The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
question
Does anyone know how well this book was received by the Lacks family?

The author goes to great efforts to emphasize her respectful treatment of the Lacks family, and anecdotes and family photos seems to indicate that they saw Skloot's work in a favorable light (at least eventually). Even so, I'm curious how the family felt about the finished project. Some of the portrayals seem less than flattering--accurate perhaps, but less than flattering. I couldn't find any indication of their reception of the book, even when I visited the "Lacks family's website": http://www.lacksfamily.com/ To me, the silence seems disturbingly deafening, but I wonder if others had more insight to share.
Addendum: Having just posted this question, I went to Rebecca Skloot's website, and I found a little bit about the Lacks' reaction here: http://rebeccaskloot.com/faq/#questio.... I'm pleased to see that the family was happy with the book, but I have to be a little skeptical, just because of the source. Any additional insight anyone has to add is still appreciated.

I'm curious as well. Overall I liked the book, but I found parts of it disturbing regarding the author's portrayal of the family and certain events, as well as her part in it.
Thanks for that link Amy, I hadn't thought to look into the author's web site but there's some interesting stuff there.
