Sarah, Elsie's sister.
My mouth dropped open, but I immediately shut it for I was supposed to be sleeping. You aren't lying are you?

[T.O.L.I.]

[Riley]

I was taken aback. The person who we were looking for all along, she was here!
Hello. I thought, realizing for the first time what was going on.
I looked at her. She wasn't at all how I pictured her.
Her eyes, those were the things that I first saw on her. And they were the only feature that looked like Elsie. A forget-me-not blue, with gray on the outside.
But she had wrinkles. From the way Elsie described her, she never got wrinkles.
And her hair. Elsie's used to be auburn. Her sister had a titian blond with brown highlights and gray around the edges.
Likewise. Her thought whispered kindly in my head.
You're not at all like Elsie. Except for the eyes. I thought, realizing a moment later that it could be rude.
You aren't the only one in disguise. So tell me, why did I find you bleeding and almost freezing on the forest floor? she asked, and I plunged into my story.

I bit my lip, trying not to burst out in tears from the horror that almost left me to my death, They wanted the object. They wanted me to give it to them. No, they still want me to give it to them. She got angry, and used her knife to remind me that I had to give it to them, or else i'd die.
There was a silent pause as I waited for a reply, Who's they?
Jay and Lily.
I opened my eyes for a split second, and noticed her flinch, Jay? She asked for reassuring.
I coughed, to keep from crying, Yes.
And Lily, who is that?
I paused for a moment, thinking of exactly who she was, I'm not sure, some girlfriend of Jay's.

[Riley]

She leaned back and closed her eyes.
Jay. And Lily? And I thought I was a few steps ahead.

This wasn't the response that I had been expecting.

What do you mean? I asked hesitantly. She opened her eyes briefly.

It's a terrible story. But, I suppose, you have gotten used to these sort of stories.
It all started when me and Jay ran together. Wait, I suppose I should go back.
Yes, my Jay is the same Jay as the Jay that left you in the forest. He's changed quite a bit, as only evil can change people.
Jay and I ran away together to Vegas. We eloped, then we bought an apartment.
Jay...he beat me. It used to be just a little shove when we were fighting, but one day he punched me. Like a dog, as soon as he tasted blood he couldn't stop biting.
I didn't know what it was. This Jay wasn't the same as the Jay I knew.
And one day I overheard him on the phone. He was talking with a woman who he called Lily about an object. He said he had it. I thought I knew what he was talking about, and I was right. He had several strange devices in a safe.
So, I took them all and started giving them out to people who knocked on my door, thinking that the objects were the reason he acted so angry.
He found out what I'd done and nearly killed me. I called my father after Jay left, and he picked me up. Dad was never one to trust, Mom divorced him before she died because he stole a lot of her belongings. He brought me out here, and I was safe.
One thing, on the call I heard a lot more than just about the object. Lily was an assassin. She's been killing for years. She talked about all these people she had to get through...to...to get the object. Jay seemed afraid while he was talking to her. Like she would hurt him too if he wasn't careful.

She'll hurt me too if I don't give her the object. But, but I can't! I don't know what they're going to do with it, but I can't give it to them! It just doesn't feel right.
I paused for a moment, then thought of Cari, ignoring Sarah completely. Cari, where are you? Please, please, please answer me

[T.O.L.I.]

Tom, calm down. I know where they are. In fact, they're in the next room over.

Then how come I can't hear them?

Because it is time for you to die.

I asked, just as she sprung toward me.

I woke up in a cot. I felt terrified.

I was in cold sweat.
((Do you want me to remove those?))

I glanced down to notice that my hands and feet were bound and gagged.

