Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten Alright, so I know not everyone knows how to use HTML to do cool things like italics and bold. When I first joined GR I thought people wrote it in italics on Microsoft Word, then copied and pasted it.... Yeah, I was way off. But I eventually found out when I noticed someone replying to the post of another and they accidentally left out one of the symbols needed to turn the post they were replying to italic. So then I figured out that had to do with how to make things italic, and I figured it out. Aren't I so smart? ;) Anyway, I eventually figured out how to do the other cool things through basic logic. Of course I could've done things the fast way and asked someone or clicked on the button labeled "(some html is ok)". So I'll go ahead and show ya'll how to do some basic html. It's pretty simple.

So, as mentioned above, you can click on (some html is ok). Feel free to do that if you don't want to listen to me ramble on anymore.

For all the things below, just get rid of the * and you'll see what you have to do. I'm only putting the * in so it won't do the actual thing I'm trying to demonstrate.

To do italics do this: (insert text here)

For bold: (insert text here)

To underline: (insert text here)

To strike: (insert text here)

To hide a spoiler(such as (view spoiler)): (view spoiler)

To post an image(what I mean is doing something like this: : <*img src=(link here)/>

To post a link(in a different way. More like: our group): <*a href=(link here)>(text here)

And those are all the most important ones! Any questions? Feel free to test them out below if you'd like. I don't care.

Cody (rolinor) | 40 comments I'm lazy and have a terrible memory so I always just hit the (Some HTML is ok) button and copy and paste :P

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten haha. My memory is awful, but I remember the strangest things.... Well, I guess I should say my memory is bad at remembering names and people, but not faces and most other things. I dunno. I confuse myself. Anyway.... for some reason the basic HTML stuff is something that just stuck in my brain.

Adele (mooturtil) | 10 comments is it just me or is the star not showing. I had instructions on how to do the star(which are exactly as above), but all that came up was a box.

Adele (mooturtil) | 10 comments [image error]

make sure you have the " or else it doesn't make out that it is supposed to be a link.
type in the URL where it says URL(in between the " and "), by url i mean the thing that starts with HTTP:// etc.
i like to make the sizes 400, but if you want the original sizes, right click on the image and click on properties, there it will tell you the link and dimensions of the picture. copy the dimensionsand type them in the area so 350 x 500 will translate to width="350" height="500" I use 400x400 as it's not too big or samll.
so if i post up the pic, if you hover the mous over you will see what i have typed in the decsription area.
if your using a picture don't use anything from photobucket(it might work for a day but then stop working) also check you picture a week later to make sure the picture is still the same(i had one change into a really bad violent pic once).
so your pic will look like this.

Perro YAY IT WORKED! THANKIES!!

message 34: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (maggie-swift) You don't need width and height for most pictures, unless they're huge or tiny. Otherwise, they format themselves.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Like that? Just go to "add book/author". You'll see how to do it. It's pretty simple.

message 48: by drew (last edited Aug 22, 2011 06:16PM) (new)

drew (drewbeck) Ya. "Add book/Author". It says: (.) "link" () "cover" (Link is bubbled in- that's what my weird symbols mean) Click on the bubble next to cover. It changes to: () "link" (.) "cover". Then, type in the book you want in the little search bar. When you see the book, click on the little "add" button next to it. Or, simpler terms, and you know the title, just type in either, "[book cover: ]" (COVER) and [bo ok: ]" (LINK). In the space after the colon, type the name of the book. (Don't put the space between book and cover or bo and ok.)

message 49: by Maryam (new)
