Urban Fantasy discussion
What are you reading?
I am really enjoying
. It's an interesting mix of a dystopian novel with vampires! And there is enough mystery to keep me intrigued.
Finished
starting
. I've got impression that this is the final book in this series. I'm going to miss Elena and Clay the most. Definitely going to re-read this series again.
Ashley Marie wrote: "Ex-Heroes looks really interesting. Let me know if you like it, because I'm considering using it for a challenge I'm doing!"I had high hopes for this one, thought the premise sounded interesting, however it didn't work out for me. I am not sure why, it took me over an hour to read 25 pages, a long time for me. I found my mind wandering while I read, not a good sign. In the end, this one wasn't for me.
If it sounds like something you would like, give it a try, but try to get it from the library so if you don't care for it you aren't out money, just time.

. I like it but it's a little slow, more traditional fantasy. It's the first of a trilogy but I'm not sure that I'll be running right out to get the next one.

Thanks, Darcy. I'll probably leave it on my TBR, but I'm not sure I'll bump it to the top of the pile... Your opinion helped!

This is also my fav for the series so far.
Finished Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, and Opal (#3 in the Lux series) and I'm currently reading Darkness Falls by Mia James. And P.s. I'm still obsessed with The Edge of Never. Another recent read that blew my mind!
Started
I'm playing catch up as the last in The Hollows has been picked for BoM and also this series has been on my TBR list after being mentioned here a few times. So far so good!
Cant find what I wrote here last but I just finished
and
both good I dont know what I want to read next need to read
because I have it out as a Library book but so far its not intresting enough.
I finished

I'm finding it surprisingly easy to read. I was making good progress and then he went and (view spoiler)

If that was all he did to Brann, we'd be lucky :(
George is kind of mean to all of my favorite characters.
I finished reading Paper Valentine. I didn't think I would like the story, but I did. It's basically a YA murder mystery with ghosts. Not nicely creepy like Yovanoff's other 2 stories, but still well written and interesting enough. I am currently reading Grave Witch and listening to Pale Demon.
Ashley Marie wrote: "George is kind of mean to all of my favorite characters. "It is so well-written, it certainly flows. But my heart is in my throat the whole time! Sign of a good book, I guess :)
I am re-reading
by Judith BermanThe cover is misleading because it gives the impression that the novel is both YA and Native American. In fact the story takes place in an alternative universe resembling the Pre-Colombian Pacific West Coast. The author is an anthropologist and is indeed inspired by the indigenous traditions of the Pacific North West but also influenced by Old World like Celtic traditions. The novel has an Epic fantasy feeling.
Finished
. As a whole, it was less than satisfying. Currently reading
. It was on the new shelf at my library, but it's about the second Doctor, who I don't know. I haven't read very much yet, I hope the science fiction wows me.
Just finished
and can't wait for book 7.. love me some Dex and Perry. I just started
... this is book three and I LOVE this series.

.I'll be interested to see what you think of
. It looks intriguing - or rather, I should say the cover looks intriguing. Yes, it's shallow of me. But the cover looks like I would like the book. :)
Thank you Darcy, I didn't know there is new
Remy Chandler! Did you like it?I'm currently rereading
, because my book before that was
and I needed a palate cleanser. Next up for RL book group is
.
Julia wrote: "Thank you Darcy, I didn't know there is new
Remy Chandler! Did you like it?"Glad that I could help you out with the new release. I haven't quite made it to that one yet, just started #3. I think I love the conversations between Remy and Marlowe the best in this series.
I just got Black Magic Sanction from library overdrive. I can't believe how long it has taken to get the books from the series this way I started requesting them in December. I really wish the publishers would find a better way to work with libraries.
I finished Grave Witch and Lord Loss. Both good reads in different ways. I will start Demon Thief and try to finish Extras.
Julia wrote: "Thank you Darcy, I didn't know there is new In the House of the Wicked (Remy Chandler, #5) Remy Chandler! Did you like it"The book wasn't what I expected. The whole premise of the book is that Ashley gets kidnapped, so I expected more of her, but she didn't really come into play into late in the book. I also wanted more Linda, Mulvehill, and Marlowe.
I will say that this book is a game changer, particularly after reading a conversation Remy had with a certain person we haven't ever seen, but is talked about constantly.
I've just finished
and loved it. I'm looking forward to the next in the series--reading about Heidi and Bridge gave me a lot to think about in terms of writing PNR. Now I'm reading
and
and have high hopes.
Finished
last weekend. I really liked it and the series has so much potential. The sequel doesn't come out till August! Crap!
Since I'm all snowed in I'll probably get to read quite a few books once I dig out my driveway (darn responsibility). First up
and I'm still plowing my way through
Chakara wrote: "trying to read
the shiny cover drew me in. The Characters not so much."I hate it when that happens.
Currently reading
and anxiously awaiting
next week.
I just finished
by Ursula K. Le Guin. I loved it!!!It's not my first LeGuin or my first in the Hainish cycle, but it makes me wonder why I haven't read her in so long. Now reading
by Alyson Noel, because it is supposedly set at least partially in New Mexico.
I want to read the next Miriam Black book, too!
I got this as a freebie, and so far it's pretty good.
