Charlotte | 79 comments I saw this game in another group called Book Haven and thought it would be fun to try here. Creator: J.D. Stroube

I'll start by giving hints about a book character I am thinking of.

Once someone guesses the character correctly, they will describe a character of their choice for others to guess.

Rules: (I'm open to suggestions)
1. As a way of autocontrol, so people don't have to wait for the "YOU GOT IT RIGHT", end your entry with the last 3 digits of the book-id. Use the most used edition. You can easily do this by adding the book with the add book/author functionality, and then delete everything but the last 3 digits of the id.

People playing can see if the book they think it is is the right one, by going to the book page (make sure it's the most used edition - this is the edition that shows up in the search) and check the address bar. (Thanks to Yz the Whyz for this rule.)

2. If a day or two goes by and no one guesses your character correctly, give some more hints.

3. Include the name of the book and/or series the character is from as well as his or her name.

4. No spoilers. If a character has an ability or trait that is revealed later in the plot, don't mention it.

5. There is no limit to guesses or turns. Everyone may guess and take a turn as many times as they like.

6. This isn't a hard and fast rule, but try not to pick obscure characters.

7. Have fun! Let's try to keep this going! :)

I'll start off easy:

I'm a forty-year-old woman who was recently divorced. I went to buy a puppy in celebration, but came home with an older, depressed dog who ended up introducing me to my downstairs neighbor, a cute, single ER doctor. Just two problems. He's only thirty. And I've fallen for him.

Who am I?

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments This sounds like a contemporary book - I rarely read contemporary... :(

But I like your game Charlotte! ;)

Hope someone who reads this genre (whatever it is) logs in soon... I think the depressed dog is a good pointer...

message 5: by Danna (new)

Danna Please, another hint... name of a series or a hint

message 7: by Danna (new)

Danna Well, I guess that is it! Thank you for solving that out.

Now, who should confirm your suggestion? Who should offer another character description to recognize?

message 8: by Penney (new)

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments I think I have to wait for Charlotte to confirm it. I think? It was a really good book btw :)

Correct! Now it's your turn.

And sorry to everyone about my clue being tough. I thought I was starting off a little easier.

Thanks! I wasn't sure how well this would work, but I really wanted to try it.

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Yay! That means it's my turn...

I'm a red headed, kick-ass slayer (female) who inherited my skills from a father I never met. According to my mother he was a monster, so I use those skills to kill others of his kind.

Hmmm - which character to choose?

(I'll wait to see if I need to hand out extra clues... ;)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Great game idea, Charlotte.

If you don't mind, I'd like to add something to the rules. This one is copied from Jan's The Guess that Book Chain Game from the Paranormal Romance Group.

If the character spans a complete series, maybe the poster can use the first book.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments It sucked to be a vampire when you are afraid of blood, until a sexy doctor found a solution to my phobia and stole my heart in the process.

Who am I?

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Good idea Yz - that'll speed things up...

Is the most used edition the one that pops up first when you use the book/author functionality?

Pretty much.

And on that note, I think I made a mistake in my post. Just edited the number. *sheepish smile*
