Silvia (silverware) | 436 comments What giving up coffee? Sounds imposible to me :P The good thing with soda is I have the bubbles in carbonated drinks so I don't like it at all! YUCK!

message 9: by Katerina (new)

Katerina | 252 comments I hate coffee. Everyone said once I got in college I'd love it. I don't..never will. I like tea though. Anyone else?

message 10: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I don't drink coffee. I don't like the taste of it. I drink Peet's Hot Chocolate to get my caffiene.

message 11: by Kelsey (last edited Oct 05, 2008 12:28PM) (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) I used to hate coffee too, but then I realized that it's not so bad with loads and loads of sugar. So that's the only way I can drink it. No black coffee for me. There's a pumpkin latte at Starbucks for October, and it is amazing.

message 12: by Katerina (new)

Katerina | 252 comments mmm i love hot chocolate. never tried Peet's.

message 13: by Kelsey (new)

I freakin LOVE the pumpkin spice latte!! I wait for this time every year so that i can get one!!

message 16: by Janet (new)

Janet I really don't like coffee at all. I have also heard the Starbucks doesn't make good coffee. I like their other stuff though, like their frappaccionos (sp?) But I am not a coffee drinker but I love tea and hot chocolate!

message 17: by Silvia (new)

Silvia (silverware) | 436 comments YUMMM! I love the pumpkin spice latte too!!! But we only have it offered here in October :( I also love the orange moch and double expresso on ice! AAA Who am I kidding? I love it all!

i freakin love starbucks. seriously. i love pretty much everything there. minus the prices. as far as non coffee drinks there..i love their passion iced tea. I do like Dunkin Donuts coffee too..their iced lattes are decent. If I'm going for cheap coffee yet tastes good..I go to Wawa. it's not bad there.

message 19: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 143 comments I absolutely love starbucks too jamie..and the passion iced teas are their best kept secret i think. they are pretty cheap for a big one.

message 20: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey (kelseynicole) hey..7-11 has great pumpkin spice coffee..lol im so cheap at times!! =)

message 21: by Spencer (new)

Spencer (spencerafreeman) I swear Jamie, everytime you say you like something I feel like a copycat because I always reply "me too!" lol. I love starbucks passion iced teas. They are so good, and sometimes if I want to switch it up I get a passion tea lemonade which is equally as good !

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

when i say go i mean go the restroom

message 23: by Bree (new)

Bree (breezybaby) | 144 comments I love Starbuck's coffee..I always get the skinny vanilla latte or the iced chai!

message 24: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) You guys are all going to hate me. But I hate Starbucks with a very large passion. I used to work at a locally owned coffee shop for a year and a half and I can't even drink Starbucks shots after learning how to make my own. Starbucks are so burnt! YUCK! But when I do get coffee I'm all about the Iced Caramel Americanos.

message 25: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie I really can't stand coffee or any hot drinks (tea, hot chocolate, etc)... now, coke, on the other hand, I am addicted to!

message 26: by Allison (new)

Allison mmm...this is making me want starbucks.
i must have my coffee every morning.
i drink so much of it, that i usually just brew my own.
add a little milk and sugar and it's delicious.
but, when it's cold i'm up for any hot drink- tea, hot chocolate, or apple cider.
the caramel apple cider was my favorite starbucks drink, but they changed it do caramel apple spice and it just doesn't taste as good, so i learned to make it at home!

message 27: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) OMG! Crazy story about Starbucks (this is yet another reason why I don't like Starbucks)! I went there to get some apple cider but their caramel apple cider is WAY too sweet for me so they were like okay one caramel apple cider. I was like "No, just an apple cider please." and when I got up to the window to get it they gave me one of their hot cups. I drove off and took a sip, they gave me COLD apple juice! They should have just said that they didn't have normal apple cider and I would have gone somewhere else rather than spending 4 dollars for apple juice.

message 28: by Bree (new)

Bree (breezybaby) | 144 comments thats horrible caiti! sometimes they do suck. haha i love it though.

message 29: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments I'm going to Starbucks in the morning with a friend and I'm really looking forward to a vanilla latte...and some type of breakfast pastry.

message 30: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I didn't even know we had this thread! How amazing! I love coffee. I drink the Dunkin Donuts medium roast original blend every morning. And I go to Starbucks way more often than I really ought to. In the cold months, I get a black and white mocha and in the hot months I get a JavaChip (which has been "my drink" since I was 16). Lately I've been getting into Starbucks's iced teas.

message 31: by Jess (new)

Jess I didn't know we had this thread either!

Actually, I go to Starbucks a lot; my school has one on campus (the only 'brand' we have), and I learned recently that it's the highest grossing Starbucks in New York state! (Yikes!) But meal plans can be used there (not 'meals,' but the dollars—which I started out with $800 each semester, and that's the lowest amount you can have for living on campus), which is convenient. I'm a coffee addict, so I'm always at Starbucks grabbing iced coffee. In the winter, I usually drink hazelnut soy lattes. I can't drink anything with regular milk in it, so all those blended drinks don't work for me (plus I don't like things that are too sweet...weird, I know).

