Abraham Devilliers | 2 comments Excited for the 2017 Adaptation. But i don't think it can still do proper justice to the book. A 3-4 season HBO TV-Series would definitely would have been the best way to adapt it. They could have kept most of the parts of the book and it would have been Legendary. But a 2 part Movie is what we get!!. Hoping that it surprises me. The trailer looked really nice, Lets Hope the Movie ie even Better!!!!

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) | 52 comments I LOVE 'IT' so very much, and it cemented Stephen King as my favorite author.
One of the main reasons? King can write about CHILDHOOD so very well. His childhood tone/voice throughout *all* of his novels is fantastic, but it is *especially* well done in It which I discovered when I was about 12(?) or so-a GREAT age to read 'IT' for the 1st time, btw!-...At *that* age? Man, I was so *quickly* able to identify with all of these young characters, because of King's fantastic way of writing childhood...and its friendships and dialogue...and the WORLD of childhood, really...so very well.

Lately, he has done a great job of writing about childhood via children's POV in the awesome 1st piece found in The Bazaar of Bad Dreams (... It was called Mile 81 ) , and it was also released as a separate story online, I do believe, before the The Bazaar of Bad Dreams collection was released.
Check it out if you can- I recommend it highly!--Jen from Quebec :0)

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) | 52 comments Please, please discard the TV mini-series crap from your mind, as the NOVEL is an entirely different ballgame- and a better one.

King creates an entirely believable world down in The Barrens of Derry, and that is *never* captured in the 'film' as well as it is in the novel ...Also, that sense of deep, childhood friendship in the mini-series feels/looks/seems...forced and fake, whereas the novel always rings so true.
(Well, that is just a *teeny tiny portion* of the components that the mini-series missed! THE NOVEL IS THE REAL DEAL! Sorry- hit a nerve there. I was the crazy kid at school pushing the book on you in the hallway when that shit was on TV...)--Jen from Quebec :0)

Jill | 2 comments I finished it last night - I liked it a lot, I thought I was so much more elaborate than any movie could capture. Kept me interested - the only other stephen king novel I read was The Shining, and I enjoyed this more, mainly because the concepts were more elaborate. I liked how deep into the supernatural he went. I would like to eventually read The Dark Tower to gain some more insight into his macroverse.
