Sarah (swilliamsh) | 1 comments I thought you guys might want to read this. It's only 8 pages long and there's a nice twist. Also, it's written by Stephen Fry. Need I say more?

Joanna (foxwrapped) | 353 comments OoooOo thank you for posting that. I haven't heard of it before! I'm reading it now....

and that was awesome! It was sweetly funny. You can tell he knows the characters really well and genuinely loves them. I love how he couldn't resist making an "watson ejaculated" joke. Stephen Fry is a sherlock nerd, ha! Now I am even more excited for his Mycroft which I didn't even think was possible.

I have to take a few points from Mr. Fry for not looking things up. In my copy of the "Missing Manuscript" the introduction lists the author's middle names as John Huffham. So not really sure what reference Fry used. Also the book in the story would have been in print since 1843; if we assume the year 1854 for Holmes birth. How could he have found an unpublished novel as an adult that was in print before he was born?

If you have read the sory hopefully you followed that and if you haven't hopefully I havn't spoiled it to badly.

I know am the world biggest kill joy but I think that Holmes would approve of my unmasking what is clearly a false narritave trying to pass as one of Watson's unpublished adventures. But as we know these are all safely locked away in an old tin army box.

If you live in the real world I should point out that the real version of Fry's "Authorial client" died many years before the first Holmes story even poped into Doyles head.
