I am also working on my Aussie accent. I think that might help...Yeah, it's the hair and the accent. I shall repeat that to myself until I believe it :).

Well, it might also help if you can pull of some impressive Mixed Martial Art's moves. I know a couple.. like the "bring me a beer" pose and don't touch my "popcorn slap ." But.. those might not qualify.
If I cut my hair shorter, I do have the hairline.

Thank you Alice. I was begining to think everyone had forgotton I'm funny...(which happens way more often than I care to admit... sometimes I even forget myself.)

Hahahahahahaha!!!!!
You know what always beats me? I can never manage to keep my face looking like I haven't shaved for a day.... How do you do that? Not clean shaven, but not a beard either????
I just gave up and went for a Van Dyke (goatee plus mustache).... Of course that means that somewhere in the Star Trek Universe there's a "good version" of me. I have a bit of trouble accepting I'm the "dark" persona.

ROFL. Good episode reference.(I am almost a little ashamed that I got it immediately....ok, I guess this is the right place to let my inner nerd run free)

But I don't have the patience to have a Snidely Whiplash mustache. You have to wax it to keep the handlebar look.
No mustache right????? I learned that from Sheldon Cooper. Also that what I made for dinner tonight isn't really chili, even though I've always called it chili...it has beans.
Hello everyone, I am new to Goodreads and to the group but I am gradually finding my way around the site. I wear a couple of hats having published a book on Kindle recently and I am an avid reader of many genres especially thrillers and action/adventure novels. I look forward to taking part in many of the discussions to come and if any of you get to reading my novel I look forward to your feedback.
Apparently Hugh, a goatee is chin whiskers without a mustache, a van dyke is chin whiskers with a mustache. I only go with the information I got from Sheldon (ever watch The Big Bang Theory?). So, it seems you also have a Van Dyke.
Yah, Sheldon's a know it all....
Oh, Welcome, Maurice.

Hello everyone, I am a big fan of Action/Adventure movies but for some reason just have not read many books in that genre. Definitely want to change that. The most recent Action/Adventure I read was The Hunger Games which I loved. My wife and I are the pround owners of the recently launched Bradley Publishing and have recieved some great horror and romance submissions. We would love to publish some Action/Adventure novels, novellas, and compilations as well! Email me at zeb@bradleypublishings.com
Hi, I am a writer and reader living in Maine. As a reader, I'm guilty of skipping ahead during books to get to get to the action, then going back and filling in the gaps. Terrible, I know...but I can't help it.
As a writer, I spend at least four times as long putting together action scenes in my stories, and like to tell them from multiple POV's. I also like to describe weapons, but I have recently backed away from any excruciating detail. Like my reading, I find myself looking forward to the action scenes, and often have to go back and make sure I didn't gloss over the in-between scenes.
Look forward to making some great recommendations (not my own...no fear)
Thanks, Hugh. I've been a part of a Post Apocalyptic group at GR for quite a while, and have really enjoyed every aspect of it. My new story falls solidly in the thriller category, so I figured I should expand my horizons. I've read some great indie action/adventure recently...stuff most might not take a chance on, so I'll be able to help recommend some stuff that I've personally vetted. Of course, I'm a little partial to the indie writer scene...but it takes a little time to wade through the muck (and who has extra time)
Your welcome Steven. I'm fairly new at GR, but I've enjoyed discussion groups on all sorts of things. I'm a fan of mainstream (ish) actin adventure like Clive Cussler and James Rollins, but I am armed with Kindle and regularly plunge into the Indie world too. I'll read anything that's fiction and exciting. It does take time to wade through the muck, or dig through the dirt but every now and then, when you get a chance to wash the muck off, you can find a diamond or two in there.
I'm always interested in recommendations for good reads. I give a few of my own now and then (recommendations I mean). If I had written something, I'd plug it for sure, unfortunately, I'm only a coniseur of good reads not a producer.
I look foreward to the discussions to come.

Welcome, Steven!
We have quite a few indie authors on here, and they are encouraged to add their books to the group shelf and to start promo threads in the promo section. I am also partial to indie authors, although I also read mass market books.

Thanks, Lady Daniel. I read plenty of mass-market books too. A good book is a good book, and I have my favs. I posted my books in the promo thread, and will add to the shelf. So funny, I joined this group in Oct, but got caught up in launching mt 2nd novel...which is why I became confused..happens too often.
FYI, the cable and internet are out at my house (sigh) again. I don't know when it'll be back. Hopefully it'll be up today. If you don't hear from me, that's why.
