Thanks for the mini review, Jonathan. I've been wanting to check out this series for quite a while.

Christine | 752 comments I am really enjoying The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1) by Julie Kagawa . It's an interesting mix of a dystopian novel with vampires! And there is enough mystery to keep me intrigued.

message 1603: by Anika (new)

Anika (teddybear1) | 110 comments Finished Dark Frost (Mythos Academy, #3) by Jennifer Estep starting Thirteen (Women of the Otherworld, #13) by Kelley Armstrong . I've got impression that this is the final book in this series. I'm going to miss Elena and Clay the most. Definitely going to re-read this series again.

I had high hopes for this one, thought the premise sounded interesting, however it didn't work out for me. I am not sure why, it took me over an hour to read 25 pages, a long time for me. I found my mind wandering while I read, not a good sign. In the end, this one wasn't for me.

If it sounds like something you would like, give it a try, but try to get it from the library so if you don't care for it you aren't out money, just time.

This book is on my TBR list and I've been thinking about bumping it up. I'm currently reading

Mistborn The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1) by Brandon Sanderson . I like it but it's a little slow, more traditional fantasy. It's the first of a trilogy but I'm not sure that I'll be running right out to get the next one.

Thanks, Darcy. I'll probably leave it on my TBR, but I'm not sure I'll bump it to the top of the pile... Your opinion helped!

Christine | 752 comments I finished The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1) by Julie Kagawa and thought it was great. Now I'm listening to Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, # 1) by Kami Garcia which I am enjoying immensely so far.

And I just started A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin . It's a long one. Wish me luck.

If that was all he did to Brann, we'd be lucky :(
George is kind of mean to all of my favorite characters.

message 1619: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished reading Paper Valentine. I didn't think I would like the story, but I did. It's basically a YA murder mystery with ghosts. Not nicely creepy like Yovanoff's other 2 stories, but still well written and interesting enough.

I am currently reading Grave Witch and listening to Pale Demon.

It is so well-written, it certainly flows. But my heart is in my throat the whole time! Sign of a good book, I guess :)

message 1621: by Jalilah (last edited Feb 11, 2013 01:12PM) (new)

Jalilah I am re-reading Bear Daughter by Judith Berman by Judith Berman
The cover is misleading because it gives the impression that the novel is both YA and Native American. In fact the story takes place in an alternative universe resembling the Pre-Colombian Pacific West Coast. The author is an anthropologist and is indeed inspired by the indigenous traditions of the Pacific North West but also influenced by Old World like Celtic traditions. The novel has an Epic fantasy feeling.

message 1622: by Julia (new)

Julia | 615 comments Finished The Beet Fields Memories of a Sixteenth Summer by Gary Paulsen . As a whole, it was less than satisfying. Currently reading Doctor Who - The Wheel of Ice by Stephen Baxter . It was on the new shelf at my library, but it's about the second Doctor, who I don't know. I haven't read very much yet, I hope the science fiction wows me.

I'll be interested to see what you think of Soulbound (Lone Star Witch, #1) by Tessa Adams . It looks intriguing - or rather, I should say the cover looks intriguing. Yes, it's shallow of me. But the cover looks like I would like the book. :)

I'm currently rereading The Warrior's Apprentice (Vorkosigan Saga, #3) by Lois McMaster Bujold , because my book before that was Room by Emma Donoghue and I needed a palate cleanser. Next up for RL book group is The Telling by Ursula K. Le Guin .

Glad that I could help you out with the new release. I haven't quite made it to that one yet, just started #3. I think I love the conversations between Remy and Marlowe the best in this series.

Tasha Turner (tashaturner) I just got Black Magic Sanction from library overdrive. I can't believe how long it has taken to get the books from the series this way I started requesting them in December. I really wish the publishers would find a better way to work with libraries. Darcy (sunnytat462) | 822 comments Julia wrote: "Thank you Darcy, I didn't know there is new In the House of the Wicked (Remy Chandler, #5) Remy Chandler! Did you like it"

The book wasn't what I expected. The whole premise of the book is that Ashley gets kidnapped, so I expected more of her, but she didn't really come into play into late in the book. I also wanted more Linda, Mulvehill, and Marlowe.

I will say that this book is a game changer, particularly after reading a conversation Remy had with a certain person we haven't ever seen, but is talked about constantly.

Dana Cameron | 7 comments I've just finished The Trouble With Fate (Mystwalker, #1) by Leigh Evans and loved it. I'm looking forward to the next in the series--reading about Heidi and Bridge gave me a lot to think about in terms of writing PNR. Now I'm reading The Sweet Scent of Blood (Spellcrackers.com, #1) by Suzanne McLeod and Fated (Alex Verus, #1) by Benedict Jacka and have high hopes.

message 1643: by Stephanie (new)

The sequel doesn't come out till August! Crap!
Since I'm all snowed in I'll probably get to read quite a few books once I dig out my driveway (darn responsibility). First up Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning and I'm still plowing my way through Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger
