Read maybe 6 years ago. Suddenly wondered if there was a second book.

Book review : Man find himself in a different world ruled by women. Men number in population is very low and protected from any dangerous tasks. Prisoned at homes largely. i can remember this much :)

Herland describes an all women society... 3 men come to explore it and get to know it. For a while they are imprisoned... But it doesn't really fit what you remember.

Ah you found it! That one sounds good as well. Herland was a bit too much "why women are building the better society" like, it was written in 1920 and a big deal at the time.
