[SOLVED] YA fantasy book from about 10 years ago [s]

Today I randomly thought about a book that I read when I was in grade school, but I can't remember what it was at all! Here's what I remember about it:

-YA fantasy, probably published about 10+ years ago.
-The main characters were a young teenaged girl and boy, possibly betrothed to each other, and royalty (?)
-They both had powers, but I only remember the girl's power - she and her parents could imagine things into being. I seem to remember that the things they imagined weren't exactly real, though.
-The characters regularly ate a fancy dish called dragon flambe.
-The cover had some kind of colorful checkerboard design on it.

If anyone remembers what this book was, I would be eternally grateful!

Thank you! The one I read was the second book of that series, More Minds. Now I can stop tearing my hair out about it. :)
