Mysti Parker | 216 comments This morning, I did a presentation at the local rotary club on how to write/publish a book. I was TERRIFIED I would run away screaming or hide under the table. However, I did a power point presentation and once I got rolling, I felt much better. I turned to the big screen too much, but otherwise, everyone was very interested. They said I had more questions at the end than any other speaker they've had in about 2 years :)

I'm starting to feel like a real author now! Just wanted to share. ~Mysti

C.S. Splitter | 979 comments Ah, very cool! Did they contact you or did you contact them?

I do public speaking, usually small groups, on a regular basis for work. I still get nervous most times, but it DOES get easier.

Hopefully you'll also get some sales out of it :)

Mysti Parker | 216 comments Our real estate agent who sold us our house in November is a member and when I told her I had published a book, she asked if I could speak at their monthly meeting.

One of the officers contacted me after that and set me up.

Mysti Parker | 216 comments I'm a natural recluse, so it's not in my nature at all. I think it's good for me though. Being with other adults is nice too when you're a full time mom.

Anagha Uppal I know how you feel. Congrats for the achievement! Very cool

Belinda Buchanan | 42 comments Congratulations Mysti! That's awesome. And I totally relate to being able to talk with adults. It's nice to have a grown up conversation once in a while. I am secretly counting down the days when my two boys go back to school!

Dale Ibitz (goodreadscomdale_ibitz) | 298 comments Congrats to all you speakers! No book speaking engagements, but I do a LOT of talking for my job. Blech! I'm a natural recluse myself...always telling my boss I want to be a hermit when I grow up...but it gets easier the more you do it.
