Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments PS - I think Addy just loves the idea of Pete+baby just like she likes the idea of the easy friend/lover relationship option in Sam.

message 302: by Rociel (new)

Rociel | 28 comments Addy flip flops WAY to much between the men in this show. It loses its essence.

message 303: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I agree....she needs to date outside the practice. LOL

Holli *****Twitter Spoiler****

TVGuide Twitter exclusive: There is a marriage proposal in the season finale of Private Practice
about 11 hours ago via web

message 305: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments oopse....I didn't click on your link in time to see the PRivate Practice gossip. Can you sum it up for me?

message 306: by Holli (new)

Holli That's all it was. It was a post on Twitter that said there is a marriage proposal in the finale.

message 307: by Holli (new)

Holli I liked this past week's episode... I'm glad that Violet is back.

message 308: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments Some how I totally missed a new episode. I don't think my DVR caught it. Watching it now

message 309: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments *sigh* They couldn't make Violet more normal now, could they. They had to go from one extreme to the other. REally? Soul custody immediately? How irrational can you get and frankly pretty damn mean to Pete!

And was it Pete who went off on Addy after he caught her kissing Sam? Damn....want was it he said? I practically applauded....

message 310: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I had to look it up....
"You get a little scared, you act a little crazy...boo-freakin-whoo! Get over it!!" LOL

message 311: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 375 comments I just started watching..I really like it! It's very "soapy".
I was surprised that Pete was so willing to give the baby to Violet. She didn't even have to prove herself after acting so strangly before she left.

message 312: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I don't think they are going to make her "normal" hence her thinking she is suddenly capable of being what she "should have been" in the first place.

Holli FINALE SPOILERS------paraphrased from TV guide

"Somebody is going to die" promises Paul Adelstein, who plays pediatrician Cooper Freedman, adding, "I can't tell you who, but I can say its beautifully written and very upsetting." The identity of the character, who is an original cast member, will actually be revealed in the May 6 episode, making for a dramatic and devastating finale.

But it isn't all tragic. Shonda Rhimes is very good at giving the sweet and sour of life at the same moment. In this case, the happyish moments come during both a birth and a marriage.

message 314: by Holli (new)

Holli I just watched last night's episode and I felt really bad for everyone involved in that whole fiasco. I don't think that Violet sharing custody with Pete is a bad thing. She's his mother and she has honestly done what she can to protect him from the hell she was going through. I can see how Pete doesn't trust her just yet... that's understandable... but she went through something HORRIFIC. Of course she'd be screwed up beyond belief for that and I thought it was good of her to make sure Lucas was taken care of while she put herself back together.

I think it makes more sense now that we've seen what she did when she was gone....

message 315: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I think they screwed up a bit....in last week's episode Violet said she wanted FULL custody, during the trail I heard them say shared custody and then at the end Pete was granted Full. Very confusing.
I think if she had asked for shared custody she probably would have got it, should have got it. But to come back and (I assume its what the writers intended) ask for full custody is a bit of a stretch. The judge did say she can repotition in a few months. Basically, (IMO) get your bairings with the kid and refile.

The thing that bugged me is how everyone answered the "is Violet a good parent" question. Whether they said yes or no, I think they all answered wrong. Again, IMO. No one has seen her be a mother. Yes, the decisions she made were for Lucas, I don't challange that, but she has not done any hands on mom stuff. How could they have answered that question?!

message 316: by Holli (new)

Holli She did want full and then I think she amended it to shared after meeting with her lawyer. The judge awarded Pete full custody because the judge didn't think it was good for Violet to have custody. She'll have supervised visitation but not custody. Visitation and custody are two different things. The parent with custody decides everything for the child.. medical decision, educational decisions, where they live... and then visitation is just when they spend time with the kid.

The judge wanted to know if she was a FIT mother. Meaning, is she of sound mind... is she on drugs... is she neglectful.... can she care for another human. Is she ok enough to be trusted with a kid. I think they were answering based on that kind of criteria.

message 317: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I think it was a bad decision on Violets part to go for the custody issue immediately. People hadn't seen her in I guess months. How is that not going to effect their responses or if not by their choosing then the info the lawyer gets out of them.

Holli Private Practice Cast Dishes on Tragic Season Finale
May 12, 2010 10:17 PM ET
by Natalie Abrams

Grab a few boxes of tissues, a pint of ice cream or a bottle of wine, because — according to KaDee Strickland — these are things you'll need while watching the season finale of Private Practice.

"It's very Godfather-y," adds Paul Adelstein. "Everything gets wrapped up. Today we settle all family business." So what business needs to be settled? Get the scoop on the devastating season finale — which includes at least one death — straight from the cast below:

Game on: "There's a battle between Sheldon [Brian Benben:] and Cooper for Charlotte's affections," says Adelstein who plays Cooper. "Amidst all of this craziness, Cooper sees Sheldon closing in and also feels scared in the face of what's happening to Maya [Geffri Maya Hightower:], so he goes for it."

Who wins? "There's every reason to believe these two can make it," says Strickland on Charlotte and Cooper. "In real life, it's the strangest pairings that work out best."

