Faith Noelle Smith What do you all think. Was the ending to Mockjaying hollow? Should they really killed of Prim?

message 2: by Leila (new)

Leila (leilacarrollann) | 104 comments I kind of like the ending. It was really sad when Prim died, I cried. But I think it added something to the story. The ending with Katniss and Peeta made me really happy though.

message 3: by Faith Noelle (new)

Faith Noelle Smith Its adds trhats it make everone want to throw there books againest the wall thats what it added when Suezan Collins killed off Prim. But other wise it was ok.

Waterfall *Daughter of Northridge Earthquake* (falls) I thought it was dumb that they left off what happened to some of the characters. Like Gale? 'He's off doing television' isn't quite an ending.

message 5: by Faith Noelle (new)

Faith Noelle Smith I thought he was going to a other distirct. When did it say that?

Waterfall *Daughter of Northridge Earthquake* (falls) In the ending somewhere, that the media liked his face so he was doing television, touring districts or something. That was it.

 Faith Noelle Smith Oh yeah.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) (3teofilea3) | 523 comments wow...I just don't think that they would get married when they are like 17..

Faith Noelle Smith I liked it to say the least.

message 11: by Eve (new)

Eve (emusings) What bothered me about the ending was that Katniss is so distant now. She's been through the games. twice. And she's lost her sister, and seen millions of others die. It seems so incomplete, she's so fragile, she's not herself anymore, which is understandable, but heartbreaking.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) (3teofilea3) | 523 comments Yes. I don't know what happened to the strong Katniss, but she is no longer with us. Here is my review for it:
[edit]

Okay. So I have a lot of thoughts about this book. I didn't like it as much as THG and CF. For one, the begging of the book was very drawn out. The reader only collects a bit of information from the first 100 pages. And then near the end it was death, death, death. Shouldn't there be middle? The deaths seemed...to sudden and quick for me to process. I know this IS war, but I think the characters needed perhaps a few seconds more? Speaking of deaths, I think Finnick's death was unnecessary. I suppose the reason was to show that your friends can die in war too, but wasn't Boggs and the other crew memembers enough? Didn't Finnick deserve his "happy ending"?

Next, I didn't like all of the meaningless kisses shared betwen Gale and Katniss. It was sorta like this "Oh Gale, you are in pain? I'll just kiss you so we can keep up this love triangle Suzanne Collins wants us to have." They weren't needed. I also didn't like how Gale was just suddenly out of Katniss's life and it seemed she no longer cared. What happen to that wonderful friendship between them?

Also, Katniss gave up on Peeta when he was hijacked. She had spent most of her time sick with worry and what not and now that he's been hijacked she just gives up on him!? I hate Peeta's hijacking. I believe it was necessary, but that didn't make me like it anymore. What happen to the kind, innocent, forever loving Katniss, steady Peeta? I also believe Prim's death was necessary, but did that make me like it more? No.

At the end, there was no talk of how the district were or anything like that. There was no imformation on all of the other characters. It seemed as though all she cared about was getting by. I did NOT like the epilogue. Katniss seemed so much more despressed. I know you can't blame her, but I didn't think she tried hard enough to be happy.

So all in all, a good book. Did I like everything? No. But this will remain one of the most tear-jerking stories to me :((less)[edit]

Eve (emusings) I personally thing these enraging plot points are Suzanne's tool. Would you be as enthralled if everyone lived happily ever after? You might feel better for your favorite characters, but over all, the reading would be much less rich. Secondly, I think its part of Katniss's personality to greave endlessly for her sister and the other lost characters. I don't think it's possible for her to try harder to forget about them, because they were her whole world. The ending was torturous, yes, but it was also brilliantly crafted.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) (3teofilea3) | 523 comments Yes, I don't think I would of liked if it was a "happily ever after". AGREED!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

A happily ever after would have left me to abandon the series forever.

message 16: by Sheena (new)

Sheena (shybrandon) Suzanne Collins didn't have to leave Katniss so lost though! She left Katniss alone and empty. She wasn't even herself anymore, just an empty shell of what she used to be. I understand going through war changes a person but by the end of the book she's not herself anymore. And did everyone seriously have to abandon her? Even her mom didn't come back. And Peeta and Katniss getting together at the end of the book after everything they went through wasn't joyous. I'm so heartbroken.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) (3teofilea3) | 523 comments Yes..Well it just shows the impact war has on a person. Plain and simple.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I loved the ending! It was bittersweet, which was the absolute perfect ending for this series...