Iced tea has been my craving lately, but I like the cold-brewed, unsweetened kind (like at Panera or cafes).

message 32: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (kellieag) I drink SO much coffee...usually a nonfat caramel or peppermint latte from Starbucks, or I brew my own at home. I also love the passion tea lemonade!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
I used to drink alot more coffee while I was in college but now I don't as much. Still love Starbucks and when I went to DC we tried some Caribou Coffee. Was pretty good!

message 34: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I never drank coffee until about 2 years ago when I started getting into Dunkin Donuts french vanilla ice coffee. Since then I've started to branch out a lot more at DD and Starbucks. I kind of wish I didn't pick up the habit because sometimes it really messes with me (I tend to get really shaky from it) and I don't feel as healthy when I drink it. It would have been helpful during college though, I think I was one of the only students on campus who didn't drink it.

message 35: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie | 58 comments My usual is a vanilla latte. I prefer whole milk with it, actually. It's a fuller flavor.

Abigail (42stitches) | 53 comments Mmm...coffee. I'll drink coffee from pretty much anywhere. I mix it up a lot, don't always get the same thing. But my favorite is an orange mocha when it's cold out. And in the summer I drink coffee soda.

message 37: by Kallie (new)

Kallie | 42 comments I drink way too much coffee for my own good! I absolutely love it. It's getting to be quite the expensive habit, but I'm thinking that this summer I'm going to just brew a bunch of coffee at home and put it in a water pitcher and have my own iced coffee anytime i want! I'm excited just thinking about that!

message 38: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments Abigail- I've never heard of coffee soda! I've had coffee ice cream, but never coffee soda.

I go to Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts the most for coffee. But I probably go to Dunkin Donuts a lot more (I pass three on the way to work!). At Starbucks I like the lattes, frappuccinos and green tea lemonade.

In the summer I drink tons of iced coffee and iced tea. I love making sun tea.

I love locally owned coffee shops the best though. They usually have the best coffee and bagels.

Abigail (42stitches) | 53 comments First time I ever had a coffee soda was in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It sounded vile, but my friend and I were too curious, so we tried it and fell in love. No one else has ever heard of it, but I teach the baristas everywhere I have lived, since then.

Basically it is a french soda with a shot of espresso added. You have to mix the flavor in with the espresso first (like with any other latte) and then you ice it to chill it a bit. You fill half the rest of the cup with soda, let it simmer down and then fill the rest with milk (half in half is better though). If you put the soda in last, it explodes. They are soo delicious.

My favorite is amaretto. Tried a chocolate mint for the first time today, and that was really good, too.

message 40: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (kellieag) Drinking my fave home brewed coffee right now...New England coffee with vanilla creamer :)

message 41: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) I love coffee! So glad this thread is here. Coffee is probably the sole reason that I've gotten through college thus far. I also drink a lot of tea, but that's more for when I want to relax. Coffee is what gets me going!

Amen!

message 43: by Sara (new)

Sara I love coffee, I occasionally grab one before school but I always have one on saturday morning. Either Tim Horton's or made by my boyfriend :). I love having a cup of coffee and reading a good book :)

I love the smell of coffee but can't stand the taste.

So I am an oddball too Kelly! :)

message 46: by Anna (new)

Anna Shumaker (annashu) I'm with Tami, I know there are most likely some fantastic blends ect. but they all taste like coffee.

message 47: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I don't drink coffee, but I love the smell! We have a Starbucks on campus, on cold days I'll get hot chocolate or apple cider. The office I work in always smells like coffee, so many of my coworkers drink it that there is always some brewing in the break room.

message 48: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Black coffee is definitely an acquired taste. I started drinking the blended drinks (cappuccinos, lattes, etc) when I was 12 or 13. But I didn't drink black coffee until I was 21 and decided that I was going to start drinking it. Now I can't start my morning without it.

I'd really like to find a good chicory blend. But the only place I've seen it is Target and my mom wouldn't buy it because I already have a lot of Dunkin' Donuts ground coffee.

Abigail (42stitches) | 53 comments Oh...chocry coffee is great. Asian markets usually carry this stuff: http://shop.cafedumonde.com/coffee.html I've had the yellow one. It is so amazing. It's really strong though.

One time that was the only coffee I had in the house, had about half a can left. I came home from work at 4 am and found my husband had a friend over. He had made coffee for the guy, but it was gone. I went to make another pot and it was down to a quater. He had FILLED the filter with my chicory coffee and our friend (who loves coffee as much as me had drank it all). The poor guy was literally shaking. I was like, "Umm, it's a table spoon per 2 cups; not a quarter of a can!!"

Turns out my husband hadn't made drip coffee in years (I'm the at home coffee drinker in our house) and he bought it was 2 table spoons PER CUP. While that may be the case with some weaker/less bold blend coffees, mkost people (at least that I know) only use 1 table spoon per cup, or even less. Depending on the blend: I use one tablespoon per one or two cups.

Here's a question: How strong do you make your coffee?

message 50: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I usually use a slightly heaping 1/8 cup measuring scoop per 16 oz of water. I've had the chicory taste in a powdered Cafe au Lait coffee drink I used to make. I want to say that Target has Community Center (or something like that) Chicory blend. But I'm pretty sure it's not ground and I don't think I have a coffee grinder.
