Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix question

Was this a good installment in the series?

Ciara, I totally agree with you! This book is still one of my favorite books. Harry loses another person in his battle against Voldemort and I love the end.

I almost feel like Rowling got stuck here and was off reading fanfiction in the meantime, losing her way. Maybe she was off her rhythm, because it started coming back in the 6th book, and fully in the 7th.

This book was amazing, as were the other books in the series. This book really had that dark element, and a book doesn't have to be full of twists to be good (though this one DID have twists, but I'll get to that later.)
There was Sirius dying, Umbridge and DA, Grawp, Harry's hearing, Cho Chang, Luna Lovegood, Ron playing Quidditch...these are not so much twists, but interesting parts of the book, and some twists. So I think it was really good!

It was a good installment, and a great book, as all the HP books are.
But it was my least favourite book, too. I agree with some of the above comments; it was too long, and a too slow. I think I remember J.K. herself saying it was a little too dragged out. It was a good book, but it took too long for things to start 'happening.'

i was necessary because it showed Harry's struggle of knowing Voldemort is back and every one is to scared to admit it. that being said it is still my least fav.

I loved this movie by far, one of my favs. The book however... Couldn't even read past 60 pages.

This was TERRIBLE, mainly because of Umbrige. >:( Oh yeah, and Sirius's death. :,(

I wouldn't say this book was terrible but it just dragged on and on and on and I found it very hard to get through. There were some significant events but I'd truthfully rather just read some sort of summary of the book than read it again. Don't get me wrong, I love the series. This book would have to be my least favourite though.

This book is actually my favorite in the series. All that has happened to Harry over the last few years has finally caught up with him and he rebels and is angry as he should be. He had lost a lot by this point in the story and he felt completely alone. Dumbledore was avoiding him, people were calling him a liar, friends turning their backs on him. How else should he have reacted to all this? And Umbridge is the perfect villain next to Voldemort, she has to be the ultimate character you love to hate. And of course the bond between Harry and Sirius and the heart wrenching way that his death was written and affected Harry after everything else he has been through. I would have to agree that the Cho Chang and Grawp bits were annoying and could have been left out.

This was my favorite, and that's mainly because of Luna Lovegood. I also loved the DA and occulmency. True, Harry made the wrong decision at every turn in this book, but that's what a 15-year-old boy is like. I thought it was excellent!

My least favorite of the series. 870 pages and not enough happened. The not quite romance with Cho Chang was a big time waster. Grawp was another time waster, in fact by now, I am sick of Hagrid in general.

I was glad when I got to the end.