[Riley]

I looked up. There was Lily, smiling at me.
"I know you have the object. How else could you have communicated with our friend?" She said, waving her pocket knife toward Sarah.
"But...but...what's going on?"
Jay looked up, tears coming into his eyes.
I'm sorry! He thought, the words echoing again and again in my head.
"Don't say that you're sorry! Now, give us the object. There's something about you that Jay likes, and that's why we haven't killed you yet. But, I wouldn't hesitate once to kill you now. Because you lied to us."
I looked down at my already cut skin. I looked back up at Lily, and shrunk under her malevolent glare.
"I don't know!" I said, realizing that she wouldn't care right after the words escaped my mouth.
Jay stood up from his cross-legged position and walked over to me. He closed his eyes and gave me a jab right in the nose. I felt it break beneath his fist and felt the blood spew.
"Where's the object?" Lily said, her voice revoltingly sweet.
"I-I don't know!" I said again. This time she walked over to me.
"Okay then." She said, grabbing my bonded hands violently and bringing the sharp knife's blade to my wrists.
I screamed in agony as she dug it into my skin. Then Jay punched me, in the eye this time.
"We'll come back later. But we won't be nearly as nice as we were this time." She said, her eyes flashing.
Sarah scooted over to me, using her bonded hands to lift herself momentarily off the ground.
You're a very brave boy. she thought.
I looked down at the hard floor. A tear dropped into the muck.
She brought her arms over her head, something that would've been impossible to do.
Contortionist. she answered to my unspoken question. She pulled a knife from her boot.
Here. she said, freeing me from my bonds. I seized the knife from her hands, and prepared to cut her wrists and ankles of bonds too.
Suddenly Jay walked through the door. He saw the broken rope on the floor first.
"God Tom! You just make it worse for yourself!" He said, resigned instead of the ice I had expected.
"Come on." He said exasperatedly.
I held Sarah's knife at the ready, expecting it to be a trap.
He opened the door. Sunlight streamed in. I looked back.
"Untie her." I said.
"I can't."
"Untie her!" I said again, holding my knife threateningly.
"Alright, alright..." he said, untying his impossible sailor's knots.
Now go. he said.
I looked back at him.
Jay?
No. Go, quick. She's coming.
I ran out the door, Sarah closely in pursuit.

(Jay's POV!))

I watched them run out, just as Lily came through the other door.
"What're you watching Jay?" She asked, innocent curiosity in her voice.
"Nothing."
I turned around, and at an instant Lily's knife was at my throat.
"You traitor." She snarled, venom leaking from every syllable.

[T.O.L.I.]

((TOM POV))

I sprinted through the snow

[Riley]

, dragging Sarah behind me.
We have to stop soon.
Wait? How come we can still hear each other's thoughts? You need to explain some things to me.
Sarah sighed. She motioned to me to sit down, and she sat down as well.
"That was all me. Everything inside my house, the story about Jay and Lily, it was all true. But, towards the end, I could feel Jay and Lily coming toward me. Lily started to control me. And that's why I attacked you." She grimaced.
"I'm sorry." She continued.
I looked at her and noticed that she did look a lot like Elsie. I just didn't notice it before in the dimly lit room.
"We need to find the others." I said after a moment of thought.
"We don't know where they are. Hell, we don't even know where we are!" She said suddenly, standing up and kicking a tree trunk.
"I know. But we have to try. I-Cari." I said.
Her expression softened.
"I know what it's like to lose someone you love. And all this is happening because of the object. We need to dispose of it."

I bit my lip, I knew we needed to dispose of it, but I didn't want to.

Then I recalled what she had said, "Is she dead?"

[T.O.L.I.]

she looked at me, a sad look on her face.

She glanced down at the snow beneath our feet, "More or less."

[T.O.L.I.]

"oh my god" I cried, falling to my knees "But wait, what do you mean? more or less?"

"She's been kidnapped also, along with Elsie, they brought them to where we were kidnapped passed out. They're either dead, or nearly dead."
I shook my head, "They can't be. They can't be!"

[T.O.L.I.]

and then I looked up at her "why did u not tell me when we were there so we could get them out too?!"

"I didn't know where they were!" She sighed, "If, no, once we know where they are, we will get them back."
I scowled at her, "They could already be dead."

[T.O.L.I.]

"Yes, that is true" I ave her a dirty look "But they still may be alive we never know!"

[Riley]

((Here I am! Sorry, my parents put a limit on Goodreads time. Plus I was playing lazer tag. Muahaha!))

