Matt Parbs As a baseball nerd and an all around nerd, I love reading books about statistics and their meaning to the game.

My choices for books about stats are the two biggies: Bill James' Abstract and Baseball Prospectus' Between the Numbers. I'm always game for other books about stats, but I'm curious to learn about other books about the meaning of stats and their application to the game. Books like Moneyball and the 2%.

Hi Matt, I also enjoy reading about the actual stats. There have been a few books that I have read through that have stuff like that. I will have to see if I can find them in case they aren't ones you have read. For me it was fun being at games when different players hit a milesstone in one catagory or another while I was traveling to all the parks. But then I am a numbers person so that part appeals to me.

Timothy Asbury I love Jame's Historical Baseball Abstract and Rob Neyers Baseball Dynasties:The Greatest Teams of All Time.

Jay French (jayfr) I attended a talk this week by Michael Lewis and Billy Beane (Moneyball author and subject). There were a number of interesting comments, many summarized at http://turbotodd.wordpress.com/2011/1...

As a closing remark, Beane suggested that stats have been analyzed about all they can be by professional baseball teams, but he sees one area of analysis that hasn't been a focus -- statistics and measurements on player injuries and rehabilitation. You can see that he's trying to figure out when it pays to sign an injured player.

Max (millermax) The Numbers Game was a fun book to read. Baseball Prospectus' Baseball Between the Numbers was also an interesting read, but not really an introduction.

On my list to read are The Hidden Game of Baseball and The Book, by Tom Tango.

Did anyone else see that the entire archive of Bill James' Baseball Analyst was digitized and put online for free today by SABR?
