Shaunna McLaren (shaunnareads) So, as most of you are now probably aware - I have a book review blog that I started a week and a half ago. So far I've posted 5 reviews, but I feel I could be doing more with the blog, even though it is a book review blog.

I was wondering what else you reviewers post/do with your book review blog other than simply reviews, and if there's anything I could be adding to my blog?

Blog URL: http://sfmscarletletters.blogspot.com/

Thanks!

EDIT:

What memes would you all recommend? Sorry for all the questions, but I've googled it and there's so many, I'm getting confused! Haha. Ones that are particularly good/useful for a new blogger would be great! :)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) I do memes that people host on other blogs
Author interviews
Giveaways
Cover Reveals.
Polls

there's quite a lot you can do

Shaunna McLaren (shaunnareads) Ah, thank you! :) I don't think I can afford any giveaways right now, though, but the other things sound good. Thank you!

How do you do your author interviews? Do you approach authors on here and ask?

Sorry, I'm a complete newbie to all of this!

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) I've emailed them to ask for interviews
Don't get discouraged if they say no. I've only really got interviews with indie authors who are really nice and usually send you a e-copy of their book to review.

Shaunna McLaren (shaunnareads) Ah, okay! Thanks a lot for your help. Will look into getting some more things on the go! :)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) if you need any help just ask =)

Shaunna McLaren (shaunnareads) Thanks a lot, really appreciate it! :) WIll try not to annoy you too much! =P

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 474 comments There are a few groups that if you ask around I'm sure that you'll find authors who are willing to do interviews and are sometimes willing to do anything. I've had some ask to do character interviews too just as a suggestion as another option.

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments Shaunna, often if you ask, indies are well up for offering a free ebook for a giveaway. Those who are in paper-copy might be up for those too, but when doing interviews it's worth asking the author if they'd like to donate one. I know I've done a few giveaways before now, and if it's just a matter of a vouchercode for Smashwords it doesn't cost us anything.

Downside of that is that there are a lot of ebook giveaways so you'll probably get more entries for a hard-copy one, but I think not nec so few that it's not worth doing...
