I read this sometime in the 1990's, I believe. It was about a big family, ten to twelve kids and I think they were all going to a summer house on vacation? Each one of the kids' names started with a letter of the alphabet, I know there was a boy named Bainbridge. Maybe a girl named Caroline? It might have also been part of a series of two or more. I remember at some point one of the kids finding a secret room through the laundry closet.
