Marjorie Friday Baldwin (marjoriefbaldwin) | 76 comments Ooohhh, can I gank and use that phrase, too, Chaeya? I love that "happily never after" idea, given my Heroine kills my Hero and I keep trying to figure out how to describe that - saying Raif and Shayla have a happily never after sounds GREAT! I suppose I ought to do an actual New Release promo, too. Thought I already had though...is this the only thread here for promos? Did I duplicate it somewhere else? Don't want to annoy like a spammer ;->

Marjorie Friday Baldwin (marjoriefbaldwin) | 76 comments SCI/FI THRILLER/MYSTERY with an EROTIC ROMANCE and HAPPILY NEVER AFTER (a la Chaeya)

Conditioned Response (Phoenician, #2) by Marjorie F. Baldwin
In the far future on an alien world, this fast-paced, Classic SciFi Dystopia weaves a mystery-style plot with a sexy RomanticSF thread. Artificial Breeding Selections and an unforgiving caste system are an invitation for political corruption to poison the gene pool. It's up to a Proctor named Raif and a Phoenician named Shayla to save the human genome from sabotage. Talk about a brain child!

-@-

Shayla didn't ask to be a Councillor. She's Phoenician. There's no good reason for Phoenicians to live among the humans. None, except that the Seven Chiefs had ordered her to do it. They'd entrusted her safety to a human Proctor named Raif. They'd said it was all part of the Plan. Well, the Seven Chiefs could keep their Plan. Shayla had plans of her own now and they didn't include the Seven Chiefs or the World Council.

Raif had never intended for things to go this far. A few months, maybe a year, and he could send the little Phoenician girl home again, back where she belonged. After more than a decade, she was not a little girl anymore and he couldn't bring himself to let her go. He had no idea why he'd never seen her like this before but now she was all he could think about. A Proctor shouldn't think, certainly not about his Councillor that way.

As Raif finds himself in competition with his own progenitor for control over his Heir (and future) Shayla discovers Raif's past. He was never meant to be a Proctor. Is this what the Seven Chiefs had intended from the start?

-@-

Baldwin hooks you into her world and pulls you along with her characters. You'll think about this book even when you're not reading it. You'll wonder if that was the Plan all along. The only bad thing to say about this book is that it ends, but it's a series book so at least the story will continue--or will it?

(This book contains strong language, explicit sexual situations and some graphic violence; therefore, it may not be suitable for all audiences.)

Chaeya | 31 comments You're so cute, Marjorie, thanks for giving me kudos, but I'm sure someone will pop up and swear they used the term before me. It's a big wide world out there. Congratulations and good luck on your new release!

May I just say that the cover of a naked man got me to click and the description sounds absolutely hilarious? Has anyone here read this? Is it, in fact, written tongue-in-cheek (amongst other places one puts a tongue, I guess...apparently *LOL*)

It sounds potentially fun. I'd love to hear anyone's reactions who's read it. Gonna shelve it just for the occasional glance at a naked man thumbnail (haha) I'm bad, I know! There are ways to Adjust someone's thinking--but I don't know anyone qualified to do an Adjustment on me so ....I'm just baaaad.

Marjorie Friday Baldwin (marjoriefbaldwin) | 76 comments I already posted about my book releasing in the end of April but I'm here to update the news (and updated the blurbage) because today--and today ONLY--it's FREE at Smashwords.

Starting today, July 1st, Smashwords is having a site-wide blowout sale where Authors and Publishers can enter our books to be discounted at one of 4 rates (25%, 50%, 75% or 100%/FREE).

My sexy SciFi Thriller, Conditioned Response, is going FREE for one day then I'm removing it (then re-entering it in a few days for the 50% discount). Get your free copy of Conditioned Response today and shelve it here to read when you have time:

Conditioned Response (Phoenician, #2) by Marjorie F. Baldwin

It's a long book but after the first few chapters, it seems to fly for just about every reader (so far anyway)

Warning: there is sex, adult content and situations, violence and some language may not be suitable for readers of all ages or temperments. But it is one heck of a fun ride! *haha*