Home wrecker much? "I don't want to break up Pete [Tim Daly:] and Addison [Kate Walsh:]," says Amy Brenneman. "If there is breaking up, that's not my thing. I think she's extremely respectful and grateful."

Reunited and it feels so good: "There is always a possibility to reconcile friendships," says Walsh of Addison's estrangement from Naomi (Audra McDonald) this season. Adds McDonald: "In the stress of the moment, Naomi tries to make peace with Addison."

Less baby drama than we thought? "Dell [Chris Lowell:] helps deliver Maya's baby," teases Lowell.

Tragedy unites: "There's nothing like a great tragedy to bring people together," says Walsh of the divided practice after Violet and Pete's custody battle. "In the end, even if they have these rivalries, they all kind of grow up in the face of tragedy."

Grab some Kleenex: "You better get your hankies out and you might want to get a pint of ice cream because this [finale:] is going to knock you on your tail; either that or a bottle of wine. That's Dr. Charlotte King's prescription," Strickland jokes about her character. Adds Brenneman: "It'll be devastating for the audience, so if you want a bang for your buck, you're going to get it."

message 319: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I guess I'd better make sure I've got some good munchies for tonights episode!

message 320: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments *sniff sniff, honking noise from blowing my snotty nose, snif sniff*
Dell?!! No!!! Why Dell?!!! *sniff sniff* I didn't see that coming, damn it. Damn you Private Practice! *sniff sniff*

I love the actor; I loved the Dell character so sweet and all around good guy, even when he told his dying drug addict wife off last year and damn it, what about poor Betsy?!! Hasn't that kid been through enough?!!!! I know she and Dell are not major characters but come on!!!! *sniff sniff*

message 321: by Holli (new)

Holli I cried too... so sad... last week I was sure it would be Maya and then once I saw that Dell was refusing treatment so they would help Maya first I had an inkling... then thought no it wouldn't be him after they did the first surgery.... and then it was. SOOO sad.

But what an episode!! I'm assuming William is gone too? Seems that way anyways. And I'm actually glad that Addison and Sam are together and Violet and Pete and Cooper and Charlotte (FINALLY!). But poor Sheldon. I think that next season they need to bring someone on for him......

here is a link to an interview TV guide did with Dell about the finale:

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Private-P...

message 322: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments Yeah, I didn't get the William thing. Was Naomi's doc-co-worker (forget his name) telling her he suddenly died? I know the two guys had the conversation earlier when William told him it was too late for the treatment but I can't imagine he just keeled over. Man, that is one shitty day all around for those people.

I'm still not keen on Addison & Sam. I think they both need to date outside the practice. Heck, somebody needs to seriously date outside the practice. I'm happy for Pete & Violet and relived/happy for Coop & Violet. But enough is enough, people! Stop dating your co-workers!

message 323: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments Just read the interview with actor who plays Dell. Glad he was on bored with it but I'm a little bummed by the concept he wanted Dell to be killed off since he's never been killed off of something. *sigh* no concideration for his character's daughter. I know, I know, its dumb. But that's the part that really got me.

Holli Shonda Rhimes on Dell's Death

After the Season 2 finale, I called Chris Lowell. He was on top of a mountain in Africa. That's the kind of guy he is. He's a spirited traveler who considers the world a small place. Give him three days off and he returns with stories of running with bulls in Pamplona. We'd had this feeling for a while, he and I, that his character didn't have enough to do. Dell was a midwife in a world of doctors. babies can only be delivered in so many episodes. Dell got lots of coffee, answered lots of phones. Mostly he handed people charts. Now, Chris is an amazing actor, talented and giving; an actor of his caliber should be doing Shakespeare, not handing people charts. So we decided that we'd exit his character from the show. But we disagreed on how. I wanted him in med school, happy with Betsey. Chris wanted to die. "I want to go in a devastating way" he said. He's a mountain-top guy, he likes a challenge. So I took a deep breath and headed for the writers' room. There's a lot I'll remember about Dell, from the kid with the surfboard that he was to the man he became lying in a hospital bed discussing guinea pigs with Betsey. And there's a lot I'll remember about Chris: his easy smile, the photos he liked to take of the cast, the tears in his eyes as we filmed his last scene.

message 325: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments *sigh* I think I'm going to cry again.

message 326: by Holli (new)

Holli I know!!!!

message 327: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresainohio) Just watched this and another great season finale, no hanging cliffhangers, so mundane storyline, just top notch stories and great acting.

I am so sad to see Dell go, but thinking on it, he really wasn't a major character and the next step would be off to medical school and returning to be a doctor. I don't like Sam and addison together, that is still going to be pain for Naomi. i am glad Mya and the baby will be okay, there should be some great stories there.

Holli Exclusive: Who's Getting Married in the Private Practice Premiere?

Warning: Spoilers ahead about the upcoming season of Private Practice.

Charlotte and Cooper got engaged in the Season 3 finale of Private Practice, but a different couple will be standing at the altar when the show returns.

Surprise: Violet (Amy Brenneman) and Pete (Tim Daly) will actually be the ones walking down the aisle. The show picks up several weeks after Dell's death and finds the newly reconciled lovers joining for a beautiful but last-minute wedding in a rose garden, which was filmed Tuesday at the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena, Calif.

