Oh and lately I've been reading the Matt Helm novels by Donald Hamilton and the Travis McGee novels. In the past year I've gotten very retro in my novels.
I looked up a few of the old Matt Helms books a while back...man are they expensive if you try to buy them.
Hi Nina, welcome back(?) :)

The local animal shelter has a thrift shop in my home town. I can pick them up for 50 cents a book. Some of them are a little worn out, but hey at two for a dollar I can live with broken spines and turned down corners.
I looked on line and they go for a bit often and my favorite used book stores here didn't have any of them. I also hunted down some of the old Man From U.N.C.L.E. books from my youth. They were (strangely I suppose) a bit easier to find.
Welcome back Nina!Sorry to say, I have never read any of the Matt Helm books. I have watched my share of Matt Helm movies.

You've probably heard this before, but the books are better.
Welcome to the group, Checkman, and welcome back, Nina. I'm a newbie myself, so I probably wasn't around when you went away, LOL.

Always glad to welcome another fan of MacLean ... have you read any of the Desmond Bagley books? Another old favorite of mine.
Hi all, my name is Kim and I'm a bookaholic.(Any surprise there?:D) I read a lot of genres, but am a really big fan of historical fiction, mystery and romance, and also mysteries in general--all kinds as a matter of fact from hard-boiled, action-adventure to cozies. I also like sci-fi and fantasy, especially if there is action, adventure, intrigue and\or mystery. I'm not really a fan of any one author over another but as mentioned I'm really a big fan of mysteries, and historical fiction(and a general history buff as well). Right now I'm listening to The Fallen, featuring a Johannesburg SA PI named Jade de Jong, and am really enjoying it. It's not super high-octane but still pretty suspenseful and intriguing.
Hello, I'm a fan of Lee Child, James Rollins, Jeff Deavcer, et al. Currently reading Steve Berry's "Columbus Affair".

Hi, my name is Steve Trotter and some of the authors I enjoy reading are Lee Child, Robert Crais, Elmore Leonard and Carl Hiaasen. I'm a new guy to goodreads, but look forward to the adventure.Cheers,
Steve
Hi Steve! Welcome to Action Adventure Aficionados. If there is any questions I can answer, please ask.
Lee Childs and Robert Crais I'm familiar with and have enjoyed very much. I'm less familiar with the other too. I'm an Old Lundlum and Desmond Bagely fan, but I like a lot of different books myself.
I'm looking forward to you joining our discussions.

Hi, Pam, Mike, Lady Danielle and Curmudgeon. Thanks for welcoming me to your group. I appreciate the opportunity to join in the action.Cheers,

Hi, I'm Joe and am really getting into Goodreads. I read widely and enjoy stories with interesting and unusual action/adventure themes. I'm also a writer and hope to respectfully introduce people to some of my work.
Hi folks. My name is Chris. I enjoy books/stories of all types. I tend to get into ruts when I read(currently been on a scifi/fantasy kick) and then kind of burn out. So I'm trying to be proactive and branch out before I crash and burn on scifi/fantasy. I have read some of the authors from your bookshelf, so I thought I would hop in and test the waters.

Yep... when I first saw that clip, I was on the Battleship Wisconsin (USS Wisconsin) in the first Gulf War watching with a guy from Texas.
He had this thick Texas accent and all he could say while Reba was shooting those guns and stuff was.
"that's one hell of a woman there....That's ONE HE-LL of a woman there.... that's one hell of a woman there!"
We hope he was trying to be funny.
