I actually started on several books, but since I'm so busy I haven't been able to get very far in any of them:
The Restorer: I started this because it has a really interesting story premise, although it's secular so the whole premise about ghosts might make some Christians uncomfortable. I don't personally believe in ghosts, but I enjoy a good speculative fiction story anyday--I read almost all fantasy when I was in my teens.

Lucy's Scoundrel: I love the old Harlequin Regency category books. They were clean (for the most part) and short and sweet. The story premise for this looked interesting. I might actually steal the premise and write a Regency short story just for fun.

The Book of Romance: What Solomon Says About Love, Sex, and Intimacy: I started this book because I'm reading through the entire Bible again, and the Song of Solomon always baffles me since the metaphors are SO out of my cultural zone. So I picked up this book to see if it will better explain some of the language and meanings. So far it's great, although it's more topical than actually going line by line through the scripture. At points it almost feels like he's using the verse to get his point across, but there's nothing un-Biblical about it, so it's fine.

What are you reading?

Patriciaw | 49 comments Just finished Lee Strobel's The Ambition. Christian fiction in the vein of Bonfire of the Vanities, I think. I enjoyed it.

Now I'm reading Kaye Dacus's Ransome's Quest.

And this is how pathetic I am, I didn't remember I had an ebook copy of Stand-In Groom until a couple days ago. I'm in the process of slowly cataloging all my books, and right now I'm doing my ebooks, and a couple days ago I looked in my ebook folder and lo and behold, there it was!

message 7: by Ausjenny (new)

Ausjenny | 225 comments The last tow in the Ransomes trilogry. I have the 3rd one for the CFBA tour and I need to read number 2 first.
dont have the titles on hand.

I should finish Miriams Heart tomorrow.

message 8: by Judy (new)

Judy | 181 comments I love using Fictiondb for keeping track of my books (as well as goodreads) but Fictiondb is not listing the books that are ebooks only. I like that site because I can see what books are coming out in the next months and mark them to get

I love FictionDB.com too. They usually have really accurate records of back cover blurbs, which I like to insert in my book cataloging program (I'm using Booxter). I haven't found any database that does ebooks very well, although here on Goodreads they tend to have the Kindle ISBNs and general ebook ISBNs for most books. But Goodreads doesn't always have books coming out soon.

message 20: by Regina (new)

Regina Merrick (goodreadscomrmerrick) | 8 comments I started Molly Harper's "Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs," because she lives close to me, and I want so BADLY to support a local author - but I just can't get into the vampire thing. So, I put it down - may come back to it - and now I'm reading Kaye Dacus' "Ransome's Quest." I'm VERY excited! It starts out with a PIRATE! THAT, I can get into! :D

message 21: by Amancay (new)

Amancay (amancayb) | 33 comments just finished up I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced, will start into Unplanned: The Dramatic True Story of a Former Planned Parenthood Leader's Eye-Opening Journey across the Life Line in it's wake (I like to have a biography/memoir of some sort in my mix, always!

still working on False Witness (the loan time expires today... oops! I'm going to try the turn off the wireless trick to see if I can lengthen my chances!)
in light of the movie coming out, a friend is loaning me her ACTUAL BOOK: The Help to read, before we go... not sure how well I'll do with a real book after over 18mos or die hard kindle usage... we'll see!

message 22: by Ausjenny (new)

Ausjenny | 225 comments I finished Miriams Heart by Emma Miller and now will start Ransomes crossing.

Isn't it great? As much as I love Kaye's contemporaries and historicals aren't my favorite, I LOVE the Ransome trilogy. Kaye at her best!

Wait until you get to Ransome's Quest. Stayed up very late--too late--last night to finish it. Wonderful end to the series.

That's funny, Ausjenny. I had the exact opposite feeling. For me, Ransome's Crossing was the perfect end to a wonderful series. Kaye tied up the loose ends in a such a way that I was satisfied to close the book and walk away.
