightest attempt to get to know Alex or Jared how they really are. And that makes me angry....

message 15: by Lydia (new)

Lydia (lyd55) | 63 comments Personally it's not something I could forgive. If my parent treated me the way Janet has treated Alex and/or Jared it's a done deal...I'm gone. It really bothers me that she cares what other people think and how she thinks her status in the community is important. Her behavior is appalling. Okay, I'm getting worked up other here. :D

See I told you, very strong feelings. Of course, rarely do Jared and Alex react in expected ways. I wonder sometimes how extreme something would have to be to touch her, does she have feelings for Alex at all? Guess we'll see one of these days ;)

message 17: by Deeze (new)

Deeze | 37 comments Its got to be Jared. After all he is a hands on construction worker LOL. The hard hat jeans and tool belt alone keep him at the top

As for Alex's mum. She is one seriously messed up woman. I said in my review that I wanted her to see what she threw away when she told Alex he was no longer her son. I'd still like to see her looking in the window one day at a happy family time for Alex and Jared and to realise she could of been part of it, but her stupid priorities and mixed up thought process caused her to lose it all.

@Deeze, I can't wait for you to read Clark's Story and let us know what you think :)

message 19: by Mark (new)

Mark | 10 comments @Diane, i love the caharecter of Alex, He knew he wanted Jared, and never gave up, he waited until it felt right for Jared and indoing so not only got a brilloiant friend but a good start to a long and happy relationship. If were all honest, we've been on both sides of the too old/too young line and not knowing where the boundry is (legal age is a definate limit) but knowing that someone is not only Legal but emotionanally old enough is a big thing....... Must be why am alone :( too cautious.....

I rather hope that there will be many more books in the MM series and yes, focus on some of the others and yet still interact with Jared and Alex, so (@?no names given? ) no asking how soon there will be an end book :) Grrrr

id rather the situation with the mother of Alex was not a halleula and she's seen the light in 10 seconds and fully changed....... Real life aint like that....
are we going to hear more of some of the people from Alex's boarding school ?
what about Jared's Workers ?
Stephanies Family who was not there ?
there adopted family ?
is any of them going down adoption/fostering/surrogacy routes ? all 3 routes ?

Deeze | 37 comments I got a question lol. How long till we get Jens story. He made my day reading the way he called Jared "his Red" lol.

OK a more serious question. I tried to add a quote from
one of the earlier books but it kept giving credit to another author with the same name. Any idea how I can get the quote to show up with your author details? I tried emailing Goodreads but no reply so far.

Update
OK Goodreads replied, guess I need to learn patience lol, and the Quote now shows with the correct author.
