~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Brett, just finished reading Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward
and I really liked it. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. The beginning was really slow but then it picked up alot. I enjoyed the spiritual element to it and I really liked the characters she introduced. Jim was very interesting as were his sidekicks. I look forward to reading the others.

Hi again Lan-Dinh,

here are your picks, hope you can find something to enjoy.

From Your TBR
One for the Money - can't say one of my favourites but it was fun and an easy read and you already owned the series so why not start them.
Naked in Death - i read the first two books they were bith good but liked this one more

New to You
Sweet Surrender - although i liked the second book more, i am obsessed with reading the series in order so thats tge first book
Jane Eyre - i have noticed you liked classics so this is my favourite and my chance to recommend it ;)

My Favourite
One Day - since i have read it, i have been recommensing it so here it is again. i have reread it lastmonth and still loving it.
The Hunger Games - i saw you read Divergent so you might like this series, i actually couldnt believe i couldnt find the book in your shelves, was it me or you haven't really read them?

From My Tbr
Bloodlines - i like VA series so got this new series, so if you are interested i will be happy to go for a buddy read

Thanks for the picks!!
I think that I will read One for the Money, Naked in Death, and the Hunger Games. I am interested in Bloodlines but I feel that I would have to read VA first. Jane Eyre I actually read and really liked. I forgot to mark that as read on my list because I read it so many years ago. If I have time I may check out starcrossed. It sounded interesting. Let me know what you think of it.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Try again! Kathryn! Sorry for the delay... *stupid computer!* So now that I've delved into you piles (we read LOTS of the same books), here are my recommendations for you. Hope you find one that appeals :)

Your TBR
Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison. I finished this a couple of days ago. Great book with lots of action (fighting) and action (lurving) ;)
Then Came You by Lisa Kleypas. You really enjoy her books, so I threw this one in for safety!
Victorious Star by Morgan Hawke. Because it was on your list - pretty 'fruity', but I really enjoyed this book.

New to You
Second Sight by Amanda Quick aka Jayne Ann Krentz aka Jayne Castle. The Arcane Society books stretch from early 20th C England, through modern day and into the a futuristic world. They are relaxing, reliable, entertaining books. It is worth giving them a go.
Guardian Of Honor by Robin D Owens. The reason I didn't check GR's first thing this morning. Loved this fantasy.
Roane by Marie Harte. Given some of the books you have on your shelves I thought you might enjoy this quick read. I really like this 4 book series by MH.

My favourites
Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair. Space opera at its best in my opinion. Loved this book and the awkwardness of the H.
Burning Wild by Christine Feehan. You've read the previous book. This book is SO much better!
Shield's Lady by Jayne Ann Krentz. If I want a bit of a pick me up, I listen to this book. Great fun set in a futuristic world with lots of H/h friction.

My TBR
I chose a couple of books we both have on our TBR that I plan to read either this month, or very soon
Soulless by Gail Carriger
Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon

It was August 31st, I think, or maybe 30th because I had it, it was on my recommendations list which I couldn't wait to start, and I was on a plane at the time with enough time to start it and finish it all in one sitting! I figured I would start it in August and finish it in September, but it was so-o-o-o good, I just couldn't stop reading it! Never fear, though, I am reading the rest of the ones in my list!!

message 619: by Brenda (last edited Sep 04, 2011 01:39AM) (new)

Brenda (bmass) Vi !!!
You are my literary hero! LOL

I just finished (8/4) Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James. It was way less erotic then most of the romance books I read (Lorelei James) but the tension and banter completely made up for it! I wish she would write a second book maybe about Tyler so you can find out what happens to J.D. and Payton.

I think I am going to go find BITE or Attachments or both. I am determined to read at least 5 books this month.

message 620: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments LOL, Brenda. I'm so glad you liked both the picks. If you like, you could read the next book Something About You by Julie James . That is my favorite favorite of hers (I'm somewhat anal about reading books in order even though they are not a series).

Way to go with the reading, Brenda. It's only 4th and you've already finished TWO books. I've not even started one. :(

message 621: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Vi wrote: "Way to go DG! Don't you want to read the next two books immediately?"

Sure! Towards mid month works better for me. I'm starting a buddy read tomorrow and I have several library books to read as well. :)

I'll open a thread so we can coordinate with Jane, which actually recommended me HH to read this month. :)

I just finished Magic Bites. I gave it three stars--but the gore probably put it at 2 1/2. I kept finding myself reading it at meals which I definitely do NOT recommend. That said, I couldn't put it down the last 100 pages and I plan to read the next one in the series.

I was able to get both The Raven Prince and First Grave on the Right from the library. Probably won't start them this weekend because I need to do some work. I kept saying just one more chapter, one more chapter. Thanks for the recommendation-always glad to move something off my TBR (of course I also added to it)

I'm not the person this was directed to but Bookshelf Bingo is a team challenge in the SOS: Serious Overload of Series group. Each team gets a "bingo" card made of up different goodreads shelves (mostly PNR/UF related). Each week a new shelf is called and team members each read and review a book from that shelf. When all team members have posted their reviews the team gets a stamp. First team to BINGO wins! It's a lot of fun. Here is a much more articulate explanation: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3...
