I just couldn't finish reading the Iron Wyrm Affair. I tried, oh how I tried. I can't put my finger on it precisely, but that book just didn't do anything for me.

I read that one a while ago and loved it. Like you said it was different, a good thing. The next book came out today, I'm looking forward to it.

I ended up doing a lot of skimming by the last third of the book. The book didn't work for me either.
I just finished

yea I was so disappointed with it, I really like Lilth's Kismet series, but this one just wasn't as good, and I don't think it had anything to do with the characters.... just sometimes it was really confusing the way she wrote things and other times she made up names for certain things but didn't tell you what it meant and u goy had to kind of guess.... know what I mean?

im hoping the next book will be better..... *fingers crossed*

I have

and

The Kingdom is a good book (one of my favourites) and Khristine Hvam is a good narrator.
I loved Anne Bishop´s Black Jewels (not audio, though), and I sweared I´ll not read Jim Butcher´s novels in this life

I have

Isn't Daughter of Smoke and Bone wonderful Julia? Knowing your tastes I am fairy sure you'll like it as well as the sequel Days of Blood & Starlight but we'll have to wait until next year I believe for the third bookDreams of Gods & Monsters

I am just curious as to why you swore not to read Jim Butcher ?as he is immensely popular in this group?
I myself have only read the first 3 Dresden books, and am in no hurry to read the next. I find the violence very intense, and also get tired of all the fighting particularly the 3rd one.I felt bad after reading them. I do like the Harry Dresden character, so will probably read on sometime.

I loved DoS&B while it was in Prague and Marrakesh. When it moved to Eretz, in the last hundred pages I had problems with it, and I'm not rushing to get #2...

I've read the first two of that series. While I enjoyed the basic story, the main character never really acted the way I would expect a trained assassin to act. She kept telling me she was trained from a young age to be an assassin, but she never really showed me. She just wasn't as ruthless and on her game as I thought she'd be.
As assassins go, Gin Blanco from Elemental Assassin is much more believable in the role.

I'm currently reading book three in The Noble Dead series,

and

Loved both. Trying to decide what to read next while I wait for the next Elemental Assassin and Alex Versus books to come out in a couple of weeks :)

Are you ready for not so usual answer? (:
"he is immensely popular in this group?" is the answer. I stay away from popular writers as much as I can. I chose less popular (or new) author over the popular one every time.
The only exceptions (in my case) are Kate Morton, Karen Marie Moning (as long as she´s writing Fever) and Neil Gaiman.

I have to wait until February for Broken Homes. I still have to read book 3 but I think I'll save it for the fall.

also finished

And finally I'm enjoying some time in the obnoxious, snarky gutter with Sandman Slim.

now reading
