Traci, I'm glad to see you here. I think just about anything you consider A/A belongs here. It's either the reader or the writer that decides and most writers don't like making that decision so... enjoy what you like.
I'm partial to Ludlum and James Rollins, but, as you'll see, there are a lot of good action adventure writers out there and have always been.
I'm glad to see you here. Welcome! If I can help you get started, let me know. I'll be glad to sugguest something.

Hi Traci. What Hugh said. The group is specifically to discuss action-themed books, so those can be in any genre.
I truly love action-oriented stories, and I will read most any genre of book that has good action scenes.

I do read alot of urban fantasies as well. Like the Dresden Files, I'd consider those action-y.
You could consider "Hounded" as actiony too. I think talking about it here, doesn't preclude claiming a genre for it somewhere else. There's plenty of action in Hounded.
Haven't read that one, I may get to it, MrsJ really likes it I think... :)
Of course the Dresden books could be considered action, Harry generally get the snot beat out him during each. I'm usually tire by the time their over.

That just occurred to me that our initials are AAA! Very cool.
Mike, thumbs up for Hounded from me too.

I just figured that one out, too, Lady D. I had to sound it out to figure it out, too. Sad, huh? LOL
and in my line of work, I was okay with the "AA" initials... but I wasn't going to say anything.

Welcome all...duck!
See, it's an action adventure sight and I yelled duck, huh, huh, huh...sorry.

what does "bigh" mean????? :)
That aside, yes. Remember the little boy whose mother dressed him as a duck for Halloween?

YOU DON"T!?!?!? He had a lisp. At one point he had to throw his flippers away to run and he exclaims "forgive me mother I'll make it to you thum day thum how!" True art. He came to mind because he was running down the road and a police officer (note how I did not use the word "cop" which annoys some police) cries out to the police chief (who is driving) "Duck!" the police chief ducks, but the officer points out the windshield and yells again "Duck"...pointing at the child.
Funny if you watched the movie...kind of lame sounding if you have to explain it.
BY the way, I was joking, I do "hit 2 letters" typo thing all the time.

"It's a boobytrap and we're the boobies."
"Who died and left you in charge?"
"Captain Bibto."
;p Spaced Invaders is a favorite movie.
okay, Gallbladder attack, Earthquake, surgery, surgery re-scheduled, now tornadoes and severe thunderstorms and a hurricane. This summer is starting to suck.
What's next, Meteor strike?
Somebody up there doesn't like me.

Sorry to hear about your gallbladder attack, they can be terrible!!! Hope it wasn't because of "Irene" they rescheduled your surgery.
Yes, all local, We're right across the bridge from Richmond, earthquake was close enough to feel and shake buildings (like the one I was in. The tornado sirens were going off here and the tv alerts and all. The Huricane center is projected to pass just outside of Norfolk (after crossing North Carolina and still be a cat 1 or 2 storm by the time it gets to us, we're in hurican winds warning zone (though I think if we have it come this close it will be less than that where I'm at.
and the gall bladder was cancled because my surgeon eithe quit or was fired. (of all the luck) I've been battling this for about 6 years now. Had about 30 attacks (not sure if their all stones) and been to the hospital three times because of it. (that hurts!)
So, that's about as local as it gets.
Sorry, about calling down the wrath of god on any one that lives close to me. My bad.

Hugh, just make sure you never say, "This can't get worse." I always find that when you say that you find out that, yes, things can get worse. LOL
Hugh, can't you have that surgery as an emergency if you're admitted in the emergency room? That's how my aunt had hers done. Maybe you should go in during one of the attacks. I hope you and everyone will be safe from the hurricane.
The attacks aren't close enough together. It may not be gallstones, but the HIDA Scan shows my gallbladder as definitely blocked. I was in the ER when I met the first surgeon. that huge link will show you the projected weather graph from NOAH... notice the wind speed about midnight on Saturday going into Sunday.

As for the gallbladder. I've had about 4-10 attacks per year for the past six years. They quit after about 6 hours. The last two sent me to the ER (the last one was absolutely by far worse than the others. And there was one earlier time I went to the ER.
When it first started happening, I knew it would end in about 4-6 hours. Now the pain's too bad for that. (when I have an attack) and It feels like I have a chunk of something just under my ribs. (more pain over the last week or so than I'm used to. Time to get it out.
I do appreciate everyone's concern. THe hurricane is more worrisome than this right now. We don't live in my gallbladder.

I have heard that it is exquisitely painful to have those attacks. My heart goes out to you, Hugh.

Exactly!! Almost as bad as "That won't happen to me."

Painful... yes, it reminds me of Alien(s)... now I know what it would feel like. It's the only pain that has sent me to the ER 3x now.
The day to day symptoms don't bug me so much. I'm a frog, put me in a pot and slowly turn the heat up, i'll think I'm fine until I boil, drop me in boiling water and I'll jump out instantly.

Oh, my ... how did I miss that one? (Off to Amazon!)
High Citadel has always been my favorite of Bagley's books, loved the idea of a group of people holding off the terrorists with the help of a professor who was an expert in medieval warfare! Landslide is another of my favorites as well, totally different but equally compelling.
