where are those threads? - every thread I see says authors should not mention their own work

In the promotions folder
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

You might have to look at the group via a computer instead of a phone. The mobile interface isn't the best.

message 1821: by Xavier (new)

Xavier J | 2 comments Hi everyone! My names Xavier, and I'm a big fan of action/adventure in general. My particular expertise is in comics/manga though. I'm also the author of 'Knighthood: The Dangerous Adventures'. Its new, and I'm trying to get better at connecting with readers.

message 1822: by Dave (new)

Dave Bartell (davebartell) Hey all! Been reading this genre for years before I knew it had a name. The old WW2, to Eiger Sanction, to Annapurna, to Clancy, Preston/Child (earlier). Opening of The Lion's Game by DeMille is breathtaking. Also like scifi with an edge of fantasy like Pierce Brown and Daniel Suarez. I enjoy when storytellers connect back into the ancient past to link a story with a treasure hunt (hard or knowledge): Robert Masello's Romanov Cross for example.

I less like terrorist, military, and too many guns blazing. Jack Reacher is a great character, but for me in limited doses. Give me an Indiana Jones - educated and impulsive.

Anyway, happy to have found this group.

J. William | 1 comments Hi all hope you're well. I've just joined goodreads as a new author and book addict.

Adventure/ mystery/ thrillers set in exotic locations have always been my favourite genre. I remember reading Secret Seven and Famous Five books when I was really young, then I was obsessed with Jurassic Park as a teenager, The Beach in my twenties and dozens more since then.

Look forward to sharing book recommendations and reading reviews.

Best,

J

message 1829: by Terry (new)

Terry Hi All,

Have used Goodreads for some time but never really learned how to use Goodreads well.

Invited to be in the group, so I decided to give it a try. (Thanks L.A.)

Looking forward to everyone's comments and hope I can fit in.

Old retired guy, that just starting reading for pleasure a few years ago.

I still read a lot of printed books and then manually add them to my Kindle.

Terry

message 1834: by Betty (new)

Betty (bettywoj) | 3 comments Hi! Was recently invited to join the group. Love my tablet, but still love the feel of a print book in my hands. I love action/adventure books and thrillers. Retired, reader, quilter, animal lover. Happily living with my husband and kitties in Soddy Daisy, TN.

message 1835: by Terry (new)

Terry Betty,

Welcome! I just joined the group a few days ago. I am a retired old guy, and like you, would prefer a printed book.

However, my fantastic daughter in law showed me how to download books from the Kansas library and some books from other sources and add them to my Kindle.

We live in a rural community and the library is very small so being able to add books through a remote library has really been useful.

Glad you joined the group.

Terry

Welcome to the group Betty! I've pretty much completely converted to ebooks only now...I've even gone so far as to get the ebook copy of a book that I already have in print, just because I prefer it now

Terry, I'm glad you discovered the digital library. I check out ebooks all the time from mine...very easy and convenient!

Welcome, Terry and Betty.

I love paper books, but I admit ebooks are great to cuddle up in bed and read with the lights dimmed or off.
