Kris (krisrabberman) Hi, I just joined the group a few days ago. I have a PhD in medieval history, and direct academic programs and teach at the University of Pennsylvania. I read voraciously, across a lot of genres, but particularly love mysteries. I gravitate toward British mysteries (I started years ago with Sayers and Christie), and any mysteries with a lot of depth in character development. Recently I have started to read Scandinavian mysteries, and hope to add more to my to-read list. I'm looking forward to the discussions here!

Welcome Kris. If its recommendations you're looking for you've come to the right place. TBR lists explode around here.

Hello Kris and welcome. You've joined a really good group. I'm sure you'll find lots of people here with both similar and different reading interests. I also love British mysteries and I am a very big fan of Sayers in particular. I have also read quite a lot of Henning Mankell and there are plenty of other fans of Scandinavian writers in the group. One of Jo Nesbo's books was last month's group read, so you're in the right place for Scandinavian crime fiction!

We've also read 2 of the Steig Larsson books over the last year.

Thanks so much, Kim! I actually have a copy of Nesbo's The Redbreast on my bedside table atm, so I smiled when I read your message. I have Henning Mankell on my to-read list, and you are inspiring me to get started. It's really good to meet you. :)

Thanks so much for your greeting, Donna. I'm excited about the book recommendations - excellent start just in this welcome thread!

Hi Kris and welcome!

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) Hello, I have no idea what to say about myself. I'm just average - Hugh. I've yet to bump into the Stieg Larsun books but I'm dying to get the chance. I'm currently into my 3rd Jack Reacher Novel (Childs) and, I've been enjoying the "Jack Daniels" Series (Konrath) though I am looking other places for reads now.

I have dreams of writing, but no time to write, and nothing to show for it, ...yet. Good luck to all of you.

Welcome Hugh! You'll find lots of good things to read here. And if you want to try something silly, you can check out the story writing games in the "Fun and Games" folder.
