Amazon deleting reviews?

Wow! I have no idea and what a bummer!! is there a way to contact Amazon and ask them what happened?
Yours is still on mine in the US but it may be that you give your URL - they do go round deleting that if it's in the body of the text. If you take that out and just make it your website link on your profile, that one might escape it!Might be worth emailing support desk though to ask the question. Allegedly they're useful though I've never had dealings with them myself.

Yeah, I lost a review off my book on Amazon somehow. I never even considered that Amazon was doing it. It is probably for URL's although it look like they "edited" another review that had a URL in it rather than deleting.Probably not the case here, but Amazon will delete reviews if they get enough "dislikes". They will also delete for content but, again, that probably is not the case here.

Ah, I forgot I had the URL in them - that might be the case. I'll just have to repost them without the URL, and see if they leave them alone this time!As far as I'm aware, none of them had any dislikes. One had a like, and that was it!
Thanks for the help! :)

I just checked the Amazon reviews on my book. There actually isn't an "edited" version of the review that had the URL, it's just gone.Since I remember an edited version where they replaced the URL with "...", I guess Amazon is doing both (editing and deleting).

Now that doesn't seem right to me that Amazon can go in and edit the things we are posting...I don't like that idea at all...
I THINK that's why they just delete, Amy. More people would be angry about getting edited than getting deleted. Plus....deleting is easier.I have had several comments deleted on Amazon, but that was always when the original review was deleted for content or the number of "dislikes".
I DO think Amazon tries to keep the ratings high on "popular" books, but I have zero to back it up. Just anecdotal evidence where I have seen negative revues deleted for spurious reasons and positive ones left intact even though they violated TOS or common standards (like reviewers having a financial interest in the book being reviewed).
I LOVE Amazon, but they aren't perfect.

This makes me want to go check mine. They have edited URL's out of them before, but I haven't noticed them deleting. I actually would be more ticked if they deleted than edited. I get they don't want to affiliate with any other sites or particular brands... Sheesh...
None of the reviews on ODS have been deleted that I know about, and I'm fairly sure I'd notice. I have heard people saying that troll-reviews do get deleted if you complain to Amazon and they think you have a point but I've also seen reviews where the URL was replaced by [...]I know they're cracking down on authors linking to their books in forum posts - maybe they're cracking down on URLs too? They do delete them out of the forum posts when they notice, definitely.

Amazon does not like links to other sites/blogs but they typically do not make it through the filter and usually just don't get posted. I have had many a review go "poof", never to be seen again, but I am sometimes inappropriate in my word choices which is why I much prefer the freedom of GoodReads ;)

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know any reasons they would do this? My reviews are not inappropriate in any way, as far as I know!
Thanks,
Shaunna