"As far as I can tell, it's amazing sex. They have this rockin' sex and the next thing you know, Pete is saying, 'Hey, let's get married,'" Daly jokes.

Is it a little too soon? Daly notes that people often do dramatic things after tragedies.

"These characters have been through so much stuff that has been so dramatic, so once they finally broke through and set down all their weapons, they realize they actually love each other."

"I've known this dude for 12 years and we've been through so much, so I would imagine it would go very fast," adds Brenneman. "That said, it is also true that Violet has never wanted to get married, just like she never wanted to be a mother."

Violet's jitters create a Runaway Bride moment that's only encouraged by Cooper (Paul Adelstein), the Maid of Honor. "Cooper has put some doubts in her mind about this wedding because of his own insecurities about his wedding, and that's what gets worked out in the moments right after [she runs out:]," Adelstein says.

"It's funny about this because when men freak out and back out of weddings, they're these horrible pig a--holes that are just being real jerks," says Daly. "When women do it, it's kind of charming and sweet. I don't get it!"

Holli little spoiler....

Question: can you please give me some Private Practice scoop? —Vernice

Ausiello: Here’s your Private spoiler: Something tragic will happen to a major character during November sweeps. It’s probably the darkest story PP has ever tackled—and this show has tackled some dark stories. Consider yourself warned.

message 330: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments Did we really need that opening sequece with Pete & Violet? Pete with his head under the covers is a little TMI for me.

message 332: by Holli (new)

Holli I cried through this whole episode... the whole thing was sad (minus the lady that needed brain surgery... that turned out ok). I felt awful for Betsy and I really think that Violet should have kept her. I can sort of understand why she had to compromise with Pete on it but come ON. It's Dell's child.....

message 333: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I agree but I also thought they took Dell away from us *sniff sniff* which was gut-wrenching & heartbreaking *sniff* why couldn't they just let Betsy go to a nice aunt who would love her? *sniff* Why did they have to pour salt in the Dell wounds?!

I've been watching Veronica Mars reruns for the past week plus just get get a Dell-fix.

message 334: by Holli (new)

Holli I know! I agree with pouring salt in the Dell wounds!

message 335: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I was wondering what the deal was with the random drunk-annoyed patient at the hospital that Charlotte dealt with. They never showed his face when she talked to him in the hall or when he jumped her. Do you think it will not be important who he is or will he turn out to be someone she knows?

message 336: by Holli (new)

Holli That's a good question Roxy! I still have to watch last week's episode so I'll be back once I watch it....

message 337: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I understand why they didn't show the guys face in the previous episode, but I think it was pretty obvious that the guy Sheldon was interviewing was the guy who raped Charlotte.

message 338: by Rociel (new)

Rociel | 28 comments ok, so... i still dont understand that other lady, the one that was addicted to drugs... why is she important? and will adison get in trouble for the rape kit? also, where is nay?

message 339: by Holli (last edited Nov 13, 2010 07:16AM) (new)

Holli Naomi is in Switzerland doing things for William's foundation I believe but I've read online she'll be back soon. She took some time off to be with her family in real life.

I haven't finished this latest episode yet so I'll get back to you on your other questions Rociel....

message 340: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Whatever happened to Gabriel?? I really liked him and then he hasn't been there all season?

message 341: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments Question, Morgan. I was wondering that after the season opener and then completely forgot about him. Did he quit because NAomi didn't choose him?

message 342: by Holli (new)

Holli Yeah what did happen to him?!

message 343: by Holli (new)

Holli I have to say I'm in awe of Kadee Strickland. I think she's doing a phenomenal job with her portrayal of a woman who was attacked and raped. The emotions she has been having and how she is dealing with them ring so true to me that it's hard to watch. I really feel for her.

message 344: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments She is doing a great job

message 345: by Morgan (new)

Morgan I don't know! I hope he comes back!! She's doing awesome!

message 346: by Holli (new)

Holli I'm loving this show this year... the characters all have depth, they are great actors, the stories in the clinic are good.... I just enjoy it alot. I always cry, I always get mad, I'm always happy at the end..... it's just GOOD.

Grey's is boring to me. Private Practice seems much more fresh and exciting. The characters are unpredictable which makes it good. Just when you think you really know them they do something totally out of character and you see a new facet of their personality.

message 347: by Holli (new)

Holli I kinda like that Violet wrote a book... she's so cute about it too... and I was happy that Charlotte opened up some on this episode to everyone...

message 348: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I agree. My hubby came in at the middle of the episode and said "she wrote a book?" and he actually remembered what happened to her (he only watches snipets of most of my shows so I was surprised). My response was "well, it was an accident really." So I do like they way it happened for her, she kept a journal and realize after reading it could be something more.

I agree about Charlotte too. I've been wondering how they were going to progress with her since she was very into sex prior to her attach.

message 349: by Holli (new)

Holli Aren't they doing a great job with her progression too? I like that it's not hurry up and wrap it all up tv like they normally do....

message 350: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 2775 comments I agree. Even after her interest in sex was starting to come back, they did not end the episode with them having sex.
