Mark wrote: "would like to hear what you think of moon over soho?..."Just started it. :) We get to meet Peter's family in this one, I think, so I'm looking forward to it. The first part has my attention, so yay!
As it happens I'm reading two books right now that would fit into the urban-fantasy genre (it's not the only genre I read), Gil's All Fright Diner and The Greatest Show Off Earth. Martinez is fantastic and I have yet to read a disappointing work from him. Rankin is more uneven, sometimes good, sometimes excellent and sometimes just plain confusing as with this book.
Finished Reading
not gonna read
cause i wanna finsh Dark Swan first AND cus it has 15 parts(gonna read later)Currently Reading-
I just finished the October Daye series by Seanan Mcguire, and Alex Versus series by Benedict Jacka really liked them. I am getting ready to start the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep.
After being pressured... ahem, I mean encouraged to check out
, I read the first three episodes last night. It's good! Definitely different. The first episode was a little confusing, but I settled in after that one, and I'm enjoying it. I love anything related to fairy tales, so this is an excellent choice for me. Thanks to Kindle-aholic, Susan, and Dawn for the recommendation!
I'm reading
, and so far am *very* disappointed. :(
I don't mind the story or the mc, but I so wanted a steampunk read, and while this is marketed as a steampunk, it certainly isn't. What bothers me is that (a) it's impossible to tell what time period I'm reading about - not Victorian, that's for sure and (b) all modern devices are called odd names (cell phones = rotaries) to give it a faux steampunk feel.
Really wish the author had skipped the steampunk and gone for a different alternate world.

*Love* that series! The next one is even better than the first. :D Can't wait for the movie, either.

Read
- first, love the Buddy Reads, second - it's a middle book, pace was slow, then too quick at the end. Love the world though, and the characters are interesting. Will read more.Still reading
- Peter on his own is being an idiot. He needs Leslie. I think this is part of the point of the story.

Now Peter, let's remember the state of the last dead body you saw. Start thinking with your brain.

But don't you think that is part of his appeal, the doofy side of him.

That is probably why I liked it because normally I am not a fan of steampunk but this I liked...never thought about that before!

I enjoyed this one. It does pick up as the book progresses.

Yes, I love his doofy side. However, he is not just being doofy in this one. He needs someone (Leslie filled this role in bk 1) to balance him big time.

From what I've seen, this is either a book you really like or one you can't finish. Doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground.
I really liked it.:)

It is picking up yes, I having problems with the Clare character not getting him at all.
Finished
and that was really good but it has been so long since I read the last one I feel like I forgot some important points. Also finished
which has great potential but it was not for me.I started
only to realize I did not read
. Now reading
I'm reading
and Kitty is always fun.I just started
in audio and I absolutely love what I've heard so far, even though it's rather bizarre so far.
Finished
- the last few sentences made me want to rush out and get book 3. Giddily happy. I do like that Peter is learning. I'm fine with characters who act like idiots, so long as they learn from it.Trying to be good though, and finish some other books on my shelf first. Tonight I'll try
,
,
and see which one sparks my interest the most.

Started reading Once Bitten, Twice Shy by Jennifer Rardin. So far, I am enjoying it. It feels like it will be a quick read and will most likely go on to the next book in series.
I was disappointed with both
and
so I probably won't be continuing with either series. I just finished
and
and quite enjoyed them. The third book,
, is out next week and I'm looking forward to that.I've been wanting to start the first Peter Grant book so hopefully I can work that in soon. I like the UK cover (and title) better though.
I've been really busy in the last few days and I've finished these books since Monday:
,
,
,
,
,
I'm reading
now.

I was surprised that I enjoyed them as much as I did because westerns typically aren't my thing but the mix of supernatural, western, and steampunk elements worked surprisingly well IMO. I haven't read her Allie Beckstrom series yet though I keep meaning too. It's just looking at a nine book series that keeps me putting it off.
One thing I can say about The Iron Wyrm Affair is that it sure had pretty people on the cover, lol.
I just finished The elemental assassin series by Jennifer Estep I really enjoyed them. Getting ready to start reading the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter.
read
while I was on a work road trip - just got home last night actually. it was the only book I got the chance to read, now im thinking of reading either
or
I finished
and I didn't really care for it. The characters seemed flat to me and the storyline was just ok. The only part of the story that I found interesting was the telling of the Uprising. I doubt I'll continue with it.

That being said, I am not a teen, rather a mom of a teen, so I am not really criticizing, just saying some things about youth I just don't need to re-live.
