Jim | 4 comments I've read the first two books just last month and they are the best books I've read this year. The second one wasn't nearly as good as the first. It felt like it was more filler to get to the third novel and didn't stand alone as well as the first one did. I'll read the third as soon as I can get a copy of it.

As for the movie, I read that Suzanne Collins wrote the script for the first movie so hopefully it will be more true to the novel than other adaptations. The trailers look good.

Steph (stefani_88) I love the Hunger Games series. I really like books with a strong female character like Katniss and I had to read The Hunger Games in one sitting because I simply couldn't finish at the end of any chapter. It's so action packed and well-written. Some of the deaths really got to me and I wasn't particularly happy with Gale's ending, being such a huge fan of his.

I can't wait to re-read all the books before the movie is released! Admittedly, I was a little apprehensive about the movie when I first heard about it but after watching the trailer a million times, I'm just plain psyched! I wasn't sure about some of the cast choices (especially Josh Hutcherson for Peeta) but I was totally won over after seeing the photo of him standing outside the bakery. He IS Peeta now, imo. How amazingly spot-on is Effie in the trailer!?

The best I've seen in awhile. It was (give or take a few small details) just as i imagined it.

Sierra (Amator_Librorum) | 2 comments I Loved all three Hunger Games books when I read them. I thought the emotion and action Suzanne Collins brought out with her words was just breathtaking. I am very happy that the movie managed to keep the same level of energy. I can't wait to see Catching Fire on the big screen.

The HG movie is better than that, they did a good job with it. At least, I thought they did.

Ok ok, I will! Now I have to get someone to buy them for me. :) I didn't read them when they first came out because even though I liked the story, the book was too thin! But now I think they're worth it.

Aura I enjoyed watching the movie but I felt it changed Katniss's personality. C'mon, everyone loved her for being such a bitch at times! Not even the “You’ve got about as much charm as a dead slug” line matched any more!

Aura You mean Rue.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1269 comments I liked Rue a lot better in the book. But then again I liked most of the characters better

Tanvira (tanvira12) I love the Hunger Games, it's one of my favourites! So I wrote this: http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/2...
I just missed the series, so... hope you like it!

True, that's what I love about it. The Reaping always takes my breath away

Yes, there is beauty in its darkness. The Reaping tugs at my heartstrings every time I watch it. And that scene where The Hunger Games begins, it was so mesmerizing. I love its breakneck pace, too.

♥ Rebecca ♥ | 1653 comments I have been wondering since reading the first book, why did Peeta request to be trained separately?

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1269 comments Rebecca ♥ Ash, Jem, Kishan ♥ wrote: "I have been wondering since reading the first book, why did Peeta request to be trained separately?"

I think he wanted to start distancing himself from her, plus he needed to set himself apart for the sponsors. Not completely sure tho, any other thoughts?

Debbie Davies (debbie16) | 23 comments that is a good point if he was in love with her why would he want to be seperated from her at all even in training? Maybe he was planning on doing it solo and thats why he joined with the careers once he was in the arena and then when he saw her he realised he couldnt do it

 ♥ Rebecca ♥ | 1653 comments I don't think so. I don't think he ever intended to survive.

 ♥ Rebecca ♥ | 1653 comments Strategic how? I don't get it.

Also, around that time he must have made the deal with the careers so he would help Katniss as much as he could. I think he always wanted her to win. And he asked for separate training to put the distance between them so she wouldn't feel guilty and help her with his plan at the same time.

The only explanaition I could think of was that he wanted to convince the careers that he really would help them kill her, and so he could claim not to know how she got her 11. Which I guess is what your saying. But I wasn't sure if the others would even be aware of whether or not he trained with her.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1269 comments Hmm yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking and what I meant. I was also thinking that maybe he was trying to make it easier to kill him if it came down to it by not being friends with her. I dunno...

Aahhh, I see. Yeah, it was probably a combination of those reasons.

Lexi (Pink Jellyfish) (blackjack13) | 61 comments O.o im not seein it like that... he wanted 2 do things separately because he thought he was inferior to her and so that he wouldn't be seen as a week one...c'mon guys a man has his pride!

I dont think his concern for himself, or even how he looked to her, could ever be as great as his need to protect her.

Lexi (Pink Jellyfish) (blackjack13) | 61 comments i thought of that also that he wanted 2 be trained sperately so he could try harder to protect her, besides i think his plan was to gang up with the strong so that she could think of his as a traitor , to be easier 4 her to kill him wif no hard feelings...

Yvonne hey all, I just joined this group and thought I'd chime in a little bit. Just finished the whole series in a week and completely in love with it. :)

I originally thought the reason Peeta wanted to be trained separately was because he's giving her space after seeing her reaction to his public national tv confession, but what ya'll said made tons of sense.

Do any of you think we'll ever see the book in either Gale's or Peeta's point of view as another sequel? That'll be neat.

Hi Yvonne, so glad you liked it!! Hmm, I guess it depends on Suzanne Collins. She has lived and breathed the Hunger Games for half a decade now so she may want to try something new :) it would be awesome if she wanted to do something like that though! Although I'm also excited to see what she comes up with next!!

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1269 comments Ooh I see you're reading Divergent now, I hope you like it too!

Yvonne David wrote: "Ooh I see you're reading Divergent now, I hope you like it too!"

Yes! I am! cant wait to finish it in the next couple of days, and i heard that the second book of the series is coming out in a couple of weeks as well. excited!

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1269 comments Yes, May 1st it will be out and I'll be reading it LOL

Misty (intoreadin) | 123 comments I feel like I'm a bit late to the game with this series. I want to read it but at the same time I really want to see the movie. I know myself and if I don't get around to reading the books before the movie comes out on dvd or directv I won't read them. I have to read the book before seeing the movie...I don't know why it's just how I do it.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1269 comments Never too late, my wife just read all three books over the last couple weeks and loved them. Then we saw the movie and loved it too :)

Misty (intoreadin) | 123 comments You're right...I'm gonna have to just read them. I'll be so mad at myself if I see the movie before I read them.
