Gail Koger (gailkoger) | 36 comments I plan on seeing this but I'm like - where the heck did all those apes and gorillas come from? I could see a hundred but it looks like thousands of rampaging monkeys. Just wondering.

Pauline (paulinebairdjones) | 345 comments I saw a longer trailer at the movie. They break out of research facilities. Basically it is a research project gone bad.

A.R. Norris | 21 comments Ugh... I can't watch another Planet of the Apes. What is it, 4 or 5 original movie & sequels, a tv series, and a remake in the late 90s?

Not another.

Pauline (paulinebairdjones) | 345 comments Was never a fan of the movies, I will confess. Don't plan to see this one.

AnnaM (annamc) | 1111 comments Is this a remake or a total re-envisioning? I adored the original movies as a kid, though I never quite understood how they went from one smart chimp to enough to overthrow humans all in one chimp generation.

What saddens me is when kids think the remakes are the originals. This happens to me with music a lot. My kids will say, "I like this song", and I'll say, "the original was so much better." They say, "Huh?" and we have to look it up on Youtube. LOL. Usually they agree with me.

It's not always the same with movies since the special effects now are so much better.

Pauline (paulinebairdjones) | 345 comments I think it might be re-envision? Though I don't know. I've never seen any of the movies all the way through, nor have I read the book. From the trailer, they used this ape to experiment a way to cure Alzheimer's. They make the ape really smart. He starts to live with them. He protects one of the people he lives with by attacking a neighbor or something. Gets put in zoo. Taunted by evil zoo workers. Breaks out. Steals the formula, gives it to all the apes and they start to take over. Yeah, all that in the trailer.

Yeah SF! We rule!

Haha yeah that was all in the trailer and that is pretty much what happened in the movie. I wouldn't spend your money going to see it in the theaters but I didn't think it was too horrible, or it didn't start heading in that direction until the apes started taking over. It's kinda hard to convey emotion and have it be taken seriously when its just the apes running around.

If your curious, and you like planet of the apes I don't think it will be a waste of your time if you rent it. Maybe I think this way because I was expecting to be unimpressed, but it actually did a little better than I thought.

Chaeya | 31 comments Sounds like that's it in a nutshell. My husband liked the last movie. I'm still on the fence because it's not really a must see to me. I know we humans can be stupid and there's a lot of bureaucratic b.s. in the world, but I get tired of the movies making us appear mindlessly aggressive, so the underlings can take over.
