Curmudgeon...wipe your mouth, you look odd with all the chocolate.
Welcome any and all I may have failed to welcome!
Just playing it safe and covering my bases.

This is my "hi" to the Action/Aficianados Group.I'm new to everything !
My debut novel is a historical fiction survival tale in 1600's Florida. Plenty of wilderness challenges , physical and emotional, greet the shipwrecked hero as he tries to return to Spain.
Much research and many Florida sites used.
Welcome Henry. We're glad to have you. Your book looks really interesting.
We had a group read not to long featuring Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini and I loved Dudley Pope's Ramage.
I'll add you and your books to our Honnor Rolls.

Sounds like my kind of story. Welcome to A/A, Henry.

Welcome, Sean.

Welcome Alessio! We're glad to have you join us.
By the way... I was stationed in Naples for 3 years when I was in the Navy. I'm not much of a translator and gave it up when the Man at the AGIP station asked me to stop trying to speak Italian because he could understand my English better.
I still chuckle about that. Welcome aboard!

To all the new members (and veterans), we are voting for the theme for our February read right now. You can find the poll here:

I find reading the action/adventure to be better even than watching tv and for the life of me don't understand why they don't convert more of these books into movies on the big screen.
Hoping to find more comrades with similar tastes and be introduced to new books and authors through this group of like souls. Looking forward to participating.

Halloo~ :) Welcome!

Any suggestions of adventure authors would be welcome.

welcome Joan. We're a lot of multi-genre enjoyers here. It's good to see you here. I liked McDermott's Atlantis story.

My two favorites, still, are two of the 'originals' in this genre ... Alastair MacLean and Desmond Bagley. If you haven't already read them, they are both excellent.
I'd say yes, there's a lot of positive feelings for James Rollins, both his Sigma Force Novels an his stand alones. If you like modern fantasy (mosters, vampires, werewolves etc.) Monster Hunter Interntational is developing a big following and, there is a lot of action and adventure in those books.

@Magiccats, I think that all the time. I wish they would make more movies out of the action books I read.
I'll second, Monster Hunter International!

Welcome, Joan. The Heirophant looks interesting.
I am not crazy about McDermott. I think he should remember some basic facts of physics--like water only runs downhill. ;-) But he spins a fine tale.
I like some Cusslers. Depends on who the co-author is. I especially like his 'Issac Bell' series, particularly 'The Chase.' I believe he wrote that one by himself.
Yea, welcome Travis and Magiccats...how could we miss Magic Cats? welcome, glad you guys are here too!.

I'm on the library list for The Tombs. Very interested to see how this reads as I like some but not all of the Cusslers and some of Thomas Perry's books are on my "love and re-read often" list.

Welcome Renee! Glad your here. Im a fan of "The Killing Floor" too, you might like The Sentry by Robert Crais (Joe Pike #1)

Hi Lisa, welcome. We're glad you here. Dark ice is a fun read. If you check out the discussion threads, you may also get a lot of good ideas for reads. And of course, if you run out of ideas, most of us here have our favorites and we'll gladly share which books those are with you.

I'm starting Dark Ice tonight. Thanks for the welcome!
Lisa
Welcome, Lisa. Definitely dive into the discussion for Beneath the Dark Ice, when you get a chance!

My name is David and I've been reading and writing horror and fantasy for a while, but now I'm hoping to add more action books to my shelves. I enjoy Tom Clancy, Louis L'Amour, James Clavell, and Michael Chrichton, but I hope to find more authors here.
