We, the moderators, have been ironing out the guidelines to hold a monthly read featuring books written by A/A Aficionado group members. We hope to have a featured group read worked out for September with a voting/nominations thread to open up in August.

Stay tuned!

We're excited about it too. It will be interesting. I've always felt we should be recognizing the authors that have chosen to join discussions with us here and adhere to some pretty strict moderating about when and where they can display and advertise their books. I think we're pretty close to starting that. It'll be good to get into the books written by our own Afictionados.

Caine Dorr (cainedorr) | 1 comments Hi my name is Caine and I love action! Character development can take a back seat if the action is full throttle.

In addition to reading action I write it as well.

Tim Fairchild (timfairchild) | 69 comments Hi everyone! I finally took the plunge and joined Goodreads. I'm an avid Action Adventure junkie :-). Cussler, DeBrul, and Clancy are some of my favs. I even entered my first novel in the Clive Cussler Adventure Writers Competition. Actually made the finals! I'm glad to find an Action Adventure group here. Very cool! :-)

Hi Tim, welcome. If you need any help or explanation (this group or any other) feel free to ask a question! We'll help as we can.

Let us know how Your book does in the CCAWC? That sound very exciting, cool and fun (and probably a little unfun, but worth it). Glad you're here.

message 867: by Tim (new)

Tim Fairchild (timfairchild) | 69 comments Thank you Hugh. It's been almost a year since I entered the competition. Once the winner is announced, I'll be able to release it in print.

welcome Dipanjan! I don't believe in Libraries ether., just Kindle and the 1/2 priced book store.

I'm glad to hear that someone else reviews all the books they read. I try to. There's a lot of old books that I read a while back that I have yet to write a review on.

I can't wait to share some reviews and enjoy some good book discussions. Welcome.

Yeah that reminds me of the Movie In and out, with Kevin Klien, Matt Dillon was up for an Academy award and the actors he was up against (For Best Actor) read like this. "Clint East Wood for 'Coot'.... Jack Lemon for 'Codger'.... and Steven Segall for ... 'Snowballs Chance in Hell."

And this bit that was hilarious.

Hello, mardix. Welcome to Action/Aventure Aficionados.

We're glad you're here.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
Hi Mardix, welcome.

Sorry guys I had to go to bed last night and am just getting back.... lattes???? Noooooo, isn't that that coffee they make for women? Personally I drink iced tea, even in winter. And Hugh I'm not really what quiche is...I never even allow it to enter my mind. I had to have my daughter type the word.

Excuse me I have to go clean my guns, sharpen my knives and feed my wolf...

Eileen Throwing in my 2 cents...I enjoy a good cup of black coffee, with occasionally throw in a little Irish Whiskey for medicinal purposes.

I make a mean quiche, lol.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
But I was enjoying your "lip"....

Quiche, that's like when you've made a skillet of scrambled eggs and you spill the eggs and some other stuff in the pie crust you had prepared for the desert. Right?

Oh well, I'm glad you enjoy it.

I tend to eat a lot of roast beef and hot mustard. Sort of stereotypical now that I think about it.

:)

message 891: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Sending the virtual high five back, Pam!

When I lived in Florida in my early twenties and I didn't have alot of money I lived on eggs. Being that they were only 19¢ a dozen. There isn't anything I can't do with a egg.

Eileen Roast beef is huge in my town. When you order roast beef in a resturant it comes in a kimmelwick roll and horseradish on the side.

Mike, that's close to a quiche, not sure if I like to try your recipe, lol.

Isn't Quiche another word for scrambled eggs with ... stuff.... in it?

I think to be quiche the scrambled eggs and stuff have to be in a crust...

Maybe it's "lip balm"????

A quick note to all of our members who are Authors.

I'm going to go down this list as best I can and pull out all the Authors to add to our "Honor Roll" in the Featured Member-Author Group Reads section.

This is the 930th post so I have a lot to go through. If you don't want to wait for me to find you, you can post on the thread itself and I'll add you there.

Here's a quick link:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...

You may already be on the list.

To have one of your books eligible for nomination to the Featured Member-Author Group Reads all you have to do is post on the Book list with the book title and I'll add it to the list for you. Then, when the Nomination Phase comes, anyone (including you) may nominated it for the next (in this case the first) Featured Member Author Group Read.

Here's the link to the thread for posting your books:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...

For the first one (the group read in September, taking nominations soon), it'll be like submitting it twice, but, once it's on the list, it will stay as long as you are a member of A/A Aficionados unless you want it taken down.
