Maria | 0 comments I've got a pretty busy home life, but when I can, I love reading, finding design inspiration, cooking, drinking coffee, and listening to music. I do have a blog that I've been neglecting for the past couple months. I don't know if any of these officially count as a hobby... Well, the reading does. :)

message 202: by Sofia (new)

Sofia Jernberg (thatnewbooksmell) | 5 comments I have way to many hobbies. I love dancing (jazz mostly), singing, writing, reading, drawing/painting, baking (I bake a lot when I feel stressed), cosplay, and I'm very interested in mythology as well as psychology.

I recently started watching a bunch of TV shows such as Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Sherlock (BBC) and Doctor Who. I watch Project Runway and Top Model a lot.

message 203: by Jessie (new)

Jessie (jesstuntebeck) | 7 comments I love reading (which is a give in :)).. I love to do experiments and projects with my children! I bake, garden, run, bring my children on bike rides.. I will do any DIY project (croqueting hats for my kids, making bows for my daughter, creating my own original home decor, etc.) I love wine and BBQing, I like to camp and fish in the summer and spend the winter watching movies and drinking hot chocolate. Well... there is my life in a nut shell! I look forward to getting to know all of you and participating in some great book discussions!

message 208: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendelina) I'm a librarian - books are my biggest hobby - reading them, finding cool ones at garage sales, and I collect cook books because I also love to cook/bake. We have a great used book store in our town, but I rarely have time to go there. The library I work in has a bookstore too, and the books are dirt cheap! I'm making myself a Kindle cover out of an old book - hope it turns out the way I want it to! Second biggest hobby is geneaology - I love the thrill of finding a missing person in a family tree.

Couldn't help but smile at this one, especially since the great choreographer George Balanchine (1904-1983) wrote:

I play chess, run, and adore my wife and 2 cats. I enjoy travelling and photography (though my wife is much better with a camera than me), and can't wait for a USA road trip that we have planned in September.

message 219: by Billiejo (new)

Billiejo | 3 comments Reading, gardening, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, and quilting is a new one tgat I am getting ready to attempt. Funny how I am mostly an instant gratification person, but everything I love to do takes time and patience :)

message 226: by Lina (new)

Lina (booksnotlovers) Hi, everyone!
My hobbies, except from reading? Wine and coffee. I spend way to much time either in a coffee house or a local bar (no, I'm not an alcoholic, it's nice there). And I basically live at my local theatre.

message 227: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Draffin (tarsier) I hang out with my Border Collie, Meg; garden, work on remodeling our house, and travel when I can break away from aforementioned pooch. While I'm doing all that I listen to audiobooks. Finally, while Meg and the family are asleep I do artwork and spend time on the computer.

Sharon My hobbies are reading, gardening and doing word puzzles.
And I also love going early morning walks with my beautiful dog.

message 230: by I. (new)

I. (leavemylyricsalone) Writing thought-provoking prose/poetry, reading and trying to answer the "why" questions about life. I have sons that are now verging out into this great big world on their own and this is difficult at times for a single mom. Gardening, spending time with my friends that are like the sisters I never had, meeting interesting people, and conversing with my parakeet who has just recently become newly single :(

@ Victoria- the writing prompts online. That sounds like a really good idea. I often use photography and or different music genres that provoke ideas for my work.

You really sound like a really busy person that knows how to mix things up-in a good way! Love the names of your cats! They are really great companions and so intelligent. With such a schedule, is finding time to curl up with a good book a challenge?

message 232: by Trinity (new)

Trinity Obviously Reading ;)

Writing, cooking, organizing, running, camping, crafts, singing, dancing, blogging, movies, Church, roller skating, biking, volunteering (a lot!) And so much more but I won't bore you guys.

message 233: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Like most of you here, I am a bookaholic and also enjoy going to the theater in Manhattan, traveling and visiting libraries when we are touring US cities or foreign cities. I also enjoy studying at our Synagogue and volunteering there, playing tennis and spending time with friends and families.

I am not a craftsy type of person per se but do knit and would love to learn to crochet but can't get the hang of it. I used to love to do needlepoints but my eyes aren't all that good for that anymore.

message 234: by Kat (new)

Kat (bookworm2017) | 48 comments I enjoying buying books(I class that as a hobby), cinema, watching crime shows and medical shows, Love game shows as well, bolwing, going on day trips, I write sometimes. Talk to friends on fb, play games(scrabble, cards, bejwelled, frustration)go out to dinner, concerts or comedy nights/author events

message 235: by Laura (new)

