How are you getting on? (The Chrysalids)

Hopefully no one will mind. On our first trip we stayed in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur & Udaipur. On our second trip we stayed in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Pushkar Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur & Udaipur (as well as lots of visiting places in between. Our next trip is to go further north: Delhi, Sirhind, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Shimla & Rishikesh.

The journey to Shimla is marvellous. I had a few Michael Palin moments, sat on the steps with the wind in my hair. Very cool old colonial hotel in Shimla where we stopped for high tea. It was great fun sat there in our grubby clothes with our pinkies stuck out being served by a bloke in white gloves from a real silver service.
I'm looking forward to hearing all about your trip!

I've seldom been so gripped by a book before! :0)

I can whole heartedly agree with that advice from experience!!

Well done for being brave - I didn't like it either and have tried it a few times. It wouldn't do for us all to like the same things now!
I just started The Chrysalids last night and I enjoyed the first chapter but then got lost in the second. Think I was getting rather tired though after a very long day at work so back to it this evening.

I think you will enjoy the next book. If our discussion leader wants to reveal their identity that is OK by me. I am just concerned about bribery and corruption from within the author fraternity, and it is not certain that rum, chocolates, handbags, rhubarb and caramacs won't be brought to bear to try and influence the choice :)

What a great idea.

Asda chicken nuggets are great.........

Well I'd just tell him to start his own little exclusive one with him and his mum and a few like-minded people

I do genuinely miss his sarcy comments...

... tripping over the Aldi bedding plants which are supposed to have magically planted themselves.

I had a look. Thought he may have deleted the ones with the comments but doesn't seem the case.

Sorry, CW. I do get distracted. I've not actually started Chrysalids yet so I shouldn't even be on this thread!

Its a compulsive book in many ways because I find it difficult to put down and I'm looking forward to getting deeper into it to find out what happens to David and his sister.
Sorry for going off topic but I'll take a look at the Vikram Chandra book. I've visited India twice & am going back next year so find these books so interesting.
