What Do You Do When Not Reading?

No thanks :P"
I probably should have specified on what kind of marathons. Movie marathons is what I meant to say. Although some of my friends have tried to convince me to train for a marathon, but I'm not much of a runner.

Oh well those are perfectly acceptable then.

How, that I'm thinking about it, it really beats the treadmill.

I also journal a lot and keep a dream journal. And I love games, been playing a game called Anarchy Online more years then I like to think about.
I used to take a lot of photos but more or less stopped when someone told me they were all 'empty and shallow, devoid of any interest'
Oh I love to cook too, and make pretty and sweet little cakes.
Learning yoga too.

I took the new GRE in October. I spent the previous 3 months studying my ass off but I rocked it. What do you want to study in grad school?

Disregard the hater! Keep taking photos if it enriches you.

Aside from reading and movies, I just completed grad school last May so I am trying to catch up on my bookshelf- my other other main hobby is my dog. I feel like I'm away so often that when I have time off I like to take her out to go for hikes or walks or to dog parks.
My grandmother just recently taught me how to knit, but I have yet to finish my first scarf.. Maybe I'll complete it by next winter!
My bucket list includes running a marathon- ideally I'd love to run the NYC marathon in November but it just feels like such a lofty goal, one day....
Kim, welcome to the US! While living in Seattle one thing you must do (especially with your love of photography) is take a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway- along the way stop in Napa/Sonoma for some wine, in between Napa and San Francisco you'll be in Big Sur for some great hiking and you'll also come along this beautiful restaurant called Nepenthe that you will have to plan to go to for dinner at sunset- the view is amazing- and the food isn't so bad either! It's situated right along the PCH kind of in the middle of nowhere but worth the trip, and then go to Muir woods and see the Redwoods which are impressive.
Starbucks is on every corner in NYC too. I keep petitioning them to have walk up windows in the city because on cold mornings on my way to Central Park with the dog it would be nice to have something warm to sip on but dogs aren't allowed inside.
Last weekend I went to see Mark Twain's house which was absolutely beautiful and as fate would have it- I ended up there again last night for a fundraiser! He happened to live next to Harriet Beecher Stowe so I plan on going back up there again to tour her house next.

I got in a bit of an accident in late April and haven't been allowed to go back to work quite yet, but perhaps before the end of the summer. I'd hate to be holed up during the rare beautiful sun breaks here! The plus side is, now I have gotten to read many books I've been meaning to get around to for years. :)

Kayce, what is upcycling?
Kim, love your photos!
September - June I am teaching, grading, and creating activites/plans to keep my angels focused. During those glorious summer months I travel, garden, nap, lunch with the girls, and sit in my beach chair gazing at the ocean.
I also belong to a service organization that advocates for the victims of trafficking and domestic violence.
I have a great life.

I've enjoyed reading what you all get up to when you're not reading! I for one, when I'm not working, spend my time studying for my MA in Translation, or learning to belly dance! I am a member of the Desert Jewels dance troupe from Derby :) I love dancing just as much as reading!

During the past nine years, I have been able to cross-off all but one - visiting all 50 states by car (43 down, 7 to go); however, upon giving it some serious thought, I have decided to fly to Hawaii, instead of attempting to drive.
When not on a road trip, I keep in close contact with my four adult children and four grandchildren. Between that and enjoying a fairly active social life, I am kept quite busy.
Reading is, of course, my first love. In addition to that all-consuming hobby, I am an avid journaler, bird-watcher, horse-back rider, sketcher, singer, gardener, farmer, and hiker.

Hi Kier! I have been trying to learn to knit. Do you have any recommended books, websites, or YouTube videos that might help me? I can't seem to get the hang of it. Any tips are much appreciated!

No thanks :P
