Bobbie (zoningout) This topic is going to show mod's how to keep control of your members. Maybe you don't like to kick the out instantly and maybe they don't understand at first. So it would be great if you know the proper way for warning them, decipline, and finally annoucing there done. Experinced mod's please help out and give good advice and maybe some stories ^.^ on how you would deal with a out of control memeber!

I hope this helps!!

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten I find that if it's someone who's having trouble with keeping the rules while roleplaying, if you message them and tell them that you've noticed they are having a problem with(for example) power-playing, then they aren't all embarrassed and are less defensive and unpleasant to deal with then if you confront them in the topic. Then from there you can offer to roleplay with them for a little while(either over messages or in an rp) until they figure out exactly what it is their problem is, and how to avoid the problem and find the joy in not power-playing. It also helps if you put into their head their actions from the view of another. I usually try and do that last one first. Some don't care enough, or just still don't understand. That's when I'd offer to rp with them. Plus it can be kinda fun when you do that. :)

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten I don't mind if people join just to advertise as long as they keep them in the appropriate spot.
You know what, I've only had to remove two people from my Hunger Games group. Out of 400 something that've joined. I find if you respectfully(yet with authority) reprimand them and show them things from another point of view, then take the time to answer questions and get them to understand what they've done wrong, then you don't have any problems and the issue is solved.

I normally warn them in the topic, nicely, of course. Unless it's something huge. Normally the only problems I have is bad grammar. If they continue, I send them a PM, and then, if they CONTINUE again, I warn them in the topic. Embarrassment can sometimes stop people from doing things. If I accidentally hug someone who I thought was my father, I never do it again.

And then, if they CONTINUE again again, I talk to the other mods about it.

drew (drewbeck) In some of the groups I am in, we have a chart:
1-2 warnings= be careful
3-4 warnings= is being watched
5+ warnings= is removed.....

You guys are too nice. Especially you, Lynx.

I tend to do it a little more bluntly. If someone is having a problem, like arguing and such, I tell them to shut up about it in the roleplay and move it to another topic. Usually that will help kill it--a lot of times they don't care enough to move topics. If they do, and keep arguing and it gets nasty--I'm talking thirteen year old girls on their periods nasty, no offense--I'll tell them straight up, fight's over, give my verdict(Not 'Sally's right and Bob's wrong', but 'Sally, you are being a jerk, but Bob, that's no reason to explode about it') and tell them not to argue anymore. They can pick it up in a private message if they really want. If they start arguing with me, I bring out my debating skills, and not many survive that.

If it's stuff like grammar, I try to leave that alone, but do require quotations when people are talking and periods if multiple sentences are being written so I can understand what they're saying.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten I may be too nice and flexible about things, but it works. ;) And I am known as being blunt and brutally honest(mostly in person though). I'll speak up if I see something that needs fixed/solved, and if it's something more major then I can get rude. But in general I try to defuse the situation without annoying people and making them a volcano just waiting to explode. There's a reason people often come to me with their problems and questions. ;) I see things from weird angles and I'm good at defusing situations while not adding fuel to them. I'm sorry Falls, but that's what your solution to dealing with group members sounds like.....

 Faith Noelle Smith Hey guys,
What if you and your other mods in the group are trying to get people to make chacter for and RP and they have sent PMs and asked them too. Have any advice? Also if anyone has read the Hunger Games please cheeck out this group: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/5...

message 10: by Bobbie (new)

Bobbie (zoningout) hmph...I've never had a problem with group memebers honestly. And I don't know what to think about you guy's choice of dealing with this...

Bobbie (zoningout) 'What if you and your other mods in the group are trying to get people to make chacter for and RP and they have sent PMs and asked them too.'

huh? >.< *scratches head* I'm sorry but can you rephrase?

message 12: by Faith Noelle (new)

Faith Noelle Smith Ok what I am saying is that me and the other mods need some help. We are doing a Hunger Games RP but know one is making districts(chacters) and we need some help with getting them to we have already sent PMs and asked. Is there any adive you guys have?

message 13: by Bobbie (new)

Bobbie (zoningout) that's odd, hunger games is so popular! Sometimes is so fustrating that the members join and stay idle. if you like the forceful approach you'd send an inactive warning. letting them know how long they've been inactive and that there getting a warning. But otherwise I'd definately try to kick start the RP and make some charries of my own, as should the other mods. THEN roleplay. if that doesn't help...or you've already tooken that route too then Maybe...you could try to get more members through advertisement like you did here. I think I'll check out your group to see what's going on ^.^

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten Try and get some more members. Edit things to make sure it is clear, organized, and makes sense. If needed. Sometimes if it isn't organized well it's just overwhelming and confusing.... Um... yeah. Pretty much just invite new people and maybe add something to increase the interest in the group(a poll, a very interesting discussion, etc)