Laura Reading seems obvious. I have quite a few sitting on my Kindle to read. I have a problem I know. I keep finding books on here that look good. Usually I only buy books though if they are on sale or the daily deal. I get a lot of books on audio book or ebook from the library. I can listen to audio books at work so I usually have 2 books going at any given point. Aside from that I love movies and I knit or play with my pets.
TV shows: Law and Order SVU, House, Family Guy, Six Feet Under, American Horror Story and Walking Dead
Movies: Fast and Furious franchise, Amelie, Priest, Winter's Bone, Road to Perdition, Shaun of the Dead, Bad Teacher
Book Genre: Most anything, I'll at least try though there are some that either bore me or just don't pique my interest. For example, anything with vampires, werewolves or ghosts, I read them a lot when I was younger.
As for pets, I have 2 cats and a dog and they are awesome, though I'm biased, I know.

message 236: by ash | (new)

ash | (sffreads) Reading, of course. Currently, I only read paperback or hardcover. I am thinking of purchasing an e-reader. I have been researching advantages/disadvantages and what brand to purchase. I tend to do a lot of research before making a purchase on a product. I LOVE my crime-based shows (NCIS/Person of Interest/White Collar/Criminal Minds). I recently got into Breaking Bad and Mad Men. While in college, I had access to Showtime and HBO so I was up to date on shows such as Dexter, True Blood, and Game of Thrones.

Book Genre: Anything and everything. Being introduced to different authors has piqued my interest in genres that I never gave a second look (romance). I do have a rule that once I start a book I have to finish it.
I am the proud owner of my adopted shelter dog, Lilly. She is a Maltese mix and is the center of my world.

message 237: by Lydia (new)

Lydia (lydkins33) I love walking, hiking, and camping in good weather. Haven't had much of that lately though. My winter pastimes are knitting, reading, and organizing and reorganizing my house over and over again.

Whisper (Its_Whisper) | 10 comments I love Gardening and writing!

message 239: by Karen (new)

Karen GoatKeeper (goodreadscomkaren_goatkeeper) | 100 comments Writing used to be a hobby. It seems to have become much more serious in the last year after self publishing my first book.
My remaining hobbies are walking the Ozark hills, photography, gardening and raising Nubian dairy goats.
Reading is more than a hobby. It's a love.

message 240: by Leanne (new)

Leanne (littlebunnylibrary) | 53 comments Other than reading my main passion is belly dancing. I've been dancing for over 5 years now, with a bit of a break last year, but I'm back into it now, I love it :-)

Congrats on the book, Karen. Writing is my hobby, and I remembering fondly visiting the Ozarks on a high school wrestling trip YEARS ago!

message 243: by Melissa (ladybug) (new)

Melissa (ladybug) | 113 comments I have many hobbies, but not much time to indulge them. ;)

Well, the most important one (to my mind at least) is I love, love, love reading. lol I also love handcrafts such as crochet, embroidery and cross stitch. I have been trying to learn how to knit, but have found that to be hard. lol I am learning to play the piano and I like playing with my Maltese dog (Dervish) and riding horses. lol In-between all these (lol) I have to work. :( not fun

message 244: by Pepperpots (new)

Pepperpots I love reading as well as buying books. I tend to buy more books than I have time to read. I also enjoy cross stitching. I would to try scrap booking but I feel like I am not creative enough.

I also love jigsaw puzzles but I have 2 cats so finding a cat-free zone to do my puzzles is impossible at the moment :( But I love my cats so I can make my peace with that :)

message 245: by Allison (new)

Allison Like everyone else here, I like to spend my time reading books, buying books, talking about books. Anything, everything, and all book related :)

The other things that take up my time are hockey, vintage/antiques and animal rescue. I've loved hockey since I was 3 years old, grew up in a completely hockey obsessed family and spent my days at the rink.

I'm heavily involved with animal rescue whether its volunteering for groups or finding an animal in need on my own. I used to work in Detroit and finding a starving, abused, mange/flea bitten animal was a weekly occurrence.

Currently I'm unemployed but its not making me too sad since I get to spend most days babysitting my one year old nephew, Landon. I know I'm biased but he really is the cutest baby you ever saw in your life ;)

I'm selling vintage clothing for pocket money which doesn't amount to much since I keep most of what I find for myself lol. Show me a dress or furniture from the 30s-50s and I'm a goner :P

message 246: by Birgit (new)

Birgit My hobbies are reading, making (you can't really say baking or cooking) pralines and dancing. You can't really say "hobby" to dancing for me, because I'm doing it for over nine years now and it's a part of my life I couldn't live without.
And I also like to write books, short stories,... :)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) My hobbies are Reading, chatting to friends online, Bingo, watching tv and hanging with the family x

message 248: by Andrew (new)

Andrew (andrewskelton) | 1 comments my hobbies...apart from reading include terrorising folks with my ukulele playing..apart from that listening to music and trying to get back into running...

message 249: by P.J. (new)

P.J. O'Brien My hobbies are reading a wide-range of books, tending my gardens (raised bed, water-pond and container) when they're not frozen over, and cooking and home-crafting as chemistry experiments. By the last, I mean making things like yogurt, bread, and wine with the modest goal of not blowing anything up or wasting good ingredients.

And I love discovering books by unfamiliar writers and discussing them with others who do as well!
