Hello, I'm María from Spain and sometime soon I'll have to move out to make room for my ongrowing book, film and comic collection. Last one I've read is Jason Lutes' Jar of Fools, which I loved.

When I was little, I would go to the comic stores with my older brother. At some point, I found a pile of Teen Titans back issues in the sale bin and started reading and collecting them, later branching out to several Batman and Robin titles.
After college, I stopped reading comics for a long time. Then I borrowed my friend's complete Sandman collection and remembered what I had been missing. Recently, I've been more inclined to read independent comics than the big two. I've also been making my own.
I'm looking forward to discovering new favorites and discussing them with folks here!

I'm Alyssa from SLC. I'm actually really new to this genre. I feel in love with some animes and that led me to manga. and now i just can't seem to get enough. go figure.

Kevin Thurman here. Newly published writer working in both fiction and non-fiction - though fiction is my first love.
I am starting to break ground on my own little section of the comic book world.
I grew up on X-Men and other super-hero faire. Now, while I love super-heroes, I have a fascination and adoration for indie comics that favor characterization and story over splash pages and big punches.

my name is sarah i read all kinds of graphic novels as well as comics. i am just looking for some feedback on ones i have read and ones that i am thinking about reading!

I'm just eating up biographies at the moment! I think that the Graphic Novel is a fantastic format for sharing difficult {that word just doesn't cut it in some instances} stories... I've also taken to reading Graphic Novels attached to my favourite TV shows & movies.

I'm a regular comic-book reader for some years now, and always wanted to join a discussion group of everything I read (comic and non-comic alike), so when I saw this group I just thought it was just for me.
Pardon my english, it's not my primary language, so I try my best every time I write :)
By the way, currently reading Spiegelman's Maus and Moore/Gibbons's Watchmen, so I'm having a great time.
Regards!

My name is Paul, I live in a little town called Mascouche about 30km North of Montreal.
I've been reading comics for over 40 years and amassing them for the last 35 years or so. So yeah, they do take up alot of space :)
Thru the years, I've read pretty much all genres and, being francophone with a good working knowledge of English, I've been priviledged to read both American and European styles.
Reading has always been a great passion of mine... I even read those things that don't have any images in them... they're called "books" or something like that ;)
I've always been of the thought that "outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend... inside of a dog, it's too dark to read." - Groucho Marx

Welcome everybody! :)
That's a nice quote there Paul.

My personal favourites, as far as characters go, would have to be Batman, Punisher [this does not include Frankencastle], Spiderman, Thor, Hulk and Moon Knight.

I'm truly adamant about fantasy literature and graphic novels. I've loved reading ever since my mum got me into it (used to read to me when I was little.)
My all time favourite G.N. is the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. Pure genius, that man is. I'd love to meet him some day.
I'm a primary teacher (first to fourth grade English) and love sharing my favourite reads with my kids (students.)

My personal favorites are Wonder Woman, Gotham City Sirens, and Scott Pilgrim. I mostly stick to DC, but I am always willing to try anything new with a really great story :)

My name is Putra Perdana from tropical Indonesia (hope you guys know where it is, most often my country is only associated with Bali)
While I'm drowning in Japanese GN's and manga, I grew up with the classic Spiderman and Wolverine series, not to mention some Dark Horse and obscure cult comics like the Comet and Spawn. I also read some of Patterson's GN: Maximum Ride series. I see you're all well versed in this culture so I hope to learn more and obtain wider references on GN's and comics.
Pleased to meet you all

@Gaijinmama: I know what you mean. Graphic novels can get veeery addictive.

And if it's written well and has art I'll most likely read it. L
Latest read is "Mind The Gap" vol 1. I highly recommend it.

I think the best kind of comic books are serials where you can really take your time to learn about the characters over a period of several books.
Star Wars comics are my childhood friends and all the superhero comics are a must read for any comic fan.
I recently became the author of a graphic novel myself, The Dragon Tutor. In one of those, write the book you would like to read events.
I'm really glad to join this graphic novel reading club! Sounds like my kind of place!

I love series' like Transmetropolitan, Preacher, Hellboy as well as more classic characters. It has been a while since I really had money to collect as much as I used to. Always watching out for new, fun ones though. I like the crazy, the macabre, the topical.

My name is Ken Raining, and I'm a reference librarian at the Easttown Library in Radnor, PA, and a lifelong comics fan. I actually joined this group at least a week ago, but this is the first chance I've had to post here!
Currently, I'm reading the new book Marvel Comics: the Untold Story, which I'm enjoying; after that, I'll probably be reading Jonathan Hickman's The Manhattan Projects.
Professionally, I'm looking to build up my library's gn collections, and I'm also beginning to do comics-specific programs. If anyone is in the greater Phila area and would like any information, feel free to let me know.

I am the BIGGEST "BLEACH" Manga // Anime Series FANATIC In the ENTIRE UNIVERSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has a Current Total of 55 of them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I should have probable introduced myself before posting a discussion, apologies for breaking protocol.
I'm not a massive comic book/graphic novel reader myself, though I do have a few on my wish list (Neil Gaiman's Sandman really intrigues me).
I joined this group in the hope of getting some recommendations. There is such an array of choice available online that I could use a pointer in the right direction.

I guess the first graphic novel I read was Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Which in some ways is a shame, because I'm not sure I've read one better than that since then.
I really like the Loeb/Millar Batman collaborations and I was really impressed by Superman: Red Son.
I love Superman, but I've always thought it's really hard to make him interesting and dramatic, given that he's so powerful (the age-old problem).
Anyway. I'll stop burbling now.

hehe i still remember the batman superman public enemy movie, when superman told Lex luther "killed my best friend" didn't exactly match up to the comic book, i don't think alot of readers mind it as much as i do

We started a while ago and we truly need followers:)
Please follow:)

I don't really do the super heroes, although if I had to choose, I'm a DC fan over Marvel. I prefer monthlies to trades, and I refer to all formats as "comics".
I've been reading comics since an early teen, and in the interest of not revealing my age, I won't say how long that's been, but I will say that's in the double digits ;).
Hi everyone!

My name is Mike and I've been a comics fan since I was four years old and I was given a comic collection by one of my mom's friends younger brothers. This started me on my own comic collecting journey- well, that and when I was little, the original "Star Wars" and its sequels were released, so those comics were bought for or given to me- which really took off in junior high when I became an Uncanny X Men fan.
If there is a series I like, I'll buy omnibus collections over single issues these days, but I do still love browsing and buying single issues when I can. I also refer to all formats as "comics" most of the time.

Anyway, nice to meet you all, and I'm excited to explore.

Currently in the process of launching a comic book series and always open to ideas from fellow enthusiasts :)

I'm Adriana, from Colombia but currently living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'm really new in all this graphic novels stuff, I haven't read more than 20 GN books in my life. My favorite book is Persepolis for many reasons; it was the 1st GN I've read, It's full of wisdom, humor and drama, knowledge and Marjane Satrapi's has this amazing way to tell a story that simply I find mesmerizing and convincing. I love Watchmen and V for vendetta, they're my favorites as well. Currently I'm reading Scott Pilgrim's book.
As you may noticed, English it's not my native language, so I apologize in advance.
