I just finished reading the books in the Hellequin series by Steve McHugh, and I definitely recommend it to fans of urban fantasy who like lots of action. I can't wait for book four:

Crimes Against Magic (Hellequin Chronicles, #1) by Steve McHugh Born of Hatred (Hellequin Chronicles, #2) by Steve McHugh With Silent Screams (Hellequin Chronicles #3) by Steve McHugh Infamous Reign (The Hellequin Chronicles Novella) by Steve McHugh

Just finished Blood and Bullets...whew. The house is a mess. Blood and viscera everywhere, expended cartridges, broken weapons, dead vamps (well dust), the whole place smells of cordite and...death. That book is pretty much nonstop action.

Interesting choices, William. The Rented Mule appears to be outselling Patterson at the moment. Have you finished either of them yet? If so, which one would you recommend?

I'm on a roll with good books lately. Besides enjoying Suspect I finished Night Broken #8 in the Mercy Thompson series and just started the science fiction thriller The Martian which has been excellent so far.

I'm moving on in the Gamma LAW books by Daley (more than halfway through the "Daley Collection" now).

Gama Law is a fun traditional sci-fi series written in that 1970s and 80s style. Strong characters well some are kind of insane, but still strong. Some interesting themes and a battle in a Daley book involves noir-ish sentimentality....which menas, arms get ripped off and people get squashed, blown up and other sorts of stuff. Good read. Not as good as Alacrity Fitzhugh and Hobart Floyt, but, that's a matter of taste mostly. Still good reading.

Eileen I'm currently reading The Affair so far so good and what's not to like about Jack Reacher. I've come to a conclusion why I didn't like the movie with Tom Curse as much as I was hoping. And not for the obvious reason that Cruise doesn't look anything like Jack Reacher. It's because the movie didn't tell a story as well as Lee Child does in his books.

My thought for the day. ; )

Just recently discovered the PRIMAL series myself. Oddly enough, I discovered them when another indie action author I was Facebooking with commented that he thought they were overrated. I had to check them out for myself and found them rather enjoyable. I've only read the first one and skimmed the second, mind you, but I think Silkstone knows how to write a slick action sequence. Definitely looking forward to checking out the rest of the series.

thanks ctgt :)
The Alchemist ,in my opinion, is one of Paulo's master pieces. i assume as you have read it that you know that The Alchemist follows the journey of an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago. Santiago, believing a recurring dream to be prophetic, decides to travel to a Romani in a nearby town to discover its meaning. A gypsy woman tells him that there is a treasure in the Pyramids in Egypt.....and so one.
but this novel is more than a simple novel, it's a symbolic one. it's main theme is about finding one's destiny and spirituality. i read a sentence about this novel and i think you will like it as i did , it says that The Alchemist is "more self-help than literature". this sentence is really summarizes what i am trying to say about this book.it's not just a book, it's an experience and a way to deal with world . it's spirituality that connected the whole religions under one true word "maktub" which an Arabic word for your information means it's written and also connected different people, different dreams, different areas with different traditions and a lot is really awesome and intresting . every word plays a big rule in building a sentence that could be a great quot. i enjoyed this book very much and if i start to talk about it ,i think 'll go very far. hope you liked my point of view and hope to hear yours for sure.

I wouldn't think anyone in Hollywood could keep up with Child Eileen. They also had to give up the description of Reacher since Cruise wouldn't fit it anywhere.

The Han Solo AdventuresI've read the Gammalaw series by Brian Daley, first book, Smoke on the Water. This is pretty nice quick moving sci-fi story (closer to "hard Sci-fi" than "Fantasy sci-fi") written with a Noir-ish feel to it.

Lots of action fights things blowing up attacks by sea creatures and other things.

Now I'm finishing up my Daley tour with The Han Solo Adventures. It's a lot of fun. The second novel/novella starts off with Han, unwittingly, starting a holy war with a race of giant cockraches. You gotta read it. It's funny.

There are good Solo and gotcha, Solo lines through out. this is another action book and pretty quick pased. I'm enjoying the read.

Just checked out the sample over on Amazon. I may have to give this one a chance. Seems like it may be a touch shallow for my tastes, but then again, sometimes I'm just in the mood for a straight-forward "badass kicks vampire ass" story.

Volume 1 I really didn't like it was too history and science and math class.since then it dances between half cocked jack the king of the vagabond/ pirate and then the political and phylisophical bit of 16-1700 Europe. By the end they'll have touched most of the globe though.

I finished the Han Solo adventures by Brian Daley. Those are fun, and definately action oriented sci-fi. Daley was the first author allowed to write a spin-off from the Star Wars movies. Solo is more fun in the book than he is in the three movies!

Great one liners like...

Can Wookies fly small fighters?

"Sure,we'll just build a dormer on the canopy bubble and that hyperthyroid dust mop of yours can fly the damned thing with his knee caps."

Lots of fun here. A wonderful scene with the Chewie, Han a droid and two others on the slide of their lives after chewie rips down a huge gong and uses it as a sled. ...yeah, it was an escape of grand purportions.
