Hi Dusty. We welcome authors, but we ask that you do not include promotions in your introduction posts and outside of the areas specifically for author promotions. Please take a look at our group rules. I deleted your post for that reason.
Sorry, gang! I broke a cardinal rule of this group without even intending to do so. Not a good way to start. My name is Dusty Staub (AKA: William Staub). I write Christian/LDS action/adventure thrillers and although I have been doing so for several years already, I am just recently published. I have a strong military background, having given the US Army 52 years of my life. I also come from a strong LDS family and so that should explain why I write in the genre I do.
I am now retired from military and civil service and live with my wife of 52 years in St Augustine, Florida. If you have never been retired, you probably think I must have more time to write. However, not so. Fifty two years of military service does not come without bumps, bruises, and breaks, for which I am paying in my old age. So, I try to write and edit between medical appointments and family requirements.
I hope to contribute from my bit of experience to those who ask for help but I am not one to volunteer help where help may not be desired. I also would like to find out more about writing a/a all together to find out how I can improve my stories.
Thanx for having me onboard.
Pocket bio: Retired humanities teacher, residing in Tlaxcala, Mexico, with two dogs and six indoor cats. Passionate about literature, history, philosophy, classical music and opera, cinema, and similar subjects. Nostalgic guy. Politically centrist. BA in American Studies from Yale; MAs in English and Education from Boston University. Born in northern New Jersey. Have lived and worked in San Francisco, Chicago, northern Nevada, northeast Wisconsin, South Korea. More detail at Goodreads profile.Especially interested in classic / older books of the adventure type, so my comments will be mainly along those lines.
Hello team Goodreads.Glad to meet you all at last. Currently searching for shade and free aircon in the heat of the Mexican east coast, deliberating whether to make my fourth book, fiction or non fiction. I enjoy reading strong memoirs, close to the edge of fiction, action, suspense thrillers, current affairs and history as I feel there is an mysterious thread linking them all together...If I had a choice, I'd be in the mountains, skiing but I'm here, so I train calisthenics with the locals, which helps me to focus on current and future plots and characters.. Hope you all have a great weekend and looking forward to chatting. P

Welcome, Peter.
Hello everyone! I am from Wisconsin and I am currently reading Redemption by Phil Williams and Tell Me to Go by Charlotte Byrd.
Morning, Big fan of Matthew Reilly, Lex Faulkner, James Rollins & Lee Childs.
Hoping to get some recommendations for new authors to try out now that the cold, frosty evenings have arrived.
Looking forward to being part of the group!
Hello All - retired CIA Officer (and author) and always ready to read authentic stories (no Jason Bourne, space lasers, world domination, or evil masterminds with diamonds embedded in their faces). Big fan of earlier Le Carre and just read I.S. Barry's superb The Peacock and the Sparrow. And I did read the rules and won't self-promote when and where I shouldn't!
Hi, I'm a new member. I have been writing speculative fiction for several years following a long career in academic publishing. During three years of covid lockdowns in Malaysia I started publishing my books, beginning with a post-apocalyptic series (I was feeling very apocalyptic). I've branched out to dystopian, paranormal suspense/romance, and currently I'm writing a prehistoric post-apocalyptic adventure series which is why I joined this group.

Welcome, Shirley. This is predominantly a readers group, but authors are welcome to participate in the discussion from the viewpoint of fans of the genre. I answered the question you posted on the thread about Self Promotion. I have included both threads that are specifically curated for authors on this group.

I’m Rob, a retired army veteran. I enjoy mostly military based action thrillers or books about special operations units. I’m currently reading Dalton Fury’s Delta Force series.
I'm harboured up in the Welsh Valleys. I work outdoors, mostly on farms, walling, fencing, and general repair work. I was a focused on my rugby, but a knee injury has put me on the sidelines for good. In the off-seasons, when finance allowed, I took to the mountains: mostly Asia and the Himalayas. I took to reading whilst recovering from my surgery. It's becoming a big thing. As one door closes, another door opens.
Hi everyone! My name's Pat, and I live in central Mexico-have done for 20 years. I'm a big fan of Lee Child, David Baldacci, Clive Cussler, and Charles Dickens, and I also write action thrillers!

Hi, I'm Bridge. I'm 26. I'm shy. I'm single and aiming to stay that way for a good few years yet. I'm working and other than reading and work, I have a house with a garden (left me by my grandmother) that keeps me fit.I love reading good real life fiction.
Please, if you're an author, don't hit on me. I have my own mind and I'm not interested in what you think about your book.
Hi Bruce. We welcome authors, but we ask that you do not include promotions in your introduction posts and outside of the areas specifically for author promotions. Please take a look at our group rules. Thank you.
Bruce, I deleted your post. You are welcome to reintroduce yourself without the self-promotion, as Lisa said.
Hi everyone, name's Derek. Big fan of spy/military type thrillers (with some pulpy action adventure thrown in), which brought me here!I think what draw me to Action/Adventure/Thriller type novels is the sense of "presence" they bring, the idea of great adversity and events bringing great people together. Great people could be Spec Ops Soldiers, Treasure Hunters, an Average Joe without quit in 'em, doesn't matter. I guess it's just the idea of a crystalline moment in time when people become bigger than themselves, or die tryin'. Always had a connection with that.
Some of my personal favorites are The Gray Man and American Assassin series (though I am woefully behind on both). I also enjoyed the first Hero of Rome book from Douglas Jackson way back when, been meaning to pick that back up.
At any rate, happy to be here and hope to enjoy thrilling adventures with you all!
Welcome to the group Derek! Some of my favorite action/ adventure books are the ones involving the "Average Joe" as you said, becoming bigger than themselves to do great things.
Delighted to find this group! I'm a voracious reader who first worked in film, but eventually became an author myself. I'm from Boston, have a Border Collie mix, collect fine bourbons, and teach Brazilian jiu-jitsu.I love the adventures of Clive Cussler, James Rollins, Wilbur Smith, Gregg Hurwitz, and Joe Abercrombie. Joined here hoping to find great new recommendations and connect with like-minded readers. Thanks for having me!
Delighted to find this group! I'm a voracious reader who enjoys the thrilling worlds crafted by Clive Cussler, Rod Lewin, Wilbur Smith, and Jack Higgins. I joined hoping to discover some underrated gems and connect with fellow adventure lovers.Right now I am into The Missing Mallard Mystery by Rod Lewin, and it’s a total gem for fans of Clive Cussler or Jack Higgins. A historic seaplane vanishes without a trace along with its crew and millions in stolen pearls. Veteran sleuths Mitch Blaine and Beyer are on the case, unraveling a deadly trail of clues in a high-stakes adventure across sea and sky.
Thanks for having me looking forward to swapping recommendations with you all
Hi Everyone!I'm really thrilled to find this group and can't wait to read and discuss books with everyone!
I love reading, but I'm finding less and less time for it in the hectic everyday. Hopefully, this group will help me get back on track!
One thing to know about me is that I'm a fan of Agatha Christie and whodunits in general. Action-adventure used to be my favorite genre to read and watch growing up, so I can't wait to check out all the book recommendations by everyone.
Looking forward to making friends, connecting, and of course, reading!
Hello everyone,I'm Edward.
Excited to see some of the books others are reading in this group. Always interested in new entertaining stories and inspiration for my own work! Currently reading The Devil Colony by James Rollins.

I look forward to reading some of your novels and to reviewing them for you. I also look forward to your interest in my books and hope you will at least take a look into The Grace of God and Terror in the Kingdom as being the only two novels I have published so far. More will follow, as I am in the final edit of my third novel and hope it will come out by the end of the year.
