Oh the irony :P

message 102: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Indeed, Kim. It makes me chuckle weakly every time, and then I recall that these are the people meant to be helping the rest of humans and I sober up again.

message 103: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments Indeed. That´s a scary thought.

What do you mean by the wordl´s best bookstore, Kim?

message 104: by Kim (new)

Kim Powell's Books in Portland. The headquarter store is the world's largest independent bookshop. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powell%27s

It is huge

I´ll keep that in mind when I visit America, but that´ll take a while.

You crochet a cat?

message 108: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments Yeah, after I had finished two crochet pigs. There was this book where a woman crotcheted pigs and it was funny, in a way. My grandmother taught me when I was little and so I thought: Why not?
My sister found the first piggy so cute that she wanted to have one too. Ergo, I crotcheted a second pig. She´ll get it for her birthday in Februarsy, because it´s much more work than you´d think.
Then I wanted to try something different than pigs and found those awsome cat-eye buttons.
That´s why I crotchet a cat.

It´s fun, really. While doing this I´m watching movies I´ve already seen. this way I´m not wasting my time. ;)
Only problem: What the hell do you do with a crotchet-cat?!

Gift for a younger cousin maybe?

Good luck with your move Kim. What's prompted such a big one?

My fiancee can't stay in Australia any longer due to the way the visa laws are here so we decided to try and have a go of it back at her home.

message 111: by Karen (new)

Karen | 17 comments I love coffee, but not Starbucks. I also love reading and, when not reading, I love gardening, quilting, and crocheting. I lived in Denmark for eight years, so I do speak Danish, but not German. Sorry.

message 112: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments What makes you all crochet / knit over embroider? I just made these (they're only about 3" x 6") for some friends: http://imgur.com/RL3Vr

message 113: by Marlene (last edited Jan 23, 2012 07:37AM) (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments They look wonderful! I never was much for stitching. My grandma taught me, but I love crotcheting more. I can also knit, but I still like crotcheting more. Maybe because you can crotchet cats? ;)

I´m happy I´m not alone though. There are not many people doing stuff like that in my area besides my grandma and some friends! MY friends think I´m crazy. And they´re probably right. How many teenagers knitting, crotcheting, doin needlepoint and stitching do you know?

message 114: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Same here, Marlene xD They all think it's insane to still make things like this! And yet, it's so fun...

message 115: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments FINALLY someone who understands me! :D

message 116: by Melki (new)

Melki | 205 comments Too bad you two live so far away. We could be exchanging patterns...

message 117: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments We could exchange anyway...I have a scanner! :D

message 118: by Melki (new)

Melki | 205 comments If you're talking about cross stitch, I have tons of patterns I've already stitched -- I will never make them again, what am I gonna do with them?

I'm pretty sure I also have patterns for crocheted pigs and cats.

message 119: by Marlene (last edited Jan 23, 2012 08:21AM) (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments Would be interesting. I don´t have ay patterns; I just make them without knowing how exactly.
I love cross stitching! And I´m a few patterns short.
I don´t know if I could put any up, because I can´t even post links, even less pictures. If you succeed in explaining this to me, I´ll bow to you and post a picture of it too. ;)

And I´ve already mad my experience with me and friends living too far away from each other. I´m used to it by now. :/

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Woah woah woah... this take private messages!

message 121: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments Right you are. ;)
Anyway, crotcheting is fun! And I have a birthdaypresent for my sister. xD

message 122: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Yeah... I don't have a bday pressie for my sister. 10 days to find something? xD Hey, how about a good book!?

message 123: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments that´s always something! What genres does your sister like? Maybe we can give you some tips! :)

For my sister it´s a month from today. But it´s a busy month, so I´m glad I already have something.

message 124: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Well, I give her new books all year round... giving one now as a present would seem kinda miserly. Plus, I like giving special individual 'made for you by me' pressies!

message 125: by Marlene (last edited Jan 23, 2012 08:48AM) (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments Crocheting something? ;)

message 126: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments All my crocheting tools are back with my parents still. Same with knitting needles. Only have sewing stuff here... and calligraphy stuff! Hmm....

message 127: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments maybe drwaing something and doing calligraphy? Or ordering crocheting-stuff via internet. That shouldn´t take more than four days and you´d have six left to actually do something.

message 128: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments I like how you're one of those "solution thinking" type people. No focusing on obstacles and "shit, you'll never make it!!!" /me likey

message 129: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments Always look at the positive side; there´s one in EVERYTHING. Make that an almost, but there is always a solution to "normal" problems.

message 130: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Yup! And when I get stuck on something, if I just explain it to about 10 different people, it's usually 10 different solutions that come up too!

message 132: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments Well, more things to choose from! *thinkining positive!*

message 133: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Hahaha, MountainShelby, I'm trying to help Marlene out with that right now. It's making my geeky girl giggle lots.

message 134: by MountainAshleah (new)

MountainAshleah (mountainshelby) I attempted to crochet. Once. I can't keep track of the stitches . . .

message 135: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments Haha... -.-
And I´m absolutely hopeless. *okay, think positive, THINK POSITIVE!*

message 136: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments I´m not taling track of the stitches either. I just crochet until it looks halfway decent and then go on. It worked so far.

message 137: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments The first and last thing I've ever crochet'd was a bikini for my barbie back when I was like 7... hated that doll, btw. I'll have my mom reteach me when I go home this summer, I think. In the meantime, knitting hats, scarves, sweaters and so keeps me warm and it's fun!

message 138: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments I only ever knitted a scarf. It never got finished. You can do so much more with crocheting! It doesn´t unravel as fast, if you ask me, and you can do animals! (love animals!)
my grandmother crochets curtains and table clothes. She´s amazing and I´m not nearly as good as she!

message 139: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Yeah, my mom is helping my little sister create an 'arts magazine'... she just needs some things to photograph in order to make the magazine as a project for her art college. So my mom crochet'd these cute mushrooms and some little animals and lots of other cute little things! I almost snuck them all back here in my suitcase... almost. Hate getting caught.

message 140: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments xD I would have liked to see that.
Just let your mother give you the patterns and crochet them too!
Oh, great idea! I´ll try to crochet them too! My animals always get so big! They´re as big as a plate, and even fatter.

message 141: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Well, that makes for lots of snuggly time in bed after you're done with them!

message 142: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments Yeah, I can see that. All this furry, pig-snout-like cuddly toys in my bed a me in the middle, reading a book of course.
xD
Love that pic!

message 143: by Kim (new)

Kim Argh so much crocheting :P

message 147: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahblazado) | 1 comments i watch anime, movie and tv series marathon, playing computer games, cleaning the house, tinkering the appliances.:P

message 148: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) | 289 comments I often make anime and movie marathons with a friends!
But cleaning the house... not so much. And if I would even touch anything technical, the house would probably blow up. ;)

message 149: by ♥Xeni♥ (new)

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 220 comments Sarah, wanna come and clean my apartment for me!? My excuse during school times is I have to study. Now it's vacation and I have no excuse... cept maybe that I'm busy recovering from studying!

message 150: by Celeste (new)

Celeste (chete) | 7 comments I personally enjoy music. I sing and I play various instruments. Depending on my mood I draw. I do enjoy movies, moving watching is a definite must in my house. Marathons happen quite often, and I do say that they are super fun.
