Larry Garner (larryanimalgarner) | 34 comments Hello there...
I'm new here, but love action-driven novels. I read 2-3 books a week, have gone through many, many dozens of boxes of books over the years. I only keep a few dear "friends" for re-reading. I hope to find new (to me) authors here.

message 922: by Alan (new)

Alan Hi,
I'm Alan Zacher, and I'm fifty-eight-years-old. I live in St. Louis, Missouri. I love action novels. I joined Goodreads when Post Mortem Press published my debut mystery novel "I'm No P. I." Last year, I epublished a novel with Amazon called "A Ghoulish Good Time." It's three spooky tales of light horror. Because of having MS, I don't get out much. I'm glad to be a part of this group. message 925: by Janny (new)

Janny (jannywurts) | 18 comments Hello, new here. My enjoyment of action adventure began early, when I rifled books from Dad's library. Alasdair MacLean, John D. MacDonald, Ken Follet were early favorites. Later, Dad and I enthusiastically swapped books until he passed on. I still have his Tom Clancy books. I've also enjoyed Eric Lustbader, and most recently, Deep Shadow by Randy Wayne White. My husband (cover illustrator and artist) recently attended a signing, and we now have his latest, Gone. I look forward to reading how he'll handle a female protagonist.

message 932: by Janny (new)

Janny (jannywurts) | 18 comments Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I'll hold back, on that poll, Lady Danielle, it seems a little tipped towards horror. I like my action and adventure inclined toward the thrill, not the scare.

message 942: by Jennings (new)

Jennings Wright | 37 comments Hi! Still exploring Goodreads, and happy to find this group. I've been reading action/adventure the last couple of years, and really enjoyed it. I don't read anything too hard core (meaning gross or scary), but I like novels with a treasure hunt theme. The first one I read was "Map of Bones" by James Rollins, and loved it. In July I published a treasure hunt adventure, now available on Amazon, called Solomon's Throne (guess what they're searching for?!), and a sequel will be out next month called The Hoard of the Doges. I write in other genres too - I'm kind of ADD, I think!

I'm looking forward to the group - I'm going to finally have some time to read after this weekend, and look forward to recommendations here.

Welcome, Jennings. I read Sandstorm by Rollins earlier this year and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely read more of his work. We have a Featured Author program you should check out.

Hi, welcome.

message 945: by Jennings (new)

Jennings Wright | 37 comments I really like Rollin's books (except his latest, Bloodline, which I quit halfway through). His early ones are more sci-fi thriller, and then he got into the treasure hunt/save the world ones with Sigma Force and those are my favorites. They still have sci-fi elements. Pretty interesting mix. I'll check out the program, thanks!

Hello Jennings, welcome. I'm glad your here.

I really enjoyed the James Rollins "Sigma Force Series." I've read all of them up through Blood lines. Even the short stories that fit in there neatly.

You might also like Clive Cussler's Spartan Gold. I didn't find it scary, the story and history-mystery were pretty entertaining, and, the lead characters turned out to be a married couple.

Spartan Gold is at my library on audio. I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it, but I will!

Jennings, I like how Rollins mixes high tech science with ancient history treasure hunting.

message 948: by Jennings (new)

Jennings Wright | 37 comments I, Curmudgeon, thanks - I'll check it out! I have a nice break but my TBR list is so long, I won't be doing much but reading! haha

Lady Danielle, yes, I like that too. I LOVED searching for treasure as a kid, and his books really inspired me when I started writing again. I don't have the tech knowledge that he does, but that historical/modern element I use in pretty much everything in every genre!

message 949: by Linda (new)

Linda Anders | 6 comments I'm new to Goodreads and still trying to figure out how it works, but I'm already glad I joined this group. Will be getting your book, Jennings, since it is in my favorite genre. LindaA
