White Fang

No Spoilers here please

Now you're teasing us! We still don't know what the next book read is!!

"The suspence is terrible! I hope it lasts" - as Gwendolin says in The Importance of Being Earnest.

message 22: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 75 comments I have looked at this a few times but always been persuaded towards a more modern book. It's been in my to read list since Christmas. Great choice Patti. Just like In the blood it is taking me out of my normal genre which I am learning with the kindle is so much more satisfying. Thank you.

message 23: by Angela (new)

Angela (bubblyfish) | 53 comments I read this years ago but look forward to second time around. Have to finish off That Summer in Ischia.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

A book I would never have picked for myself, however, I have downloaded and looking forward to trying something different, that's what my Kindle is all about for me :-)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Aw shame, Philip!

message 33: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just downloaded it. I'm currently reading The Circling Song - read about it on here and it's absolutely brilliant! Shouldn't be long finishing it though.

message 34: by Anita (new)

Anita | 3313 comments Read Wite Fang earlier in the year won't say a word about it yet, hope you all enjoy it.

message 35: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (carolinecaroline) | 69 comments I haven't started the last one yet!

Amazed I have not read it before.

message 36: by Chookgate (new)

Chookgate | 74 comments At least the author's not waiting in the wings anxious about our reviews and questions! I have downloaded it, and will get around to reading it, but I am in the middle of a book I just bought, have another waiting that has just been released, and by the time I've read that, another that I have on pre-order will have been released, and I'm really looking forward to it. I think I might be too late with White Fang for the discussions.

message 37: by Maureen (Mews) (new)

Maureen (Mews) (mews) | 711 comments I so want to read this book. But I am a little aprehensive about it. At the risk of sounding like a total weirdo, I am very OVER-sensitive when it comes to reading or watching anything with animals in it (particularly dogs). I remember wanting to read Marley and Me a few years ago and couldn't bring myself to do it.

Couldn't even watch Animal Hospital when it was on a few years ago...lol.

I am sure whatever it is stems back to my childhood because my mother tells me she had to ban Lassie from being watched in our house because I was inconsolable after each episode.

(Btw confessing this does not make me feel any less of a weirdo about it, in fact it's rather embarrassing). ;-)

Thats alright my husband has forbidden us from watching Marley and Me (and if i'm honest i can't bring myself to watch it without him even though i kinda want to) We're a bit daft about animals especially dogs so totally understand and don't feel embarrassed. Everyone has that little something that makes them that wee bit different. You're quirky not weird thats the way i look at it :o)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Maureen, I'm honoured that you feel so comfortable with us! Have a google of the book and see what you think. I completely understand if you decide to give it a pass. I have a sister in law who feels exactly the same!

message 40: by Chookgate (new)

Chookgate | 74 comments Maureen, whatever you do, don't read Incredible Journey!

message 41: by Steve (new)

Steve Robinson (steverobinson) | 2926 comments Jud (judder) wrote: "Thats alright my husband has forbidden us from watching Marley and Me"

My wife's the same, Jud. She recorded Marly and me, but she can't bring herself to watch it. I rarely watch a movie by myself, so I won't get to see it either until she's ready to.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments My dad in law gave us a copy of Marley and Me to take home today. Hes lovely. Didn't have the heart to tell him I don't read DTBs anymore. I'll probably download it though.

message 43: by Kerstie (new)

Kerstie | 42 comments downloaded will give it a go, never read it before.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments I'm still working my way through In The Blood. Am I ever going to catch up?

I think we need a new title. Book of the month is becoming increasingly inappropriate.

Geoff

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No problem, Geoff. In the Blood is still our 'book of the month' until August 20th and White Fang is til September 1st. We're trying to accommodate all reading speeds and everyone's opportunity to spend time reading in their busy lives. Have you a suggestion for a better title? Preferably with a pun in it!

message 46: by Cw (new)

Cw (confusedwombat) Arg!! Having just discovered how to show progress on book I cant get rotten page numbers up on White Fang. Mutter.

I actually do not care if I finish WF - I was so totally gobsmacked by a perfect sentence on the first page that the rest of the book risks being an anti-climax.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments But what if there is an even more perfect sentence further in, CW? Do you dare to risk it?

Audrey (Seaholly) | 219 comments Like the sound of perfect sentences. A really well written book is lovely.

Is why I'm at Loc834 and don't want to bother with sleep tonight :)
