Gorgeous horses Sharon. I'm in for a trip to your farm too. I've heard Montana is very pretty. Andalusians are some of my favorites, at least to look at. I've never ridden one. My uncle has horses and he keeps buying Tennesse Walkers. Now I just need to get out to his house and go riding.

That's just wonderful. Just wonderful. :-D
I have always wanted to go to Montana. I love horses! I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, so no horses, but when I started training in my field, I fell in love with them. I always did like pegasus and unicorns as a kid, so I guess I was predisposed to love horses.

The first book I can actually remember getting as a gift (I was probably 6, first grade) was a book called "Crazy Quilt" written and illustrated by Paul Brown. I lost it in a house fire right after high school graduation and just last year found it on one of the used book sites ... and it now sits on my bookshelf again!
I would too ... although I would cheerfully settle for one of the Damar horses ... and the ability to ride them!

My other goals were to have a cat, a dog, a house, a man, and one kid and a horse, preferably a draft horse, like a Friesian especially....
I had a Barbie horse that I used to take out to ride in the backyard. I also had a My Little Pony pegasus and a unicorn. I had a poster on my wall of Pegusus. Yes, I was obsessed with pegasus and unicorns growing up.
In fantasy, one can connect with fantasy better than any other genre, one can go back and reread it because one is so emotional attached to the characters, making the story different every time it is read.
I think fantasy has the most freedom to tell a story. Fiction is restricted by what can happen in the world we live in. And science fiction either has to play by the rules or risk becoming obsolete by new discoveries. It's also a cheap vacation to worlds we can never visit.
I think a personal reason for me is my family follows politics, and I do too when I'm forced to listen, and fantasy is a way to escape this.

I grew up on horseback on a Montana ranch that my grandparents homesteaded. Was introduced to Andalusians and dressage in my 20s during a 4-plus year tour in Spain (military husband). Took early retirement and have been breeding warmbloods and sportponies for dressage and eventing for the last 20 years.