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Exactly!

message 21: by Faith Noelle (new)

Faith Noelle Smith I liked the ending, but the hated it, cause well... she died. D:

message 22: by Dj (new)

Dj | 1 comments It ended the only way it could have ended. Regarding Gale & Peeta, I did want to learn more about Gale and did want him back in Katniss' life, but what transpired between Gale and Katniss just prior to the president's execution sums up the reason that this will never be able to be. It was just about the saddest part of the book for me...the what if...the what if Katniss was never reaped? Could she and the boy she met 5 years ago in the woods have made a life for themselves? It's explained that not only can Katniss never see Gale the same way again without thinking of the bomb that killed Prim, but Gale can no longer face Katniss. He doesn't even come to visit her while she's recovering from her burns. It is too painful for him, too much guilt to bear. It is too painful for her, for the two of them to see one another again. The innocence is gone and the nightmares cannot be forgotten. The two of them together would only continue to cause one another pain and be a constant reminder that things just were not the same as they were when they were kids back in the woods hunting. Peeta was the one who always held her during her nightmares and made her feel better. Also, as Katniss points out, she and Gale would fuel one another with their anger and together, the two of them would never know peace. Apart, as sad as I find it, they may at least know peace at times. Yes, I don't know if this is the ending I wanted or not, but sadly nothing could be the same again for Gale and Katniss. It ended the only way it could....

ℂᖺαᖇᒪἷ℮ ⊰1017 &Tardis⊱ (charlie_awesome) Some people regard the ending as positive, but it is not. Her kids are playing in a graveyard! It's meant to be creepy, not happy.

message 24: by Lanie (new)

Lanie Jazz (strumsingluv) I loved the ending. I love that her and Peeta had kids but ya it is kinda creepy. I was rlly sad when Prim died. I think I cried. Do you ever feel like you don want a story to stop and that they would just keepon making more books? I always get sad when a series is over.

message 25: by Lanie (new)

Lanie Jazz (strumsingluv) Yes, also. WHAT HAPPENED TO GALE!!!! All they said was that he went to work back at the capitol! So what? I wanna know more! He was a main character people! After Katniss found Peeta she never gave him a chance.

ℂᖺαᖇᒪἷ℮ ⊰1017 &Tardis⊱ (charlie_awesome) Yes! His dissapearence was totally out of character.

Lanie Jazz (strumsingluv) Yeah,Katniss wasn't ever herself again. I cried when they illed of Prim. I undertsand that it added to the book, but why did it have to happen!!!!!! Sad.

YEAH!!! GIVE US MORE INFO PEOPLE!!!!

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I think the last sentence left me stunned.

"But there are much worse games to play."

I was just thinking "My life is changed. I won't be able to read books anymore because none can compare to the Hunger Games" I loved that Katniss finnaly had the courage to have children even through her fears. That Peeta loved her so much to help her through anything and everything. I miss Rue, Prim, and Finnick. I think Gale was maybe hurt in a way that can't be explained by Katniss choosing Peeta, but he needed to be there for her, not off making bombs with the people that murdered Prim. But I loved the books and the ending was just as good as every other part.
I love you, Peeta<3
*Salutes Rue*
*Ties a fishing knot*
*Thinks of Prim fondly*

~Ivy Directioner Curl~ {Iris Evergreen} (IrisEvergreen) Not to be a gale hater, but seriously? Obviously or atleast to him, katniss didn't love him. She loved peeta in his brain. And in the book, there's a few parts where she thinks she's in love with gale, but then feels guilty for peeta. If she had loved gale so much, she would have moved on from peeta the second he (spoiler) got kidnapped and her and gale were kissing. Gale may have loved katniss, and katniss probably still has some feelings for him BUT, she picked peeta, not gale. She choose peeta because she loved him, not because gale pressured her into loving him. And not to mention, gale is quite a jerk in the last book, considering he got some job with the people that killed prim, and then just left katniss forever. If he had loved her that much, he would have fought peeta for her, and obviously he'd put a good fight. Gale loved katniss and katniss loved gale, she just loved peeta more. TEAM BOTH! I DON'T CARE WHO THE FUDGE KATNISS WANTS TO LOVE AS LONG AS SHE IS HAPPY! Personally though I prefer peeta over gale for katniss and, or me. I LOVE THE BOY WHO WAS ON FIRE!

~Ivy Directioner Curl~ {Iris Evergreen} (IrisEvergreen) Everybody always forgets peeta was on fire too!

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Exactly! It annoys me.

Why was he never the boy on fire is the fifth or sixth question I would ask Mrs. Collins.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

i kinda liked the end but the last chapter had no dialogue! what was up with that
