Welcome Lisa! Great to have you join us. This is a great place to find new books. I read the first Eddie Chase and Nina Wilde story (Atlantis) and enjoyed it, and one of the Robinson "Chess Team" books and thought it was fun too. I'm a big James Rollins fan too and, if you liked Sigma Force, have you read any of the James Rollins Stand Alones, I recommend Subterranean, Amazonia and Ice Hunt! But their all pretty good.
Hello folks. Avid reader here of this genre with favorites being Flynn, Greaney, Clancy, Child, etc. I have a background in operations intelligence and just wrote my first thriller Safe Havens: Shadow Masters, a black ops series that is in final edits. I look forward to joining in your discussions.
Welcome, Lisa! You mentioned some series I am pursuing or plan to look into. Congrats on exceeding your challenge goal!
Welcome, Scott!
Welcome, Scott!
Hey all - I'm brand new to GR and ecstatic to find this great resource of new A/A books to try! It's always been my favorite genre and I love finding new authors to try and share. Love Jack Higgins, James Rollins, Clive Cussler, Matthew Reilly, Preston & Child, Dan Brown, Boyd Morrison, Jack Du Brul, Ted Bell, etc.. and my latest discovery Glenn Cooper with Son of the Seventh Son. I do prefer some element of history or science instead of just shoot 'em ups - but then again there's alot to be said for that too! :-)
Hi, I'm Charles Ameringer, professor eneritus at Penn State University, a former captain in the USAF Reserve, and before beginning my teaching career served as an intelligence analyst with the U.S. Dept of Defense. Drawing on this background, I have written a spy/thriller novel THE OLD SPOOK about a fictional CIA operative (spook) who interacts with real people and actual events in recent history on the global stage, confronting guerrilla chieftains, Mafia dons, and KGB agents in Miami, Mexico, and Central and South America. It engages the reader in the art of espionage and craft of intelligence neatly packaged in a tale of adventure and intrigue. Here is the link to some really nice reviews: The Old Spook
This is definitely my favorite genre and I love action, adventure spy thrillers with heroes and heroines that are bad ass! I am looking forward to sharing and learning what you all are reading. Right now I am reading the third books in both the Olen Steinhauer's series, An American Spy as well as Lyle Christie's, The Gordita Conspiracy. Both are great archetypal heroes that I can't stop reading about.Looking forward to your suggestions too!
Hi Charles. We have specific promotional rules, and your last post is a violation, so it was deleted.
Hello All!I'm a big fan of action sci-fi (particularly Warhammer 40,000) and thriller's from Barry Eisler and Brad Thor.
I'm also the author of Into Darkness, an Iraq War novel.

Glad to be here!
Hi, welcome...and welcome anyone I've missed. GR stopped sending updates and I haven't checked back in a bit.
Hi, I'm Jenifer. I read Matthew Reilly, James Rollins, and Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child (together and separately).
Welcome Jenifer. Glad you could make it. Reily, Rollins, Preston/Childs are all well recieved here. (and more). Glad you found us.
Hello everyone! I am Dustin and I am a huge action adventure fan. I enjoy Clancy, Ridley Pearson, Chriton, and others. I love Matthew Reilly's style and particularly enjoyed the Scarecrow series. Cussler is my personal favorite. Basically, I will read anything with fast paced action. Same goes for movies.
HI Everyone, i joined a few days ago. I really like the action thriller stuff; Childs, Cussler and some of Sam Bourne's books....I'm reading Christine Findlyson's 'Tip of a Bone' at the moment. Always good to see an action heroine for a change. Ian Hamilton's Ava Lee series makes a refreshing change for the same reason.
Welcome all of the newcomers. You'll find this group fun, interesting, and opinionated. All good things.
Hi I am Mauricia, and I joined because I'm hoping you adventure book junkies can help. I read a novel a few years ago about a climb on Mt Everest and I'd like to re-read it, but can't remember the title or author. It begins with a young man joining his first volunteer rescue of a girl stuck in a crevasse, then goes on to tell of a group climb on Everest. Help, anyone?? I've searched the web for Everest novels, but can't find it. Thanks for any help.
HI Mauricia, Welcome! I've read a ton of Everest books - some really obscure ones - and I'm afraid that doesn't ring any bells!
This being the action-adventure Group, I was notified via secret message that if I didn't introduce myself, a black-clad operator sporting a sound-suppressed Colt .45 would slither into my bedroom under cover of darkness and snuff me out with a subsonic round to the temple while I slept. So without further ado...My name is Mark Allen and I'm a big fan of what I call the "guns 'n' guts" genre. I also happen to be an author, but don't worry, I'll be sparse with any self-promos. I'm really just here to talk the genre with fellow readers. Because while I write the genre, I read it even more.
As for authors I'm addicted to ... Stephen Hunter is my absolute favorite; the man just knows how to spin a "guy with a gun" tale better than anyone. I also enjoy Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger series, many (but not all) David Morrell books, the inimitable A.J. Quinnell, and of course Lee Child and Vince Flynn.
In the indie author department, I really enjoy Jack Badelaire ("Killer Instincts" was my favorite book of 2013), Stan R. Mitchell, Brian Drake, and Jack Silkstone.
I love bullets-and-blood bonanzas, but the best action-adventure novels are about more than gun-porn and spurting plasma; the best action-adventure novels have heart, soul and emotion.
Of course the hitman would put a subsonic round through your temple...the suppressor would be pointless if he didn't use subsonic rounds...sheesh.
Anyway, welcome. Pay no attention to the constant smell of burned cordite it's common around here...though we try to clean the blood up before it starts to smell.

Hey everyone! Spike from Florida here. Like "I.Carmudgeon", I'm also a retired Navy Chief. Unlike "I.Carmudgeon", I did NOT get bogged down with more work and school, which has allowed me more time for good reads, which my insufficient bank account proves. BTW, thanks for the invite Chief! :)I cut my action book chops on the likes of Tom Clancy - Jack Ryan, Richard Marcinko - Rogue Warrior, and Clive Cussler - Dirk Pitt. But they got somewhat repetitive...so reverted back to military Sci Fi with my faves being Heinlein, Steakly, Haldeman, and Scalzi. This group looks like the perfect place to get reacquainted with gratuitous amounts of sex, violence, blood n guts. I look forward to integrating with all you sickos. Here's to superior fire power!
Hi spikeINflorida, welcome (even if I was army). I'm on a military science fiction kick right now. Not that it isn't always a favorite area of reading for me. Think you'll find lots of suggestions here and I know I'm hoping to find action reads I haven't seen yet among your books.
Thank you everybody... even you Mike, being former Army that you are...LOL. From reading all of your input about favorite authors, I've already compiled a cool TBR list. Much thanks to all for sharing their faves. Rock n read!
Hi there. I'm a writer and reader. Fan of Lee Child and Barry Eisler, the UFC and Hendricks gin. Traditionally and self-published, under a pseudonym and my real name. Looking forward to finding new authors to enjoy and sharing respectful opinions with other readers. Promise not to shamefully flog my own stuff except where appropriate.
