Ah, this is one of my favorite series. I just finished On Basilisk Station (Honor Harrington, #1) by David Weber and liked it enough that I'll move on book two. In the meantime, I've started Cordelia's Honor (Vorkosigan Omnibus, #1) by Lois McMaster Bujold .

Now I'm reading The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater , hopefully I'll like it more.

message 1716: by Karin (new)

Karin I'm currently reading J.R. Ward's: Redemption... Slow read, definitely not one of her best works and I can't wait for it to be over..

I really liked that book, and I'm really hit or miss with Maggie Stiefvater. I thought the plot was really interesting, and didn't get *too* YA-y, if you know what I mean.

That's too bad. I really like BDB.

message 1719: by Karin (new)

Karin Oh no I love BDB I'm reading her latest Fallen Angels book... Huge disappointment compared to everything else she's written.

message 1720: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk I'm putting Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane aside for now. I'm going to do a BDB re-read. I stopped at JM's book, but my friend just finished Blay & Quinn's book and she said it was awesome.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 188 comments cant concentrate on one read and keep buying more. :(

here's a couple:
A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3) by Cassandra Clare James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl

thinking about picking up a few more nothing seems to be un-putdownable

message 1722: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost - which was a fun read but not exactly the brilliant masterpiece I was expecting given the hype. Cat and Bones's banter is great but their romance didn't really grab me. Maybe it will in the next book.

Now listening to Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones - pretty good so far.

Oh, I loved Cat and Bones! That's what made the book for me, lol.

My daughter's bff loaned me her copy of Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick . I've been hearing a lot of good things about it.

That is the way that I read the whole series. I don't know that I could have read the books, but listening was great. I did have some slight trouble at the start getting all the characters straight.

In a book you see the names, so even if you can't pronounce them, you recognize them.

I do think the Game of Thrones books are worth reading. The tv show does follow them closely, but there is a lot that is left out. Even with 13 hours it can't begin to cover over a 1000 page book that closely.

Thank goodness I did read the first 250 pages of A Game of Thrones or I would be totally lost with all the characters in the audio. I love audio books, but I have a hard time remember character's names when I listen vs read. And there are so many in this one and with some unusual names.

That is the only bad thing about reading via audio when a book has a large cast of characters.

Yes, the TV show requires a lot of concentration! In fact, I watch it with my daughter so we can help each other remember who is what.

I stopped reading them after JM's book. Not sure why, but my friend read the newest one and liked it. I decided to start from the beginning. Dark Lover was just as good as it was the first couple of times I read it :)
