Sharon, don't know how much impairment you're dealing with (I hope little). My wife got to the point she couldn't read. There are also audio books and many libraries have a good selection. Ours has an Overdrive selection that can be downloaded at home to your computer or in some cases MP3s and other devices.

It doesn't really interfere with my reading ... even my artwork ... or most of the things I do outdoors except, again, for the depth perception problem. And, for some reason, I have no night vision at all ... but then I'm too old for much nightlife anyway now.
I do like the idea of adjustable fonts with the Kindle as it is slowly getting more difficult to read small type ... whether that is from the injury or just old age I don't really know.
I used to listen to audio tapes when I was doing a lot of horse hauling cross-country, but I have a hard time concentrating on them at home. If I'm not actually reading, my attention tends to wander. If it was the only option, I would likely adjust, but for now I do prefer books ... and hopefully the Kindle as well.
My wife was also an artist. It was hard for her when she had to stop painting.
Hope things go well.

I can only imagine. My great-uncle was an artist as well, and lost his sight in his late 50s. I don't remember now what the problem was, but I remember how upset my Grandmother was for him.I am just tremendously grateful that I can still do almost everything I need and want to do ... at 70 there's a lot of people that can't say that.
My wife had a series of strokes and the first paralyzed her right side which was her brush hand. She eventually had a series of strokes. She was only 64 when she passed.

Sharon, I think the Kindle will be a good thing for you.
Mike, I've said it before, but I'm sorry for what your wife went through and her passing.

I'm sorry for your loss too mike. You have my deepest sympathies.
I support kindle as a reading device. I love the printed page, but it's the story I'm after. (We all know that movies and television usually come short of delivering the best stories.) Have Kindle will Travel.

To all members, new and old, don't forget to vote in our poll for our November group read. It's up until the 14th!
Love love love this group, I read action books all the time, they are perfect between horror or mystery read - a nice fix of semi normal adrenaline!
Glad you joined, Kasia. I'm glad to find other action fans to talk to on GRs. The group was totally Hugh's idea, by the way.
Hi, I'm Anthony and Hugh (aka Hermit) dragged me in here (yes, I might have been kicking and screaming but that's only because my straightjacket is coming loose)... really looking forward to finding out where all the action is! Cheers Anthonyp.s. yes, I am also an aspiring author but let's pretend I didn't say that...
I can pretend... welcome to our little humble, but uniquely insane corner of cyberspace. It's good to have you here. Sorry about stretching out your "Hunting Jacket" (the kind with the arms that tie in the back).
Welcome Anthony

I've read "Pulse" that was fun. If you like that kind of adventure, you might try Eventby David L. Golemon. I enjoyed that very much. (Jeremy wrote a review for him on Goodreads too. He liked it.)
I thought Temple was a lot of fun. I loved the last line.

And it's scary. Just watching late night TV and what comes up? Just a story about a murder back in the town I used to live in in Louisiana with the name of a club that is owned by my Little Brother's best friend from High School. Freaky. (and the guy's name is Bubba - the Sherrif's Son. (Ex Sherrif)
