I find that mixing up series and books, not doing them all at once (even if their availible) helps the series stay fresh for me.

Tim The Enchanter Wait! I lied, I read the whole Camaloud/Dream of Eagle Series which starts with, The Skystone. If you haven't read these you really should!! It is some ancient "pre-England" Action Adventure that is my favorite series of all time. They essentially deal with the Myth of King Arthur and Merlin. The paperback books can be hard to find but there are ebooks available for the whole series.

message 3303: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I'm not getting updates, it's so frustrating!

I'm still working my way thru The Killing Kind and Pacific Vortex!.

If I'm enjoying a series, I like to read everyone I can get my hands on.

Well, I'm at 2% and liking it. :) I will post a review shortly after I'm done and I keep status updates on my reads, so if you feel adventurous, check them out and feel free to comment. I like a good discussion.

I just finished it and have a hard time finding anything good to say about it. I should have a review posted tomorrow. Great artwalk through Florence, but mystery? not. Thriller? hardly.

I was involved in a challenge that required a lot of Paranormal reading. Although I do enjoy PNR, I am definitely ready to catch up on some of my favorite A/A books. I think that first on the list will be The Eye of God (Sigma Force #9) by James Rollins . I've been missing some Sigma Force lately!

Janey | 158 comments Today I finished The Secret Of Excalibur (Nina Wilde & Eddie Chase, #3) by Andy McDermott book 3 in the Eddie and Nina series. There were some action scenes that were set locally to me which were fun to read. I'm about to start Monster Hunter Alpha (MHI, #3) by Larry Correia .

About 25% in and it's very good so far. I think Mike said in his review that it was character driven and that is certainly the case so far.

message 3322: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt Ok Lady D, I really liked The Curse of Chalion! Not much in the way of action so be forewarned. Some politics but nothing too complicated and really more character driven(I stole that from Mike, thanks Mike), especially early on. Although it didn't have tons of action I did not find the pace slow, I would call it leisurely. Still trying to decide between 4 or 5 stars.

Okay, I seem to be getting pretty lucky here. I loved Earthman Jack vs. The Ghost Planet. Finished it. I'd recommend it to anyone with the understanding that it's not what I call a "Hard Science fiction" story but more what some call "Space Opera" and I'd call Space Fantasy (meaning it reads like an epic fantasy set in space...you know, like Star Wars).

What ever you call it. Lots of action and lots of fun and it has a youthful appeal (Young Adult) that wasn't lost on an old grumpy guy.

Now, I finally got my electronic and digital butt in gear and cracked the code on Doha 12 by Lance CharnesI'm about a 3rd of the way through and, im initial impression was, "hey, this remeinds me of a the golden days of Robert Ludlum!" (that a good thing.) I'm very happy with my good fortune! (I'll get to the end soon).

Make sure you keep a box of klenex next to the box of bullets when you start this one. (that's also a statement of endearment with me). It's looking really good so far.

That was me, too. First two I've re-read multiple times, love 'revisiting' the characters ... the third definitely not so much. I do wish she'd do another one with some of the characters from the first two.

Can I suggest The Breach (if you didn't read it already)? I recommend it because I was in a similar mood couple of months ago, abandoning like a half a dozen books just after 1-2 chapters, not feeling the need to pursue farther, and then BAM! The Breach got through to me. I finished the whole trilogy without a break! If you want, give it a try Eileen.

Sharon Michael | 449 comments I don't mind a familiar 'theme' if the characterization is good and it's "fun". I loved the Star Wars movies (and I was definitely an adult when I saw them) and just finished the Trading in Dangerwhich is a bit along those lines, enjoyed it a lot as well.

But then I'm a grumpy old lady (especially grumpy in the summer heat/humidity of KY) so it should work.

I agree ... fun read. Definitely requires a big suspension of reality, perhaps more than most, and I can relate to the Star Wars reference. Funny ... one of my favorite characters in the movies was R2-D2 and my favorite secondary *character* in this book is the sentient robot.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'm reading Matt Helm: The War Years by Keith Wease. I'm very impressed so far. Wease is another fan of the series & says he went through the books collecting what information he could. The front cover says it is a pastiche & in his forward he tells us that he didn't re-write any of the sections we'd be familiar with, just copied Hamilton's words. He did & it works very well. It's a type of honesty & homage that is wonderful to read.