I looked up at the winter sky. It was surprising to me. When Cari and Elsie came, it had just been October. October 13, as a matter of fact.
And then I realized what was going on. Cari, Elsie and Thomas, probably Jay as well, were all going to die. And it was because of the stupid government. And its annoying object.
I looked over at Sarah. She looked at me, and I uttered one word.
"Okay."

((Jay's pov))

I knew I was doomed from the mometn Lily walked in. The pain of the knife made an imprint in my mind, and it would't go away.
She'd gotten so furious, as I had expected, and bound and gagged me.
I glanced over where Cari and Elsie were, they looked so lifeless.
Lily then walked into the prison cell, her knife in hand, and the cruelest smile across her face, "Tell me why you did it Jay. I thought you were on my side."
No answer came from me, but I couldn't answer her anyways.
"I'm going to give you one last chance Jay. You will be on our side, and you will stay on our side, and then we will be free from this place. I know you want it."
I stared at Lily, examining her every move. It was either die, and not save my friends, or join her and not save my friends. I don't want to die I thought to myself.
I nodded emptily, and Lily smiled, as she drew out her knife to cut the bonds.
Once I was free, she gripped my arm tightly, "The boss did say, if you ever get near Cari or Elsie, I was to kill you. So take my advice, and do what your told from now on."
She ripped her hand off mine, and forced me into the hallway.
"Now, let's go find Tom and Sarah, shall we?"

[Riley]

I looked down at the dismal dirt streaked wooden floors as I walked through the hall with Lily.
Lily suddenly lifted my chin up, ran in front of me and squished her lips against mine.
"Be happy, Babe. We're in love, and pretty soon we'll have all the money we'd need to be together. Smile!"
I gave her a halfhearted smile.
The cold outside hit me full force. The frost crunched under my feet. Lily and I walked toward the place where we last saw Sarah and Tom disappear.

[Nathan]

[Nathan]

((police POV))

We couldnt miss them this time. We were so close. We had pulled out the full force of the united states government, and it was time too cross the line. To do things so secret the government wouldnt even know about. We had put the entire U.S. resistance pointed toward the location of the.... out laws. We had hired mercinaries from Japan, Russia and the U.K.'s secret force the MI6. But no more. It was time to get rid of them. THe Japanese man has already been terminated as also the russian. Now only the British, and the American girl we had hired two years ago. We knew where the American was- with the kids undercover. We hadn't talked to her in months and now we were about to kill her. I orderd the first phase: The american v81 "venom" choppers were too swarm in and set a perimeter point around the camp of the girl. They took off and I could see them glide over the horizon. Suddenly, A chopper started to sway. Then the rest. THe whole legion of about 124 were shaking uncontrlably. The pilots started to come over the intercom: "..its like nothing I've ever seen!.... Its amazing!...... May -day!" They screeched. Then instantaniously, they all plumited towards the planet at full speed. Seconds later, a great fireball rose into the sky. Phase one had failed. Lets see how they handle phase two.

[Riley]

((ooh! just got an idea! Maybe the person that is working undercover with them is one of the kids that died earlier in the story. And that the people that Lily and Jay are working for aren't the police, but some other organization, so Tom, Cari, and Elsie have 2 sets of people trying to kill them for the object. And maybe we could somehow get some of the dead people to come back to life . . .?))

[Riley]

((Well I think that Elsie should be in on it. And that's why she told Tom that the others had died.))

(( you are right I do think it adds a realistic element to the story Riley ( that is why I said you do not have to) and I guess everyone swears when they are under pressure))

((and cali, Jay and Lily dont work for the police. We already said that the people chasing them were not the police. They are a special detachment of the government. And thanks for the too- to thing. Can you tell me when I should and shouldn't use too??? :) )))

((I know they don't work for the police! I tried to make that as specific as possible! They're working for some other kind of organization, that's why I said, there's 2 bands of groups after Tom, Cari and Elsie.))

((The thing that Lily and Jay are on, they could think that Elsie and Cari work for the government. Oh, and Nathan, I will teach you the proper way to use 'too'!
